John Percy says its going to happen today with Cooper being installed after compo of £500k. Murphy was only ever interested in Cooper so it was all eggs in one basket. He might be the right man at forest but the right fit?
One thing that irritates was the media saying we interviewed wilder but bombed him out over financial demands. Nonesense he wanted to talk to us but they wanted one man from the start.

rutland red 7

1.) 21 Sep 2021 10:48:28
A manager who is well known for being good at working with younger players? I'd say that was a good fit, yes.

What we have is an abundance of developing young players. We can't spend, spend, spend due to FFP. People complained incessantly before that we needed a plan and to use our youngster. We need to buy younger players and develop our squad. Now we are doing it.

2.) 21 Sep 2021 11:02:47
The only reason cooper is available is because he stood up to the swansea board and showed his displeasure losing Lowe and Ayew.
Sick of the regular managers doing the rounds with very little success from most of them.

3.) 21 Sep 2021 12:38:38
Agreed 79 i think karanka and oneil were treated poorly though krankie was not up to it. We need a grafter with balls to develop and take on the hiearchy when needed.

4.) 21 Sep 2021 13:38:09
Based on win percentage, O'Neil is the best boss since Davies. Warburton is a close second.

08 Jul 2021 13:39:34
To repeat a theme on here that we have signed no players yet. So no unforced errors just yet then. Phew.
We all want success and a team to be proud of. We need at least 5 new brave characters to elevate this team. But thanks to us having the biggest squad over the recent years and many of them not fit to wear the shirt, we are in a very tight spot. No crowds last season has financially damaged many clubs.

Our wage bill will have been crippling last season so the finances are obviously delicate. Do we rely on Mr M to just shell out a few more million or do we do things sensibly and keep our heads above water. I will reiterate that no news is good news and that all the paper talk is just that. I firmly believe that the club will be doing their business under the radar and we will be in a better place come August.
The revolving door is jammed, thankfully.

1.) 08 Jul 2021 14:18:40
A good viewpoint that Rutland. Hope you are right.

2.) 08 Jul 2021 15:17:00
Those are my thoughts too nothing wrong with doing things in the right way reds.

3.) 08 Jul 2021 16:49:40
I agree that the revolving door should remain firmly closed. But we do need some quality reinforcements if we are going to improve on last season’s 17th position. If we don’t get those signings we will have to rely on a number of other things happening, some of which are more likely than others. Samba must rediscover the form he showed when he first joined us. All of the youngsters that have been out on loan must have good first Championship seasons. Worrall must stay or be replaced with a reliable partner for McKenna. Carvalho must finally show us that he is the number 10 we have been lacking. Lolley must rediscover his best form and stay injury free. Grabban and and/ or Taylor (if he is still with us) must rediscover their goal touch.

As I say, some of these are more likely than others. But if we do not get sufficient reinforcements we need a good few of these to happen. If not, I can only see another season of struggle.

4.) 08 Jul 2021 19:34:39
Agree completely with your sentiments Red but think it unlikely all of the youngsters will hit the ground running, certainly not to the point of denting the play off places. I fear Carvalho is unable to step up to the physical demands of the Championship and had a poor season on loan. I am more hopeful that Lolley will continue to return to his best form that he was beginning to show prior to his injury. He has been back in training for some time now so he could be like a new signing hopefully. I think we must all put aside top 6 place and concentrate on reducing the bloated squad of average and below average players and begin building for the future.

5.) 08 Jul 2021 20:56:41
Young rah. I hope so too. I feel for lolley as he is a battler and can drive the team. His best days were when cash was alongside him. But his injuries are dragging him back and i think insurmountable. But we can hope. The bloated squad will take time to rinse out and freshen up, but hughton, at this moment is the experienced head we need. Long term he might be limited but for now and stability he is more than ok.

6.) 08 Jul 2021 23:19:29
I prefer the revolving door and hughton going out it.

7.) 10 Jul 2021 08:52:18
Yep would make an exception for that Ff.

8.) 11 Jul 2021 09:37:07
To be replaced by whom? Someone else to jump on the merry-go-round and leave by the same revolving door in 12-months time? Come on folks, let’s get real. We all crave success but Hughton deserves a proper chance given his promotion record elsewhere. I agree with Rutland in that longer term he may well have limitations but right now he’s a steady hand on the tiller. Let him shape his squad and then judge him but don’t blame him for the here and now!

