Our new manager is Steve Cooper? How do I know? Well all I can say is that he has been seen yesterday looking at a house.

doc m

1.) 17 Sep 2021 10:18:17
I doesn't matter who our next manager is and I think it's about time people stop blaming the managers.
The club has been a shambles for a long time now and it's clear to me where the problem truly lies.

2.) 17 Sep 2021 11:06:29
Tomo, mate, sadly without Marinakos there wouldn’t be Forest to support . We’d be defunct except for some glorious pages in the history books. Sometimes you have to sup with the devil to survive. 😕.

3.) 17 Sep 2021 12:00:59
I hope he's only looking at short term rental properties Doc.

4.) 17 Sep 2021 16:34:55
Marinakis is keeping the club alive. Be careful what you wish for.

16 Sep 2021 07:19:00
Allegedly Steve Cooper and Alex Neil are in the melting pot . If it's true both will be trying to negotiate for control of player transfers . This is the problem not paying off CH . Big M is not in control, it's the myriad of people in between all wanting to have a finger in the pie . The club is undergoing a slow death due to their decision to sign player after player with 0 pedigree. We will not get either Cooper or Neil if the managers role is simply a coach . I.

doc m

1.) 16 Sep 2021 08:27:53
Don’t want any of them underperforming idiots, frying pan, fire.

2.) 16 Sep 2021 08:31:40
Alex Neil was at the game last night. Seems odd that he would come to watch dreary Wednesday game at the CG.

3.) 16 Sep 2021 09:34:47
Noooo! Please NO!

4.) 16 Sep 2021 10:35:23
With you perko, nooo nooo nooo to either. I would rather have clough and pearce. Now that would sort this lot out.

19 May 2021 15:22:08
The successful teams next session will have a nucleus of players who have played together at least one season before . So we have McKenna Worrall and maybe Lawrence Gabriel . So maybe a new left back. Midfield we have Yates and Cafu ( Cafu got a contract last season so someone thinks he is good ) . I guess Brennan Mighten to develop further. So we need a midfield dynamo plus a winger and a forward or two.

doc m

1.) 19 May 2021 20:59:54
We need a manager first I'm worried who he will bring in with his tactics.

2.) 19 May 2021 21:02:09
Cafu is a nowhere player. I simply cannot see where his strengths lie. He can't tackle can't head can't shoot, is slow, and his passing forward shocking. get rid.

3.) 19 May 2021 21:54:02
But apart from that, he’s a fantastic player 😂.

4.) 20 May 2021 06:39:18
Perko lol sometimes he did quite well just poncing around looking a little tidy. But when you wear gloves when there's a nip in the air and your meant to be gritty midfielder, you have to be special. Average with NO end product, we need much much better players.

{Ed014's Note - I thought for a minute there you were talking about Paul Pogba! 🤣

5.) 20 May 2021 11:00:14
Agreed Rutland, not good enough. Think he was given a two year contract aswell, who makes these decisions. He offers nothing.

6.) 23 May 2021 20:18:22
Apart from Garner the whole midfield are dross. Get rid of the lot and start again.

7.) 28 May 2021 22:18:41
Id still keep sammy for the bench. Don't care what you lot think. He can change a game, pass or shot. On little wages. Looks lazy and can be. But one of the only players apart from garner sadly i thought could change a game from midfield. Just saying.

8.) 29 May 2021 12:00:01
I’ve got no problem keeping ameobi Bowie, just wish he could unplat his feet and learn to cross a ball.

10 May 2021 21:58:08
Can no one in the FA see the stupidity of the current arrangements between the bottom of the premier league and the Championship. It is an utter disgrace that teams are allowed to yo yo between leagues whilst teams like Brentford have to fight in the playoffs. What's the betting that WBA and Fulham will be promoted next season!
Ed The parachute payments they got season before last surely they don't get again .

doc m

{Ed002's Note - They do indeed get them paid again and I agree the system is unfair and the money should be spread out differently but the argument is based on the disparity of income between the two divisions could adversely impact the relegated side - there have been a few examples of clubs falling away in the past.}

1.) 11 May 2021 09:51:36
I think clubs fall way because the chairman takes out after the visit to the prem.

2.) 11 May 2021 14:34:06
The parachute payments are too big and last for too long.

The way forward is to lower the size of the payouts and only one second year at a lower rate to give teams time to reduce their wage bill etc. The clubs will still have an advantage from being able to buy lotts of decent players when in the Prem but will have to release some.

Problem solved. Except it is the Prem clubs who vote on the rules, so they won't change.

3.) 11 May 2021 18:53:48
Surely relegation is there as a punishment for not being good enough, as for a club being adversely affected, clubs need to do what we the general public have to do to when we have financial difficulties, cut their cloth accordingly.

