Leeds at home in the Carabao Cup. Two meetings in 3 or 4 days …….

Agree3 Disagree0

11 Aug 2026 06:57:08
Bit disappointed, given it's the only all Premier League meeting of this round. Should be a full house though.

10 Aug 2026 19:34:31
On this glorious evening, please spare a thought for the dirty sheep botherers next door. Their takeover from one of Saudi Arabia's richest men has fallen through. The reason is he pulled the plug. ??

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 22:27:07
I’m surprised RRH ….
Old Arab proverb …… “ A woman for business, a boy for pleasure, a sheep for preference “……?????

10 Aug 2026 23:10:29
Stokey. ??

11 Aug 2026 10:59:55
Whilst working in the Midlands recently, I visited a farm near Derby. I came by a talking cow and chicken, both saying the farmer treats them with love and humility. As I approached the sheep shed, the farmer yells, "Don't listen to them, the sheep are f****** liars!"

10 Aug 2026 16:48:34
Mr M has now filed a lawsuit against Crisis Palace for defamation of character, with regard to the banner held up at the match! We might get Mateta on the cheap!

Agree5 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 18:15:12
It's paying Glasner's wages ?? good old Mr M.

10 Aug 2026 13:47:59
Are we going for a Christmas team? We already wear Santa Red and White, have Jesus in the team and are trying to sign a reindeer.

We should go for Roque Santa Cruz for striker. Apparently, he isn't bad. And Angel Di Maria from Rosario would fit in nicely.

Gergely Rudolph has unfortunately retired and Andy Carroll is now playing non-league footy.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 14:28:21
Forgot about Joseph Paintsil (LA Galaxy) and Messi thinks Carragher was a donkey!

10 Aug 2026 15:02:37
Very good, Cyclist! ????

10 Aug 2026 15:07:01
You forgot "The "Two" Wise Men!"
???

10 Aug 2026 15:38:17
Recall for "Emmanuel" Dennis?. ?

10 Aug 2026 15:43:24
Surely to God we haven't forgotten Nuno Espirito Santo already. ?

10 Aug 2026 15:57:19
He was Judas.

10 Aug 2026 16:35:37
Totally agree, cyclist. Who's Nuno? ??

10 Aug 2026 16:49:40
I always thought there were 3 wise men, Rogie! ? ? ?

10 Aug 2026 19:21:42
I think everyone knows who they are, mate.
???

10 Aug 2026 23:51:48
Three wide men more like.

11 Aug 2026 10:05:32
They are certainly usually well wide of the mark, Cyclist. ?

10 Aug 2026 12:24:43
For those who think a few million is pocket change, the deal for Diamande went through after no other club came in for him and we stuck to our valuation. Playing hard ball negotiations will help with PSR, FFP etc. Don't forget some agents don't play the same game and will see we are willing to move on, just so they know ultimatums are a one way street and hard ball tactics means one team will be regretting the negotiation.

Diomande's agent ended up the fool.

Agree3 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 13:49:18
Even if we'd bid more, Sporting would still have waited to see whether someone came in and bid more. You can't sign a player until the club selling the player thinks they won't get more, or they want to release the player.

10 Aug 2026 15:32:05
Anybody with common sense knows that. It was always going to go through, just like Gykores and Fernandes did, but some like to make a big deal out of it.

10 Aug 2026 12:21:58
So it's being reported that Jeff Bezo is investing in Scouse FC, as part of a consortium buying a third stake in the club!

If nothing else Amazon will have lots of staff coming in, and maybe they won't all be still claiming dole money. ? ? ???

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 15:18:04
Treading water, mate, remember one of our Eds is a scouse lad. ??

10 Aug 2026 17:38:55
Pretty sure the Liverpool unemployment rate is the same as Nottingham's - about 7%. Amazing city and people, if you ask me (which, admittedly, you didn't). Fantastic place to go.

11 Aug 2026 08:49:09
Well, it is where most of the Amazon parcels end up apparently. ???

10 Aug 2026 11:18:22
I see that Brennan I’m to good for this club, Johnson has been sold on again!

This time in a straight swop for Dwight McNeil, Palace to Everton.