9.) 11 Jul 2021 16:55:43
so far nobody has got under the radar and if they are going to get a proper pre season they need to be counting em in soon.

10.) 12 Jul 2021 17:36:52
Thank you RedOctober for a welcome rose of realism.

08 May 2021 09:39:02
From what i can gather vrentros is considering his position trentside. A chap from the bundesliga is in the frame to replace. Surely this would be welcomed by most on here. Hughton has made it clear that attacking issues are a top priority. He has looked at this squad and i bet even the ones on loan like mcguanne and realised they will not make the step up. Given hughtons past record you have to trust that he will make positive strides and in the not too distant past his teams have scored plenty of goals.
Our strikers and so called attacking mids are just not good enough, particularly Grabban. He came here injured and has never shaken off these issues. Yeah he scored 20 last term but none when it mattered, some say he could and should have scored thirty, well he didn't and there lies the problem. Worst pen taker and even one he scored this season only went in because he he fell over and fooled the keeper. Hughton has shown faith in his inherited skipper but think Grabban will be gone and younger blood brought in. You could never say grabban did not try to score but he wasted so many chances and when the option to play in a team mate arose he greedily tried the impossible.
I know many on here want rid of hughton calling his football archaic and dinasaur quality. I get that. But given the general rubbish and crocks he inherited then it would be foolish to change now. One full season to rinse out the deadwood and titivate the team with better attacking quality is the best option. Even if we finished outside the play off places next year rest assured the squad will be trimmer, better and we will have a better platform to replace hughton with the younger dynamique manager we crave. I doubt the football will be as bad as this year as it will be freshened up but its crucial we do not twist as we have a man of nowse as our coach.

1.) 08 May 2021 10:29:47
Team Cohesion, and Team Progression each season is all i ask, anything better is a bonus.

2.) 08 May 2021 21:11:19
Rutland hughton will be gone before next season ends.
Hes working for marinakis and if he can't get us promotion next season, or he's struggling with results?, which he will.
Then they will sack hi.
Id get rid right now as he only has six months left on his contract
Its interesting they haven't offered him a contract extension thank god.

3.) 09 May 2021 15:56:54
Good post.

29 Oct 2020 10:05:04
According to john percy forest have lost appeal regarding Grosiki.

rutland red 7

1.) 29 Oct 2020 12:11:43
Not fussed he didn’t want to join us in the first place, would prefer us to go for Ronan Curtis fromPortsmouth in January a lot better long term prospect.

2.) 29 Oct 2020 14:10:44
Why would he sign if he didn't want to. That is complete nonsense.

I'm glad he hasn't signed as he would be blocking younger players progressing into the first team.

3.) 29 Oct 2020 17:44:48
Ref he could of come here long before but said he was not interested, and then went to West Brom only when he found out that he wasnt in WBA plans did he then consider a deal with us, wether he was haggling for more money or not we won’t find out but I think there are better options out there. Mighten is not quite ready and needs to be loaned out for regular games like Johnson.

25 Oct 2020 12:50:09
Looks like Grabban, after holding talks with the club, is staying at Forest. He is probably carrying an injury hence his dismal form and endeavour. Think he plays injured most days.

rutland red 7

1.) 25 Oct 2020 14:43:13
If you are right about his injury then that shows he should have been dropped a while back.

2.) 25 Oct 2020 16:04:08
I’m hoping with Knockaerts addition Grabbon will come good as will Taylor.

3.) 26 Oct 2020 09:05:33
So Grabban has a hip injury that's why he's been rubbish but how long as he had this injury he has only scored in two games in open play with no assists out of his last 25 games going back to the end of January, In the same period our out of form winger Joe Lolley as scored in four games and assisted in four games, its a stat that shows just how poor Grabban has been for months.

4.) 26 Oct 2020 09:25:44
Sorry Grabban has one assist.

5.) 26 Oct 2020 16:31:01
Shows how short we have been upfront that Grabban started despite his lack of form. And if he has been injured then it is pretty desperate. I hope we can get Grosicki over the line but we may still struggle for goals.

