Premier League clubs have approved a new alternative PSR, called Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) ; clubs will now be allowed to spend 85 per cent of their revenue, with these finances monitored each season; clubs voted against an anchoring system which many felt was effectively a 'salary cap'

With the new government regulator David Kogan who's been employed by who he knows, not what he knows and will have to stick his nose into and get involved in running football, the new Paramount deal for the Champions League taking some money from the Premier, Sky's contract finishes at the end of the decade, it may be a downward spiral for English football, and the introduction of the European league, and back to no investment in what was the best League in Europe!.

They've also closed the loophole that Villa and Chelsea exploited by stopping sales of hotels and women's teams to boost transfer spends on the men's first team which is a good thing. But I'm sure clubs will find other ways.

Here's the truth, Nuno was never going to stay after marinakis confronted him on the pitch
Any relationship was broken then
Edu is a really convenient excuse since
Marinakis made a dire mistake in offering nuno a new contract then
And nuno paid him back
What's done is done, move on as its about forest not individuals.

I think Marinakis has moved on and is planning for next season, there's a couple of moving parts, one keeping in the Premier, second getting Marco Silva, not having to pay out his contract at Fulham and pay Dyche of, Marinakis would still be quids in.
I really think Dyche would need to perform a miracle to still be here next season, it's in his hands, but matching Marinakis expectations is beyond him.

If you want your club to compete at the highest level then it will cost millions and I accept that
Like I've always said the clubs owes me nothing, I've gladly paid my money over the years and seen the good the bad and some really ugly
Why you have such a hang up about the premier and money I can't understand

Always going to change this season because of qualifying for Europe and needing a bigger squad

Then you get the problem of last minute signings as Palace fought every legal avenue and integrating thise players at the last minute
Nuno can't cope and spits his dummy out and that's why we are where we are

Morning Cyclist mate. I haven’t been to Glastonbury for many years. The legend of the holy thorn bush ( its descended bushes still grow in the Abbey Grounds) stem from Joseph of Arimathea ( one of the disciples) who supported visited there.
I believe it was Mary Magdalene who is reputed to have fled to the South of France and lived as a hermit in a cave there for many years after the death of Christ.
I think Dan Brown made use of this legend in his Da Vinci code books which are absolute tosh but gallop along at an entertaining pace. The films with Tom Hanks as Professor Robert Langdon are great fun.
My wife and I have just booked a cruise from Rome to Barcelona for our 70th birthdays in 2027, calling at a few places in the South of France so I’ll look into it and report back then ………💤💤💤💤💤💤😂😂😉😉.

If you drop into the French Riviera Stokey, you might look up Scott Fitzgerald's influences for The Great Gatsby.
Was lucky enough to be there in June and one evening walking at the Cap D'Antibes came across a cove which struck me as an image which could have been used for 'East and West Egg'; peninsulas where the opulent houses in the novel were.
(The Hamptons really).

if you're going to the South of France, I recommend reading the Holy Blood and the Holy Grail. The authors tried to sue Dan Brown for plagiarism (Da Vinci Code is based on their book/ work and some "Masonic"/ Johannite myths).
The da Vinci bit is based on the idea that Leonardo da Vinci (and supposedly Victor Hugo among others) was the head of a secret order called the Priory of Sion who have guarded Jesus ancestors for centuries).
It's a good read and clearly designed to appeal to a certain audience. Not saying it's all true, but where there's smoke. 😉

Thanks Norfolk. I’m a big fan of F. Scott Fitzgerald and will re read his novels particularly “ Tender is the Night” set in the French Riviera. Probably the saddest ending to a novel I’ve ever read I think.
Silk, it’s all lost in the mists of time mate. As you say, no smoke without fire but I equate the Bible with the Arthurian legend and our own Robin Hood.
Great stories and Mallory’s “ Morte D’Arthur” and T. H. White’s “The Once and Future King” are amongst my all time favourites. The King James Bible is a masterpiece whether you believe in its contents or not.

Skegs, mate, I’m afraid the Russian sub ( the Novochok or whatever its called) has already popped up in the Med a few weeks back when it’s engines were knackered and, worse, began dripping diesel fuel onto the crew apparently. It limped home with every man and his dog photographing it as it crawled past Istanbul.
As Putin backed the losing side ( Assad) in the Syrian Civil War it was a long way back because the Russian naval base was captured.

Jude Bellingham, although a talented player, looks like Mr Big I am! I’d be dropping him if I was Tommy Turtle unless his attitude improves. We don’t want any of these histrionics when he’s being subbed in the National team imo.

What Bellingham did last night was poor, England celebrating a goal and he's making it plain that he should not have been subbed, no one player is more important than the team as Ronaldo found out when Portugal scored 9 goals without him.

For cloughs sake dtp, we brought a keeper in, who for me totally settled the defence. Got nothing but admiration for the laddie. You didn't like him from the off, so as PER try and justify your wrongs on football. Just clueless. Ok tell me a better keeper with the little coffers left on ffp? Just tires me when posters reach out in desperation.
Same with nuno. Get behind the squad for taylors sake. Oh hang on you've been there since bill n Ben the defensive men. Reds we ain't doing great, simples. Get on with it.

