John Percy says its going to happen today with Cooper being installed after compo of £500k. Murphy was only ever interested in Cooper so it was all eggs in one basket. He might be the right man at forest but the right fit?
One thing that irritates was the media saying we interviewed wilder but bombed him out over financial demands. Nonesense he wanted to talk to us but they wanted one man from the start.

rutland red 7

1.) 21 Sep 2021 10:48:28
A manager who is well known for being good at working with younger players? I'd say that was a good fit, yes.

What we have is an abundance of developing young players. We can't spend, spend, spend due to FFP. People complained incessantly before that we needed a plan and to use our youngster. We need to buy younger players and develop our squad. Now we are doing it.

2.) 21 Sep 2021 11:02:47
The only reason cooper is available is because he stood up to the swansea board and showed his displeasure losing Lowe and Ayew.
Sick of the regular managers doing the rounds with very little success from most of them.

3.) 21 Sep 2021 12:38:38
Agreed 79 i think karanka and oneil were treated poorly though krankie was not up to it. We need a grafter with balls to develop and take on the hiearchy when needed.

4.) 21 Sep 2021 13:38:09
Based on win percentage, O'Neil is the best boss since Davies. Warburton is a close second.

08 Jul 2021 13:39:34
To repeat a theme on here that we have signed no players yet. So no unforced errors just yet then. Phew.
We all want success and a team to be proud of. We need at least 5 new brave characters to elevate this team. But thanks to us having the biggest squad over the recent years and many of them not fit to wear the shirt, we are in a very tight spot. No crowds last season has financially damaged many clubs.

Our wage bill will have been crippling last season so the finances are obviously delicate. Do we rely on Mr M to just shell out a few more million or do we do things sensibly and keep our heads above water. I will reiterate that no news is good news and that all the paper talk is just that. I firmly believe that the club will be doing their business under the radar and we will be in a better place come August.
The revolving door is jammed, thankfully.

1.) 08 Jul 2021 14:18:40
A good viewpoint that Rutland. Hope you are right.

2.) 08 Jul 2021 15:17:00
Those are my thoughts too nothing wrong with doing things in the right way reds.

3.) 08 Jul 2021 16:49:40
I agree that the revolving door should remain firmly closed. But we do need some quality reinforcements if we are going to improve on last season’s 17th position. If we don’t get those signings we will have to rely on a number of other things happening, some of which are more likely than others. Samba must rediscover the form he showed when he first joined us. All of the youngsters that have been out on loan must have good first Championship seasons. Worrall must stay or be replaced with a reliable partner for McKenna. Carvalho must finally show us that he is the number 10 we have been lacking. Lolley must rediscover his best form and stay injury free. Grabban and and/ or Taylor (if he is still with us) must rediscover their goal touch.

As I say, some of these are more likely than others. But if we do not get sufficient reinforcements we need a good few of these to happen. If not, I can only see another season of struggle.

4.) 08 Jul 2021 19:34:39
Agree completely with your sentiments Red but think it unlikely all of the youngsters will hit the ground running, certainly not to the point of denting the play off places. I fear Carvalho is unable to step up to the physical demands of the Championship and had a poor season on loan. I am more hopeful that Lolley will continue to return to his best form that he was beginning to show prior to his injury. He has been back in training for some time now so he could be like a new signing hopefully. I think we must all put aside top 6 place and concentrate on reducing the bloated squad of average and below average players and begin building for the future.

5.) 08 Jul 2021 20:56:41
Young rah. I hope so too. I feel for lolley as he is a battler and can drive the team. His best days were when cash was alongside him. But his injuries are dragging him back and i think insurmountable. But we can hope. The bloated squad will take time to rinse out and freshen up, but hughton, at this moment is the experienced head we need. Long term he might be limited but for now and stability he is more than ok.

6.) 08 Jul 2021 23:19:29
I prefer the revolving door and hughton going out it.

7.) 10 Jul 2021 08:52:18
Yep would make an exception for that Ff.