6.) 26 Oct 2020 17:03:50
Why was Walker, then Taylor not given a chance, not so much being short more unwilling to give others a chance to shine.

7.) 29 Oct 2020 10:24:25
Hip injury? Someone with a wooden leg could have scored that sitter the other week! Lol.

Like many on here last night I was resigned to losing 1-0. Was following the txt and on 90 mins had lost all hope of an equaliser. 2 mins later I check again and it's 1-2 to forest. I checked my phone for a poor signal and gave it a shake to see if broken parts would fall out lol. Outstanding reaction from the players. Taylor can be very clever from spot kicks and I hope Cooper can get more from him and build his stature. Cannot criticise any thing or anyone as I did not see the 90mins. No Cafu near the squad anymore thankfully, Cooper is a sensible manager and managing people looks like his greatest strength. Plenty of new lads waiting in the wings and Cooper will have them introduced when he thinks they are ready. What a difference a month makes. Amazing.

rutland red 7

Saw bowie talking earlier talking of how the site has been quiet during international breaks. It begs the question are these breaks good for our game? On a personal level international football means little to me now, sad I know but the governing bodies and politics have driven me this way.
So why does international football take precedence over club football? Clubs get shafted and so do the fans. If not for club football then international football would not exist. The clubs should be the most important thing. Since the invention of international breaks nothing has improved only clowns like Southgate get longer to cast his miserable ideas on players. The fans are never thought of, particularly missing their sat afternoon pilgrimage which is so wrong. And to think that we are going to miss at least 6 weeks next year for a World Cup to be played in a hostile climate and even worse a country that has fraudulently given host of this tournament and that's before you look at their human rights elements. To me football should be played around the clubs not the other way round. The corruption instigated by blater, platini etc has not gone away their stain on our game is as stinking as ever.

rutland red 7

1.) 16 Oct 2021 14:13:27
Couldn't agree more on the corruption surely that world cup should have been taken away because of the findings made. Its the arabs money that rules football now.

08 Oct 2021 21:33:23
Good evening chaps been out of touch last 2 weeks as been moving house and had no internet. I don't have any sm on my mobile.
We have settled in to our cottage in wood hall spa which seemed to take forever to get over the line. I did read that some thought my absence was over the sacking of Hughton. If you read my posts you would agree that I did say it was time for Hughton to walk away as it simply was not working. So nothing sinister in my absence only grafting which is on going. Still hate these international breaks and feel the same as in rugby we should carry on regardless. Some good results, I think Lady Luck is helping. We survived some scares, again in the air and set pieces. Glad Cooper thinks the two behind the striker is the way forward, big advocate of that system. The big difference with Cooper is he wants attack in numbers, hopefully 2 holding is in the rear view mirror!!!

Cheers Bowie. I last saw trextacy in colne lancs. they kicked off with my fav raw ramp, the full version and ended with get it on. The rhythm section are awesome. Everyone was up boogieing lol.
As for the team now nearly same personelle different results. I still see the same defensive frailties, so does Cooper. However for me the main difference being Cooper has deployed the two higher up the pitch and is not hellbent on rigidity. I think players are asked support the front and get forward with pace getting numbers in attack. It’s certainly brought a smile to the players and restored a bit of confidence. Early days but a great start. I also like the way he has dismissed any ideas of young lads from South America being ready for first team action at the moment.

Some fabulous positive posts on here last few days, particularly ff79. It really opened my eyes to direction the club are going in and it's starting to make sense with the new ceo and Steve Cooper being drafted in. I really hope it's a new dawn of living within our means with realistic ambitions and sensible targets. Having a driven team and one that can compete with style in this league will do for me. Derby county are in a total mess and realistically could go bust. We should be grateful for our owner in many ways as he has not yielded under a dreadful tenure of poor advice and awful decision making. He seems able and willing to stick with us where many would have cut their losses. So I sincerely hope this new Dawn brings a positive shift in our fortunes and we move forward with the shackles lifted. The prem maybe our big target but let's consolidate find a winning formula and let the megabucks of the perm look after itself when we are ready.

