Heard a strange rumour, now I've heard this same one from two different toon fans. So neves is off to saudi. Now when there they loan him to Newcastle, which keeps the toon fair play better the saudis pay his wages but the toon pay a loan fee? Don't get me wrong we probably do it with the olympiacos. But the whole thing stinks for me. Again just a rumour.

In the main, the Saudi league will be full of second-rate South Americans, greedy Africans and past-it Europeans, with one or two exceptions.
It was said in the 90's that the MLS would rock the football World, it was said in the 00's that China was going to buy all the World's best players. Now it's the Saudi's turn to fantasise about creating the World's number one league.
It will never, ever have the same gravitas as the big European leagues. It's just doesn't have the history or tradition and I doubt it ever will.
Wouldn't mind seeing Dennis move there for £20mil though. They can have Shelvey on a free too :)

As i messed up with loan to buy. i'm old school i still think players have there studs checked for aluminium. Before the get on the pitch. Can someone please explain (pay as you play) surely this isn't as it comes over. How much does a player get if they don't get a game ED could you enlighten me please ?

Pay to play gets mentioned a lot Bowie, but I honestly can't remember anyone being signed in the Prem (or anywhere) on this sort of deal for a long time now.
It was normally for players at the end of their career/ injury prone.

Yea, pay-as-you-play is a bit old fashioned but I think what people mean is, they'd prefer to see a player like Ramsey offered a performanced-based deal, rather than a high basic wage every week.
So instead of offering him £100k a week, you might offer £50k a week, plus bonuses for appearances, goals, and team wins etc. which might total £100k if he's playing and performing.
No one wants a croc on the books at £100k a week.

I think in Johnson and spence we have gold on our hands. I think, even if we fail to go up this season then Forest need to think bigger picture with holding on to Johnson and pushing the boat out to get spence. It’s around these two that building for the future will be massive for confidence and attracting the quality needed to maintain that big push.

My apologies big time to the eds on here who do more than an amazing job.
I now get where Roy Keane got his prawn sarnie squad from. Seen so many games lately where the wfcg was overpowered by away fans. my opinion live this club apart from obviously my family and jimmy loadsa bellies. FTID, atm I understand the schoolboy football, (get out there and spread out) I just hate the none Forest football, no heart, simple passing, and wingbacks overworked.
Our corners, to set pieces pathetic. And front row that show nothing but. Apart from very odd times look clueless. Told you all and don't give two flyings b4 season started.

Please eds let me have this last say."I've fought for this game from a young laddie. True football, again the reason I became a forest fan was because it was true honest football. And not just from clough, but my hero taylor (who could see things going wrong a mile away) only man clough would understand. And listen to. But that was then, the game of managers vs each other, and good hearted players kicking each other off the pitch if they could. We loved it, and why because they came off with broken legs (rather than playing on hamstrings) etc.
I love this game a lot more than the money drowning the game. I feel each foot to my face as a youngun playing keeper. I hear each sound from away fans wanting me knocked out. And I love it all the dressing room you did this and you did wrong. I hated anyone bottling. Remember a keeper sees it all. For me now reds believe me. The game is about falconry and false promises. Call me all ya want I love forest I love the game I love the friendship. And amazing tutoring from the two gods of TAYLOR/CLOUGH XXX hurts atm just my opinion.

There were always rumours that Bolam was a difficult man to work with and he fell out big time with Bewes.
I saw Rodney Bewes on stage at the Nottingham Playhouse many years ago, I believe in a John Godber comedy but I can't remember which one. I don't think he did much TV after the Likely Lads.
The episode I remember mostly was were they couldn't get tickets to see Newcastle Utd and spent the entire programme avoiding knowing the score so they could watch it on MOTD later.
The avoidance went to the extent of hurrying past the TV shop in case it was on and giving a fiver to a friend they met unexpectedly who began to tell them something about the game but to cut him off via the bribe.
The denouement was revealed at the end. The match had been abandoned due to heavy fog on the Tyne, which is what the bribed friend had been trying to tell them.
Things were much gentler back in those days.