8.) 11 Jul 2021 09:37:07
To be replaced by whom? Someone else to jump on the merry-go-round and leave by the same revolving door in 12-months time? Come on folks, let’s get real. We all crave success but Hughton deserves a proper chance given his promotion record elsewhere. I agree with Rutland in that longer term he may well have limitations but right now he’s a steady hand on the tiller. Let him shape his squad and then judge him but don’t blame him for the here and now!

9.) 11 Jul 2021 16:55:43
so far nobody has got under the radar and if they are going to get a proper pre season they need to be counting em in soon.

10.) 12 Jul 2021 17:36:52
Thank you RedOctober for a welcome rose of realism.

08 May 2021 09:39:02
From what i can gather vrentros is considering his position trentside. A chap from the bundesliga is in the frame to replace. Surely this would be welcomed by most on here. Hughton has made it clear that attacking issues are a top priority. He has looked at this squad and i bet even the ones on loan like mcguanne and realised they will not make the step up. Given hughtons past record you have to trust that he will make positive strides and in the not too distant past his teams have scored plenty of goals.
Our strikers and so called attacking mids are just not good enough, particularly Grabban. He came here injured and has never shaken off these issues. Yeah he scored 20 last term but none when it mattered, some say he could and should have scored thirty, well he didn't and there lies the problem. Worst pen taker and even one he scored this season only went in because he he fell over and fooled the keeper. Hughton has shown faith in his inherited skipper but think Grabban will be gone and younger blood brought in. You could never say grabban did not try to score but he wasted so many chances and when the option to play in a team mate arose he greedily tried the impossible.
I know many on here want rid of hughton calling his football archaic and dinasaur quality. I get that. But given the general rubbish and crocks he inherited then it would be foolish to change now. One full season to rinse out the deadwood and titivate the team with better attacking quality is the best option. Even if we finished outside the play off places next year rest assured the squad will be trimmer, better and we will have a better platform to replace hughton with the younger dynamique manager we crave. I doubt the football will be as bad as this year as it will be freshened up but its crucial we do not twist as we have a man of nowse as our coach.

1.) 08 May 2021 10:29:47
Team Cohesion, and Team Progression each season is all i ask, anything better is a bonus.

2.) 08 May 2021 21:11:19
Rutland hughton will be gone before next season ends.
Hes working for marinakis and if he can't get us promotion next season, or he's struggling with results?, which he will.
Then they will sack hi.
Id get rid right now as he only has six months left on his contract
Its interesting they haven't offered him a contract extension thank god.

3.) 09 May 2021 15:56:54
Good post.

29 Oct 2020 10:05:04
According to john percy forest have lost appeal regarding Grosiki.

rutland red 7

1.) 29 Oct 2020 12:11:43
Not fussed he didn’t want to join us in the first place, would prefer us to go for Ronan Curtis fromPortsmouth in January a lot better long term prospect.

2.) 29 Oct 2020 14:10:44
Why would he sign if he didn't want to. That is complete nonsense.

I'm glad he hasn't signed as he would be blocking younger players progressing into the first team.

3.) 29 Oct 2020 17:44:48
Ref he could of come here long before but said he was not interested, and then went to West Brom only when he found out that he wasnt in WBA plans did he then consider a deal with us, wether he was haggling for more money or not we won’t find out but I think there are better options out there. Mighten is not quite ready and needs to be loaned out for regular games like Johnson.

25 Oct 2020 12:50:09
Looks like Grabban, after holding talks with the club, is staying at Forest. He is probably carrying an injury hence his dismal form and endeavour. Think he plays injured most days.

rutland red 7

1.) 25 Oct 2020 14:43:13
If you are right about his injury then that shows he should have been dropped a while back.

2.) 25 Oct 2020 16:04:08
I’m hoping with Knockaerts addition Grabbon will come good as will Taylor.

3.) 26 Oct 2020 09:05:33
So Grabban has a hip injury that's why he's been rubbish but how long as he had this injury he has only scored in two games in open play with no assists out of his last 25 games going back to the end of January, In the same period our out of form winger Joe Lolley as scored in four games and assisted in four games, its a stat that shows just how poor Grabban has been for months.

4.) 26 Oct 2020 09:25:44
Sorry Grabban has one assist.