4.) 12 May 2021 11:15:40
If clubs didn't spunk tens of millions after promotion in a desperate attempt to stay in the promised land then they wouldn't need parachute payments. All parachute payments do right now is allow clubs to be more reckless when they go up. They need to be stopped or heavily reduced, especially since the introduction of FFP.

As said above, I can see WBA and Fulham being clear favourites to go straight back up.

5.) 12 May 2021 17:44:44
I think what's wrong as well is that the parachute payment doesn't count towards ffp. Basically a double bonus.

6.) 12 May 2021 18:40:38
It would be better if the parachute payments were put in a pot that was shared out between all of the Championship and the relegated Premier league clubs based on their relative league position with the clubs relegated from championship missing out.

The concentration of cash in the yo - yo clubs is getting worse and as everyone is saying the three favourite next season to go up will be WBA, Fulham and Shef United. And the rest of the clubs cannot compete financial because of FFP.

I am afraid if they don't fix this then the championship will become predictable just like the premier league.

But I don't expect this will change.

7.) 13 May 2021 06:50:53
The EPL should mandate relegation clauses in player contracts reducing/ capping salaries. Some would demand relegation release clauses but that's fair enough. Promoted teams would find it slightly harder to compete in the prem, but they could redistribute parachute payments and make the EFL more competitive.

8.) 18 May 2021 16:58:12
Good post mctavish.

03 May 2021 22:23:49
Let's us try and sensibly predict our team for the next season . I make no apologies for the below
Samba, Christie, Soh, McKenna, Bong
( my opinion Worrall 15m, will be sold to A/ V to join Matty ) ( Ribeiro will also leave )
Colback Yates Sow Cafu, Ameobi
I think also Johnson will be sold for 10m These are hard times for this club . The other young players out on loan will either sit on the bench or have further time on loan.

doc m

1.) 04 May 2021 08:34:26
Relegation then.

2.) 04 May 2021 19:58:18
Gabriel, Worrall, McKenna, New LB
Artur, Yates
Mighten, Carvalho/ New No.10/ Grabban, Johnson

I predick Artur to have a good second season after being put on a decent fitness program close season and coming back ready to play (optomism/ hope more than predict haha)

3.) 04 May 2021 20:35:59
Red C, I'm hoping the same for Lolley. A good rest and hopefully he can come back a bit like his old self. No close season last year knackered him up, a major loss.

4.) 04 May 2021 23:43:51
Yes MV, we have basically been playing without our best player. It is easy to forget Lolley was previously our best attacking player by a country mile.

I just don't have a clue whether he is medically able to be the same player again. Fingers crossed.

I heard Nick Powell is out of contract shortly. I'd offer him a contract in a heartbeat. He has started 39 games this season with 12 goals and 3 assists! No transfer fee required. New number 1 problem solved!

5.) 05 May 2021 09:52:47
Good shout that, a goalscoring midfield player? Forest could definitely do with one if them.

6.) 05 May 2021 18:02:44
Interesting points particularly about Arter. Christie has grown really well and would like him perm. Worrall mckenna should be a great pairing if mckenna can stay fit. Samba not good enough sorry, too much of a prat. Lolley has issues that i doubt he can overcome. Grabban? Just can't see us starting a new season with his type, offers zero in the air and goes too wide and too deep. We have all seen enough of poor personal performances, and very little collective cohesion. If Hughton stays, which is not nailed on yet, i year contract, then the playing staff has not got the nucleous to take the club forward. Their has to be changes. Not what we want but what we need. This team has been hard to watch and for me that's not down to hughton.

7.) 06 May 2021 22:34:23
Its very much down to hughton rutlandhe picks and sets up the team to play a certain way.
Thats to play not to lose, anything else is a bonus.
Counting the days till he's gone.
Dreadful manager.

Hungarian goal keeper might be worth a punt.

doc m

1.) 14 Jun 2022 21:16:20
Best watched when they play someone decent doc.

13 Jun 2022 13:05:23
I think the dozen or so players that according to the Post we have been linked with recently is a clever smoke screen.
Eg. Wolves think Forest are desperate for Morgan- White, so they ask an inflated price - but then it's pointed out that Forest are looking at 6 other strikers as well who cost a lot less! So Wolves think let's offer them Morgan White for 15 m?

doc m

1.) 13 Jun 2022 14:03:40
Just letting you know that there will be more subs per game to cover for head injuries. If the player injured recovers while having been substituted will be allowed back on and that sub removed. Fair enough for me.