The grass isn’t always greener.

Agree3 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 11:34:32
Best bit of business we've done in years, selling him for that type of money. Such a shame; he could have been a legend, but instead he will hardly be remembered at all.

10 Aug 2026 12:00:55
As I said, when he went, nowhere near good enough & got slated for it. Trouble is, he was listening to his old man, who also was nowhere near good enough.
Chase the dollar Judas, it's all gone pear shaped. Tyler Walker 2.0.

10 Aug 2026 12:31:04
Bring back Judas. ???

10 Aug 2026 13:49:06
He's a Multi Millionaire too!!!

10 Aug 2026 06:39:54
If we do go three at the back after getting Diomande, that has to be the strongest three outside of Champions League. It’s the midfield that worries me, and also lack of goals from strikers. Another midfielder, striker and back up keeper essential IMO. As ever it’s all looking a bit too late again.

Agree4 Disagree0

10 Aug 2026 08:29:09.
Back three with two holders, Sangare, Dominguez, Schlager and Yates all candidates. That frees up MGW for a free role in behind Jesus and Taiwo. Obviously Aina and Williams as wingbacks. ?

10 Aug 2026 08:34:15
Imagine that pressing high from halfway, Dio and Murillo have the pace to counter any balls over the top. ?

10 Aug 2026 09:26:22
Doesn't Glasner play with two number 10s behind a striker and rely on lots of work from the wing backs?

Does Aina have the stamina to play that role every game? No. Is Da Silva ready, as he is that type of player. I like Eric Da Silva and hope he sticks around this season. Would also suit Ndoye as a full back IMO. Williams is perfect for that role, but nobody can do that 100 minutes twice a week for long.

Two number 10s would mean a Wood/Delap type up front with Jesus/McAtee/Kalimuend/Hutchinson, with MGW behind.

Wood can't play every game (if he's ever going to fully fit again). We need a striker who fits that system unless Glasner thinks Taiwo or Kalimuendo are right for that role. For me, this is more important than another MF.

Another creative player is always handy, as is an amazing all round midfielder, but I reckon another FB and number 9 (especially if Kalimuendo is leaving) should be top of the shopping list.

10 Aug 2026 10:05:48
Frog, I've been saying exactly as per your post since the end of last season.
Four signings. Firstly, replace (if that's possible) Ando (unless Schlager is the answer, which I doubt); secondly, a striker for the ageing Woody (Mateta perhaps, unless Taiwo can step up); thirdly, beef up the goalkeeper department (Pope?). John Victor has done nothing in pre season, except confirm my belief that if Sels gets injured, we are screwed; and lastly, Diomande to facilitate the 3 at the back that Glasner prefers.

I'd just make the further point that with the change of manager and systems, the £70 million we spent on wingers like Bakwa and Hutch will be largely wasted unless we are chasing the game under this system. Our main striker will need a supply from the flanks, and that will be down to the wing backs.
I personally think Netz and Moreira will be good back up for Aina and Williams, with Ndoye a possibility.

10 Aug 2026 10:09:01
Glasner played 2 up at Wolfsburg, just saying. ?

10 Aug 2026 10:39:39
Like all good coaches, RRH, he's flexible and pragmatic. Perhaps, using Cloughie's dictum, "it's not tactics that win you matches, it's good players," he'll build a system that plays to his (perceived) strengths, mate?
I'm going on pre season, where it's invariably 3 at the back.

Of course it could be a double bluff. Like Billy Connelly's great story about his Dad who trained for months as a Para in the mountains of Scotland only to be dropped in action into Holland. ????

10 Aug 2026 11:34:25
Forest just got a striker from Newcastle on a free.

10 Aug 2026 11:36:33
Sorry, chaps, it's a woman striker, my mistake. Does look like a man though.

10 Aug 2026 15:21:28
?, Vale, don't you just hate that a lot of sites don't separate men's and women's football. You read the headline, get sucked in, then realise you ain't got a clue what they're talking about. Daily occurrence for me. ? ?