5.) 26 Oct 2020 16:31:01
Shows how short we have been upfront that Grabban started despite his lack of form. And if he has been injured then it is pretty desperate. I hope we can get Grosicki over the line but we may still struggle for goals.

6.) 26 Oct 2020 17:03:50
Why was Walker, then Taylor not given a chance, not so much being short more unwilling to give others a chance to shine.

7.) 29 Oct 2020 10:24:25
Hip injury? Someone with a wooden leg could have scored that sitter the other week! Lol.

I was under the impression that Wycombe were waiting to see how their promotion season finished before laying out their compensation claim against Derby. Surely if boro had a legitimate claim against Derby then Wycombe's was greater. The fact that Derby had to settle with boro will now open the door for league one Wycombe to complicate the take over from kirchner of Derby. The ground issue is not resolved and I believe they are looking at ground sharing as an option. Has this takeover saga got yet more twists and turns

rutland red 7

1.) 22 May 2022 10:57:19
Stick a 4ft deep moat/ trench round the ground.
Suppose you could fill it with water if desired and put pararna fish in 😎🎈.

If Rooney fell in it would take 1 month for them eat his body and about 5 seconds to eat his brain.

19 May 2022 12:39:00
The issue of pitch invasions has drawn some polar opposite remarks. My thoughts are quite severe on this issue. Monica Seles was stabbed as was another female tennis star on court. We go to matches to spectate, to watch from the stands and support. We have no right to go on to the hallowed turf and embrace, touch, appeal for a selfie or jostle the players. You would not do it in a public place and I bet players are ver worried when the mob invades the pitch. It has to be regarded as the utmost in safety that fans stay well away from the playing surface. We had fencing for a reason and in respect to the outcome of that disastrous issue it should be absolutely crystal clear that nobody leaves the stands other than through the exits, designed for safe travel in and out of the ground. How it is enforced is open to suggestions but balloons has it with dogs, I would go further but I am draconian when it comes to law and order. I saw men with masks hoods and dark glasses on Tuesday, it's only a matter of time before a disaster occurs. Billy sharp was lucky not to have had his temple caved in such was the verosity of that attack to his scull. Billy sharp of all ppl. A model professional who wore the garibaldi and has handled family tradgedy with grace and dignity. Rightly this incident is being reviewed and I hope they come up with a serious solution.

1.) 19 May 2022 13:11:35
With Robert Biggs being sentenced to 6 months imprisonment for the attack on billy sharpe, I think it’s only right mcburnie should get the same sentence as Biggs or maybe even a longer sentence for mcburnie because he’s supposed to set a example being a pro footballer or is there one rule for one and one for the other……. mcburnie should be locked up simple.

2.) 19 May 2022 13:36:41
Fff79, Bowie and 2tone what do you think about us all hiring a minibus for the trip to Wembley next weekend that way we can all go down together and then anyone else who wants to come on here can? Just a idea lads.

3.) 19 May 2022 13:58:12
I won't argue with most of what you say rutland and understand totally were you are coming from, and that unfortunately. , the majority of us have to be protected in some way against what could happen , but the majority of fans on the pitch did not go on there to cause any trouble to anyone else, they went on to celebrate a-great win and achievement, because of one absolute Banker possibility a few more that I didn’t see everyone get’s tarred with the same brush . Its people human beings, mainly a minority, that ruin things for the rest, look what crazy man Putin is doing in Ukrainian the odd few EF everything up for the rest. But I’m afraid if I get another chance to be on that pitch then I’ll be there, and ok class me as a70+year old hooligan if you like, I’ll take that, I could be dead this time next year and never be able to go on again, I've waited 20odd years for this I’ll take my chances of being arrested 😉😉😉👍.

We need to go up, if we stay in this division what fine might the club get. -21pts like Derby. I am holding my breath on what could happen.

8.) 19 May 2022 16:17:41
It would be nothing like 51 stop worrying.