07 Jun 2022 22:09:39
Can I just say thank goodness our beloved club does not have Mr Southgate as manager . He reminds me of CH, doesn't pick the right players and does not go out to win a game . Why does he not bring on a 27 goal a season player in the Italian league and he has a dislike of the mercurial talented 100 m player who turns a game and basically delivered the pass that earned England a draw . SC you can trust to deliver the best from his players and will get you results . I am excited to see the team he assembles for the first game of the season, that I hope is at home so the fans can thank him again!

doc m

1.) 08 Jun 2022 08:25:01
Was thinking exactly the same doc. Why start trippier on the left? What does mount do? Southgate seems a decent bloke but could you imagine england playing like that if SC was in charge because i can’t.

2.) 08 Jun 2022 16:11:17
Exactly why I've not watched them in any real capacity for years. Apart from the recent Euro comp, we never deliver on the international stage. We are about as boring as they come. I'd say as boring as watching paint dry, but that would be doing the paint an injustice lol.

05 Jun 2022 09:00:00
My worry for our club, that we can do nothing about is Steve Cooper . He is head coach, not head of recruitment ( Syrianos ) or Dourekas or the son of Big M, Marinakis . What I am
asking is who is in charge? , who decides to buy an overseas player and who goes to watch Blackburn under 17s on a cold very damp Saturday afternoon - not Syrianos I expect . Already we have a number of players - Panzo, Ojeda, Laryngea, recent buys who are not even in our championship side. My worry is that the trio above will make decisions above Steve Coopers head and say your the coach, get on with your job. SC should have the final say but I highly suspect he doesn't . Who is feeding the NEP with these players we are linked with? The latest being a Hungarian centre back for 13M euros . SC has and is building himself a strong reputation and patently if Swansea is to go by, he will not be messed with .

doc m

1.) 05 Jun 2022 09:29:47
The only saving grace is I think if it was a case of the above making the transfer decisions then Dane Murphy would have left a whole a go. So that fills me with a degree of confidence that things are perhaps changing and we’ll (hopefully) see new signings coming from Murphy and cooper!

I do think laryea and panzo were Murphy signings both look to be a solid back ups and neither have played enough for me to judge. But panzo especially must be decent as he was at Chelsea for a while and their academy is pretty solid.

2.) 05 Jun 2022 09:49:20
Doc, the Nottingham Paste don’t know anything that’s going off . Layera has only been kept at bay because of Spence and looks decent . All others were signed pre cooper . It’s more relevant to think of Surridge and Davis as the examples of signings made on behalf of cooper (both of which I’m sure he’ll have an input) so I think you’re worrying about nothing if I’m honest.

3.) 05 Jun 2022 10:02:42
Doc you raise a valid point but I do feel cooper will have enough clout to cause major upset if the recruitment is not players that suit the mentality and ability cooper thrives on. Some good players brought in at the end of Hughtons reign but like you point out further averageness with the 3 who barely make the squad. One thing that was obvious and needs addressing is how against Bournemouth, Sheffield U and Huddersfield, we concede posession for long periods, relying on the defence to hold out and by the time we got the ball were bereft of ideas and unable to keep posession. Hence we need better midfield quality in touch passing and movement. Zinc has it but the rest will struggle….

4.) 05 Jun 2022 12:46:46
So the gossip Is now we have enquired about Nic Pope . This is in the Sun and on the BBC gossip web site . So where did that come from? If I were Samba and I read this as I would or Ethan or even Smith I would be looking elsewhere . This is how you unsettle team spirit . Do we really think SC is responsible for this rumour or has said to senior management I need a new goal keeper? Whatever his faults, he is the reason we are in the premiership.

5.) 05 Jun 2022 14:38:19
Ignore the paper gossip, it really isn't worth getting et up about. Rumours galore this time of year, nothing else to put in the sports pages. As for the 3 additions, I saw all of the play and they all looked decent. All of them were playing in a different country and need time to settle, they were never going to force there way into a winning team.

6.) 05 Jun 2022 14:51:51
Doc, have a word with yourself mate, what are you going on about?

7.) 05 Jun 2022 14:52:43
And smith needs to look elsewhere anyway as he’s not a premier league goal keeper.

03 Jun 2022 13:14:02
The Post is coming up with players here there and everywhere . I am not prejudiced against overseas players but surely we have learnt our lesson over time . The relegated sides from the premiership and those in the championship who just missed out, must have players who would thrive in the premiership. If we had not gone up, probably Johnson and Worrall would have gone so there must be potential out there . Brentford bought Toney and he has scored the goals that kept them, without other wholesale changes to the team . To state the obvious SCs top priority is a striker, not yet another centre back!

Take no notice of the Nottingham Paste. Just a load of lazy journalism. Ignore all the stupid links and Cooper is keen on. etc.
Ya heart sinks when you read some of the supposed links. We ain't signing any 32yr olds and one season wonder Brereton. I'll read it when it an official signing 🎈.