So the search for a new manager starts today. I feel it was the right decision in the end as Hughton was a very lonely isolated figure in his understanding and execution. That said the players are looking like the same old disjointed crocks and cast offs we are used to recruiting of recent. So a new manager will inherit a shambles make no mistake. We saw it lastnight, simply awful individual and collective performances. Joe worrall was the biggest failure i doubt any club would be sniffing around him after that. Yes against derby he put his body on the line but was caught napping lastnight and looked lost. Mckenna is ok but for all his efforts still we cannot dominate in the air. Look closely at taylor, grabban, yates, zincernagle, garner. Their touch and imagination was shocking. Lowe looks ok as does johnston. Personally i thought the keeper was doing ok. Talking commanding his box and dealt well with what came at him. The howler though was sunday league stuff. But you pass it back to a keeper enough times and you are inviting trouble andcwe do plenty of that. On the mbe soh situation, he is not a full back and not big enough for a centre back. Laid off a nice ball to brennan but that's where it ended.
I thoght silva looked lively and pacey with a decent touch but his one shot from one side of the pitch seemed to go into touch on the other. Mind you yates grabban and garner were all guilty of the sunday league desperation shoot from impossibility when a pass would be more appropriate.
So back to the point, would a decent ambitious young manager risk his reputation on a failing project that is nottingham forest?
To stop the rot and deliver a happier brand of football?
To have to gel a an average squad with new recruits from all corners?
A big ask and very testing task for the owner. I cannot see anything other than a hughton, kranky or lamouchi type coming in. The king is dead long live the king.

1.) 16 Sep 2021 10:47:57
There will always be a big queue willing to take the job, at the end of the day they get a 2 or 3 year contract and if they fail get paid off anyway.
The first thing those players need is some confidence, something lacking under hughton and the last thing they needed was Reid and trollope in charge Saturday as it will be more of the same.
Both should have gone with him as they are part of the problem.

2.) 16 Sep 2021 11:19:06
The first thing they need is to stop taking the knee if they can't all agree to it.
If they're not United in doing it, it shows weakness and a divided camp to the opposition before a ball is even kicked.

3.) 16 Sep 2021 11:28:39
FF79 who is trollope? Do you think Reid is a Houghtonite? I thought he had been doing reasonably well with the under 23s. There is No Way he should be appointed of course . My hope is for Steve Cooper . Young, motivates youth players and successful with Swansea . It’s whether the conditions of being a mere coach with no control over which players come to the club are acceptable. To me they wouldn’t be so if he is not appointed - currently the bookies favourite -, then it will verify that the growth at the centre of our club is still festering and will eventually bring us down.

4.) 16 Sep 2021 11:53:19
worrall as always been a failure for me, too many silly mistakes and not clever enough to think of possibilites. he gives away free kicks and they mostly score and steal the points. take a look back last 3 to 4 seasons on the points he as cost forest,

5.) 16 Sep 2021 13:00:37
Doc Paul trollope is assistant to hughton and its steven Reid in charge not Andy.

6.) 16 Sep 2021 18:13:58
Thank you for explaining that, now I am gloomy about the Huddersfield result.

No matter the manager you play for the shirt, the fans, the club. All this confidence talk is utter drivel. We have no leader on the pitch. Grabban as captain is an utter joke. Not once did he or any other player tear into the box to get on the end of low crosses or mishit shots. Worral, yates, garner can't pass and worral particularly was poor in every department. Has anyone ever seen grabban head a ball? Other than taylor heading a ball back for worrall i cannot remember us winning ariel duels. Lolley does sideways runs as he is bereft of pace. We simply have no engine in midfield. No drive with none getting beyond the striker. Yup the manager is responsible for the selections and set up and for that he is at fault, grabban and taylor together on paper won't work so why on the pitch. He should go now as that is expected but that performance and low level of committment is a disgrace. Some say we have a team capable of better. I doubt it, good footballers find a way.

Well said southwandy. What difference would a new manager make. 4 years of awful recruitment and chaotic management from the top will take more than a manager merry go round to sort out. I keep saying hughton may not be the right manager for us but judging him without allowing him to get a better tougher type of player in is totally unfair. He has over seen some quality loan signings and needs like you say another 6 better than average championship players.

I would understand the axing of Clarke if they did not say it was for financial reasons. I think Frank would act as an ambassador for free. Give him a season pass for life as a thank you and say we need younger fresher ideas would make sense but to spout cost cutting that’s a strange one.