9.) 19 May 2022 17:04:34
Rutland you raise an interesting point mate. I guess the key question is how do perhaps 100 to 150 combined Police, Stewards and other security prevent a 30 thousand crowd getting onto the pitch once they’ve collectively decided to do that?
Horses and dogs were a deterrent but I believe Notts and other forces axed or severely reduced the Mounted and Dog sections due to cut backs.
It’s basically risk management when 150 000 Officers have to Police 60 million people. If we didn’t have Policing by consent where would we be? We’d be in France or China that's where we d be. 😆😆.

10.) 19 May 2022 17:44:02
Ok Bowie right O, I won’t bother you again full stop, permanently.

11.) 19 May 2022 17:52:02
Fff79, tongue in cheek we started this season 7 matches with 1 point, almost the same as Derby.

12.) 19 May 2022 19:21:39
For being guilty of not being able to get to wembley jolly. Kinda sums ya up mate. Walking on eggshells isn't for me. You haven't a clue why i can't get there. Ok i agree with ya. let's just leave it full stop. And always remember. Was never me all this .

13.) 19 May 2022 19:52:38
Nice one 51 🤣🤣.

14.) 19 May 2022 20:16:45
Dreamteam mate you are missing the point mate
So if you feel the urge?
Then there are consequences as you are breaking the law.
Imagine if all the top tiers went down early to join in?
Is the pitch big enough?
No people would get hurt. kids would get crushed.
You really need to think about it.

15.) 19 May 2022 20:21:38
And oi jolly stop given yourself thumbs up over me. Very very sad your up and down like a yoyo. Get help son.

16.) 19 May 2022 20:39:43
I understand all the comments. But to many of them - remember - on Sunday the guy went to a football game, Thursday he is in prison. Swift justice in anyones book. If that thought does not make you consider the results of your actions then you shouldn’t go to football games.

17.) 19 May 2022 20:53:14
Excellently put skipper and on the money.

18.) 19 May 2022 20:43:57
Horse's and dog's controlled by Nottingham Police is what's needed. Not some poor person, in a high vis vest on minimum wage! .

19.) 19 May 2022 21:00:58
Skip - he’ll also be out pretty quickly 🤷🏻‍♂️No deterrent therefore people don’t think twice about it.

20.) 19 May 2022 21:08:48
Jolly you need to keep that promise
Bowie didn't deserve what you did and cost him.

21.) 19 May 2022 21:47:12
He’ll be out on licence in three months (provided he is a good boy) and be monitored for the remainder of the 24 weeks and liable to recall to prison. However, his actions will change his life. As I explained in another reply he may well lose his job and as a consequence lose his house and even his family. The ramifications could be enormous. The 24 weeks is kind of irrelevant in the remainder of his life.

18 May 2022 09:09:58
Big shout out for Sam surridge. In both legs he created two brilliant assists. He was on a hiding to nothing lastnight having to go wide and also watching long balls go sailing over his head. But he stuck to his task magnificently.
Zincernagle was missed when withdrawn as he can make things happen and does put in a shift. If they take him off I think Cafu is a better alternative than lolley. Lolley runs like he has one leg on upside down. Tries but looks a shadow these days. His one good trick was cutting in and getting it on his left peg and blam. But he struggles to stay upright.

rutland red 7

1.) 18 May 2022 09:30:58
One leg upside down? 🤣🤣 That's priceless!

2.) 18 May 2022 09:59:30

3.) 18 May 2022 17:49:29
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣stop, please!

18 May 2022 06:44:11
I think the ref was excellent lastnight, though I think he should have dismissed heckingbotham. The match needed a non fussy ref and we got one.
Sheffield were very unlucky and played really well considering what was at stake. Without their four main strikers they carved out a lot of good opportunities. Strong athletic and their passing left us chasing shadows much of the time. We were poor in posession and hoofing it a lot but maybe that was down to utd hunting us down and not giving an inch. I thougt their second goal could have been disallowed as they had a player offside obstructing the view of samba as the shot was unleashed, surprised it wasn't mentioned. Having said that it was a smart move getting down the side of the forest defence. That was where we were out done by patient passing and clever movement. Garner was rubbish again with his delivery from set pieces and has become customary recently players were slipping with colback and lolley falling foul to their footwear. Lolley slipped twice when shooting as you will see even when he missed his penalty.
Samba Never seen such a hero for a keeper and if we triumph at Wembley then should wear the legend badge with honour.
Cooper knows we didn't play to Plan and were found wanting a lot but that was new territory for a lot of the players and they will learn. Davis was amazing when he came on and certainly took the pressure off.
An amazing experience and fantastic match even for a fan of 40 odd years to watch.
Didn't think we would hold our nerve throughout second half and extra time but we did and all credit to the defence particularly cook who admitted that he was out on his feet.
Well done Forest the spirit is awesome.