2.) 03 Jun 2022 15:08:05
The paste isn’t even a newspaper anymore nothing of any substance in there these days.

More truth reading Viz!

4.) 03 Jun 2022 17:58:55
Hey rogie did you know the 1st viz was written in a bedroom in Newcastle. You can tell it's got our (as the yank wife calls it) very dark humour. Really miss it. Me n gingerkid were chatting about it on here little while ago. Iconic.

8.) 03 Jun 2022 22:00:54
Finbar Saunders and his double entendres! Fnnnarrr, Fnnarrr. 😂. Not forgetting Buster Gonad with his unfeaseably large testicles and Fat person (as fat as I don’t know what) .

9.) 03 Jun 2022 23:03:25
Billy the Fish had a dreamlike, almost Dali easque surreal quality to it whilst being very very funny! 👍😂.

Whatever anyone says about the 19/ 20 team, the combination did well and came effectively 6th equal! Ok they messed up after the the virus induced break but that does not devalue the previous 40 games . My point bring players like Silva were an integral part of this team . People are all out for selling Cash, Worrall and Silva, on our past record I would seriously doubt we will get better more committed players. I think we are all risking throwing the baby out with the bath water!

I worry about our scouting system . It seems and wonder how much input SL has . Rumours are rumours and the NP has to write about something. Recently they have discussed Forest interest in a young portugese midfielder - well we have been down that road before . Twice bitten nice shy would be my view . Then there is the forward who was on Juventus books but now not playing . A centre back and most recently a right back . Are these scouts living in Europe I presume they must be. My view is to get Lyle Johnson at the club whatever the fee. When he came to the City ground he was the best player on the pitch and ran his heart out and scored a goal . He is young and knows the championship game. Of the overseas players we have signed only 2 have been very successful Samba, and Sow and 2 moderately success Silva And Figs. It seems salary is the most important concern before talent.

Yes this happened last season when Dawson was injured thank good ness we have Samba. If we don’t move higher in the table ie top 4 it will be harder to attract a good striker in January if that’s what we need. Psychology is important . Watson was slated last season now or at least was a hero - what changed! Carvalho is bereft of confidence? Perhaps a time in the reserves would help? Lolley is not playing like he can either. So the manager does not drop them after one gain as that would psychologically be bad . Vis a vis Bostock who had a great game in the cup against Derby but then apparently a bad game against Wigan. I think I would have chosen him last night rather than Carvalho. However Yates I think played well. Dilemmas for SL but a win against Reading is important to move up the league but psychologically a priority for the players.

Klopp may have rated him, I presume that is why he was bought . However 6 years and not playing for Liverpool because of work permit issues is incredible. He was then loaned for 6 years to German sides scoring scoring an average of.

I agree DT, I saw Davies make superb runs . Completely changed the game coming on against Sheffield United. Once he had the ball, very difficult to get it off him . Would have scored more goals in time in my opinion . What is his price?! . The 17 m we might be paying for a player who has only ever played in Germany, seems a gamble. Comparisons be made by the fans . Zinc, an integral part of the team, determined aggressive . Ok not good in front of goal but made important contributions . Spence I would have payed 20 m for as for me our player of the season SC is a first rate manager but does he have the ultimate say in who comes . This Nigerian striker - 6 yrs at Liverpool but never played because of work permit issues - is bizarre, plus Samba negotiations also a worry as to who is really in control.

I have never doubted SC choosing the right players for our team . The NEP is completely random who it prints we are apparently interested in and ignoring this is us the best plan . Touted are failed premiership players and European division 1/ 2 . Surely look lower in the Uk ie Jack Rudoni 21 yr old AFC Wimbledon. There must be many others who are mini Johnson’s, Grabbans etc . I hope that’s the type of player we will see In our starting 11.

Both were part of a winning team so yes to both I would say . No to a new centre back unless the club is planning to sell one of the three we have now . We let Fig go and then likely by another from Mainz. We already have two other Centre backs in Soh and Panzio, so that makes 6. We seem to have already unsettled Samba, so is our aim to unsettle the current back three? Or is it the EP once more getting ahead of itself.

I agree SR . Our problem is 5 of our regulars last season were loans . Maintaining that team spirit is vital . I am sorry if Samba has gone but would be happy if Davis and Zinc are signed . This is silly season when rumours are abound so whether Spence or Garner will return and in what capacity who knows . Lowe I probably would not sign. This came from a Blades fan who was that enthused about Henderson! Only SC would know what step up is necessary and whether that 11 that earned our promotion would keep us afloat in the premier league.