Look Bowie I don't like six foot three goalkeepers that stand on their line and flap at everything and that is what sels gas always done
Superb shot stopper, but can't do the basic thing 9f commanding his area, which is what all quality goalkeepers do
I cringe everytime a cross or set piece comes in, because I know it will be panic
He's a real unit so why doesn't he use his size instead of getting bullied?
He's made many mistakes and they are there to see, I'm hoping dyche tells him to use his size and dominate from set pieces
When a keeper makes mistakes it has an effect on the defence not trusting him and the whole thing goes to pot
I really hope he can turn it around, but I really can't see it, unless he takes command
He'll pull off world class saves from distance though.

There are too many planets in the entire universe for there only to be one with intelligent life on. I don't for one minute believe in aliens as it would make me just as deluded as someone who believes in a God but I least consider the possibility (which is much more realistic than the possibility of the existence of any God) whilst others are convinced of it. The people on Ancieht Aliens who believe it are just as mentally unstable, comical and scarily convinced as those who believe in God. Both concepts are very much tied together when you think about. But the scientific plausibility of alliens is much higher if you measure metrics of both concepts. That's my honest view.
Not sure what Silkworms real view of it is, though.

I neither know nor think that I know whether aliens exist or not. Nor do I care for that matter. It's not something I've really looked into. But a friend of mine said years ago that the Pyramids must have been built by aliens as that's the only logical conclusion. He could never explain how he came to that conclusion. He was widely mocked by all.
Ironically he's religious. Which was hilarious in itself as the religious don't do logical conclusions. Hence, their belief in God and the rest of the supernatural world. I think he believes in ghosts as well. And Karma. We still mock him to this very day. Both for his hypothesis on the Pyramids and his devout religious beliefs.

Rogie, excellent mate! I seem to have started a “cosmic dust up” though …. 😂😂😂👍👍
First of al, I think the existence of God and aliens are two entirely different things. The former is a matter of personal faith, the latter is science based on empirical deductable evidence which, admittedly in the actual absence of sightings is extrapolated from life on Earth and proven scientific theories like Darwin’s theory of evolution and Einsteins theory of relativity ( along with things like geology, evidence from meteor strikes, space probes, the Big Bang work at CERN etc).
It’s like climate change. You don’t BELIEVE in it, it’s measurable and scientifically provable. The only “doubts” are from countries and individuals who stand to gain by obfuscation for personal, political or economic reasons.
Personally I have no Faith in Gods existence but I do approve of the comfort religion can give to people and I am intensely moved by art, music and writing inspired by religion, such as listening to Mozarts Requiem, seeing the Last Hudgement in the Cistene Chapel by Michaelangelo, reading Graham Greenes “ The End of the Affair” or Matthew Arnold s poem “Dover Beach” or the medieval cathedrals etc.
In an infinite universe it’s logical to assume that we are not unique. It’s also logical to assume that ETs will have evolved differently in different climates or conditions ( like black skin or narrow eyes in humans, or evolved abilities in animals to survive intense cold or heat for example).
Following Earth history it’s also logical to think that evolution will result in the rise of human industry with corresponding pollution alongside the development of planet destroying nuclear tyoe weapons whereby advanced societies will be destroyed long before they achieve speed of kight travel. That’s if they are not destroyed by natural forces such as asteroid strikes etc.
Staggering achievements by ancient civilisations like Stonehenge and the Pyramids have a wealth of accompanying evidence of human construction. The great mystery is why an agrarian subsistence society would expend all those resources and man hours constructing these structures? Probably religious and to please the Gods …
As a footnote, oddly, as scientists at CERN for example edge nearer to re creating the conditions of the Big Bang start of the Universe, they are resorting to using quasi religious and mystical ( almost Biblical) words and phrases to explain, basically, how you can create something from nothing……….
It’s like the funky LSD trip in the final bit of Kubricks “2001, Space Odyssey “. How to know the unknowable and present it to an audience…” Don’t even get me started on the King James Bible and the Book of Genesis “In the beginning was the Word”…….

Stokey. Convergent evolution is common. Life has existed on Earth for 3.7 billion years. The eye has evolved many times and alwys converges on the same form. Many other traits have.
Intelligence like ours? How do we know it hasn't happened before on Earth. What if say, a species of dinosaur did?
What if they developed deep space travel and stuff. Went off into space in a space station and their mates were wiped out by a comet. Then they returned?
Aliens.

Before proper football comes back may I leave this thread with the the words of the late, great Les Dawson……
“I was sat at the bottom of the garden a week ago, smoking a reflective cheroot when I happened to glance at the night sky and I marvelled at the millions of stars glistening like pieces of quicksilver thrown carelessly onto black velvet.
In awe I watched the waxen moon ride across the zenith of the heavens like an amber chariot towards the void of infinite space wherein the tethered bolts of Jupiter and Mars hang forever in their orbital majesty; and as I looked at all this, I thought “I must put a roof on this lavatory”……. 😂😂😂.