1.) 18 May 2022 07:46:11
Oh and it’s only fair and nice to see the teams finishing 3rd and 4th competing at Wembley.

2.) 18 May 2022 07:54:00
First thing I said Rutland, he had to be in an offside position. Clearly interfering with play. Luckily if didn't effect the result, this time.

3.) 18 May 2022 07:55:10
Good post rutland, it looks as if both yates and garner are running on fumes at the moment, 10 days of recovery will do them a power of good.

14 May 2022 21:11:09
It's probably only me but that was a very frustrating match to watch. Some outstanding performers in our team particularly Cooke who was outstanding and the reason samba gets so much protection. He is simply awesome and goes about his business with little fuss. Zinc should have been kept on as we missed his control in midfield. Now garner who has a growing reputation as a dead ball specialist as has become customary recently was tantamount to useless with his delivery. I think our midfield has become an all over the shop job with very little composure and poor first touch. What is it recently with players slipping all over the shop. Poor decision making and lack lustre finishing is hurting us. Samba was hot and cold today and was at fault for the clearance made by surridge and the goal conceded. Getting caught by coming off his line being blocked by his own players and then bleating that he was fouled. Just when he was starting to grown on me. The ref had a shocking first half but a creditable second. The posession and positioning of Sheffield today was worrying as they left us chasing shadows a lot in the 2nd half. Sure it was always going to come and when they ran out of steam we failed to capitalise with indecision and casual sloppy end product.
Having said that the players worked their socks off and carved out many early opportunities to have won three matches. For me colback was a giant today and deserves much praise. I just think we give the ball away stupidly and too easily at times which brings much unneeded pressure on us.
It was interesting to see us using the long ball more often and fighting hard for the second ball. More effective than playing out from the back. Sheffield utd got out of jail today and have hope for the second leg. But they have to come at us which will suit us just fine.

1.) 15 May 2022 08:53:23
Rutland, I agree with much of what you’ve said, performance was great but the outcome was (sorry) disappointing, we should be out of sight and sheff u know they have a chance they shouldn’t have . Where has this conceding goals in injury time crept back in from? I personally think cooper will be furious and worried to why we’ve started missing so many chances and conceding silly goals.

I think in Johnson and spence we have gold on our hands. I think, even if we fail to go up this season then Forest need to think bigger picture with holding on to Johnson and pushing the boat out to get spence. It’s around these two that building for the future will be massive for confidence and attracting the quality needed to maintain that big push.

Docm as I said last week a pitch invasion must NEVER happen again. The tunnel at forest has protection for a reason. The fans ability to swarm in a flash from stand to pitch is currently uncontrolable. For this reason a form of barrier must go up at least to slow down the swarm and let stewards have a form of control. To my mind the worst case scenario occurred at our ground where a player was attacked. Not by a feral youth but a 31 yr old with a job a partner and a mortgage. The trust element has gone so therefore stringent enforcement must be put in place. In my opinion soft fencing barriers with gates and bolts pitch side, not locks, which are only slideable from pitch side. Only desperate youths would want to attempt to hurdle these so giving a form of containment giving time for players to exit the pitch and allow for police or stewards to gain control. Obviously suitable punishments dealt to offending clubs.
To think that standing areas are being experimented with is a slap in the face to fans and future thinking clubs… it’s an insult to the aftermath of the 97 and a sorry reflection of the world we live in…

Pitch invasions 3 point deduction to the home team. And if it’s a play off then the new season starts with deduction. As it’s mainly home supporters but sometimes both then deductions for both clubs. If premier have different rules to EFL then they need to get their heads together…