09 Aug 2026 09:24:39
Another two (half) pre-season games and no goals scored. We need a goalscorer urgently who is full of confidence and physically up to the Premier League. Gibbs-White looks the most likely to score and as everyone knows his goals bailed is out of trouble at the end of last season but it a striker's job to get goals.

I have to say the Ndoye tackle in the box was the most stone wall penalty I have ever seen - what was the ref thinking? Ndoye looked a bit sharper and hopefully will be better after having a laugh all last season.

09 Aug 2026 10:01:06
I'm not one bit worried about this season rhr.

09 Aug 2026 10:28:56
You should be, Skeggs. I think, deep down, you are, and only you're letting your support for Glasner blur your thinking, mate.
I see nothing to suggest we'll beat them.
I think Leeds will be right up for this. Our front line is poor.
I rarely agree with you, Rhr. However, in my humble opinion, you are absolutely bang on the money.

09 Aug 2026 10:33:54
Well, your all entitled to your opinions, Rogie. And trust me, im not one bit worried, top ten easy. Diomande on his way, like i said. And a few more good signings on way, but if not im still not worried. Let the season begin. ?

09 Aug 2026 10:49:26
Cheers, Rogie. Not being negative, just realistic based on what I've seen. I don't want a Premier League season like the last one, where we have to rely on Morgan Gibbs-White's brilliance. He could get injured?

09 Aug 2026 11:07:30
We are crying out for a really good CF.
Surely the management can see this???

09 Aug 2026 11:14:31
I get what you're saying, Skeggs, however, it's taken far too long as usual.

09 Aug 2026 11:39:42
Not for the right players, it's not Rogie. Glasner as his man, when he's had his medical later, he's been after him since his Palace days. Glasner has the back looking solid. A few more additions in midfield and a striker, as it looks like Kali is on his way out.

And strikers don't come easy, so it's a matter of waiting on fee and wages. And a backup for Sels. And I am living the Mr M Glasner dream. ?

09 Aug 2026 11:48:17
Wakey!!! Wakey!!!
Skeggs!!!

09 Aug 2026 11:54:31
Name a better back 3 in the Premier League, Rogie, in fact any of you. Murrilo, Milencavic, Diomande. Any top Champions League team would be happy. Anyway, Rogie, as I said to you not long ago when you was all slating Mr M for Diomande not apparently signing and panicking. I told you so. We love Mr M.

09 Aug 2026 12:45:29
Don't let your mate see that regarding Murrillo!!!
???
It certainly isn't them I'm worried about.
It's up top; we are struggling, goalscoring has been our Achilles Heel since we went up.
I'm expecting Hutchinson, CHO, and Ndoye to do much better under Glasner, in fact all of them.

09 Aug 2026 13:02:48
I'm with Skegs on this one, far too early to be pressing the panic button, gents. Sels, Dio, Serbinater, Murillo, with Aina and Williams on the flanks. Name a better, more solid defensive unit in the last 20 years at our club. I'm still also backing Taiwo to be back this season. ?

09 Aug 2026 13:27:57
Where has DTP disappeared to? I know we both get on each other's wick most of the time, but sometimes, and I say only sometimes, he does talk sense, especially with regard to our club.

09 Aug 2026 14:33:44
Teams I think that will be in relegation battle: Newcastle, Fulham, Ipswich, Hull, Leeds, Sunderland, Palace, Coventry. We have nothing to fear about one this season. Top ten finish, and hopefully a trophy as a Brucie bonus. ?

09 Aug 2026 14:43:42
Let's hope we play a "Good Game!!! Good Game!!!".
????

09 Aug 2026 13:43:11
Hes watering his pansies. ? hes like Arnie, he will be back.

09 Aug 2026 15:24:26
Skegs, ? with a daisy tucked behind his ear. ?

10 Aug 2026 06:50:12
Let's hope at the end of the Season we'll be shouting "Didn't he do well!!".
???
