Some bloke called Jashari from Club Bruges has apparently turned us down because he wants to go to Milan.
Pity because if his first name is anything to go by, he would definitely be up to the job.

We seem to have a penchant for bidding for players who don't want to come. Have to hope at some stage we find somebody who does want to grace the CG.

2.) 13 Jul 2025 14:34:41
He could have stiff competition getting a game, the last thing we need is a flop, he looks confident, you could say cock sure of himself?.

Probably just lazy journalism but we're supposedly after Gnonto from Leeds.
Whenever I've seen him play I've thought he's a right pain in the arsenal so it's a yes from me if it's true.

1.) 24 Jun 2024 15:23:33
He’d be a good challenge to the already excellent wingers we have in CHO and Elanga. He looks fast and tricky when I’ve seen him for Leeds and Italy.
It’s a yes also from me provided it doesn’t cost us points under FFP.

2.) 24 Jun 2024 19:24:13
Not heard a dickie bird about the interest in CHO from Spurs and others, thought he would be gone after all the speculation.

Cheer up guys. Just heard we have rectified our right back problem.
Alan Hutton. Four year contract. Same agent as Murphy apparantly.

Did anyone else see Milosevic feel his hamstring late on in the game. Hope it was only cramp.
Excellent defender. Brilliant positional awareness.

I only read we'd offered 500k. Accepted?

2.) 29 Jan 2019 11:56:07
Might be out of contract in the summer

3.) 29 Jan 2019 12:48:49
Regular England youth international only 24 can play left back and centre back. Looks like we are covering Robinson. A pinch if only £500,000.

4.) 29 Jan 2019 13:45:29
Ex man u dross no thanks, look what happened when we had that Stewart from manutd admittedly many years ago but all he kept going on about was how they did things at old Trafford- I'm sure dj had a big fall out with him !

5.) 29 Jan 2019 14:16:05
This is just bizarre !

6.) 29 Jan 2019 16:20:26

RIP Henry Newton. He played in the first match I ever saw live in 1968. Grummitt, Hindley, Winfield, Hennessey, Mckinley, Newton, Lyons (2 goals), Barnwell, Hindley (1 goal), Baxter, Storey-Moore. Joe Baker and Frank Wignall were injured. The names just roll off the tongue. I could only just see over the wall in front of the old main stand.

I remember being allowed to pass in front of the taller people. As a young teenager I played for Dunkirk cricket club, many years later I was looking through some archive photos and found out that a young Henry Newton also played for them in the early 60s. Small world, eh.

Gazzibaldi

1.) 14 Apr 2026 18:46:36
Gazzi, my abiding memory of Henry Newton was a much less happy one, mate. I was near the wall at the corner of the old Main Stand and the Bridgford End as a kid when he went into a tackle and my Dad and I winced as we clearly heard his leg break. Lower leg, I believe.
You can always tell if a player is seriously injured because they don't roll about and look as though they've been shot. Henry just raised his hand, lay still and didn't appear to wince even as they were splinting him up and moving him onto a canvas stretcher.

None of these golf buggies and paramedics with gas, etc.
Hard, tough bloke and was back after several months. Different era.
Had he played for a more "fashionable" club he'd have got many full England caps. Workrate, rugged, aggressive without being sly and play acting, good distribution, kept it simple but effective. Easily as good as Nobby Stiles and Alan Ball.

2.) 14 Apr 2026 22:40:14
Me to Gazzi,
Team was.
Grummit
Hindley
Winfield
Hennessey
McKinley
Newton
Lyons
Barnwell
Baker
Wignall
Moore.

3.) 15 Apr 2026 08:32:49
Different era, different game, but that's still a top 6 team all day long.

4.) 16 Apr 2026 14:10:18
It was top 2, Gazzi, as we finished runners up behind Man Utd (who we thrashed at the WFCG 4 nil with a couple of ours out injured). I was there for that one, standing with my Dad on the Bridgford End Kop. They had Best, Charlton, Nobby, Law, etc., and couldn't lay a glove on us. I must check this, but I've a feeling one of our replacements, Mike Kear, scored a hat-trick?
We were unlucky to lose to Spurs in the FA Cup semi final too, after Joe Baker was nobbled by Brian Labone in the 6th round v Everton.

I was in the Trent End with my Dad for that one too.
A great team, and it should have been built on.

5.) 16 Apr 2026 14:13:34
Just checked my fading memory... It was Chris Crowe with the hat-trick and 4-1 (Big Frank Wignall for us and Bobby Charlton for them).

12 Apr 2026 19:37:55
That's as nervous as I've felt for a long while. I couldn't settle all match. We were so frustrating. Lost so many 50 50s. Half a yard slow all the time. Couldn't find a forward pass to save our lives and as for corners, same old.
Can't fault the effort but we got away with it today. They missed two absolute sitters.

Lovely tribute to 6-year-old Noah, who overcame cancer, from the Forest Family...
Brilliant.

10 Apr 2026 08:58:35
I was hoping for a better performance. I was expecting a better performance. Three weeks to prepare the players, the line up, the tactics and they were all over the place. Could easily have lost by 6. I assume half a dozen of them won't be seen on Sunday so I hope our first choice eleven are better prepared than that last night.

Of course I'll settle for the draw but if we play like that on Sunday, Villa will blow us away. Ps. Best own goal I've ever seen.

Gazzibaldi

1.) 10 Apr 2026 09:47:58
I actually think we performed better than you suggest, mate.
Yes, we rode our luck; you would expect our keeper to save that header just before the break. The 2 previous chances, yes, we rode our luck.
We played pretty well after the equaliser, and in spells in the second half, against a side who are formidable at home.

I also think Porto got away with one; that second should have stood, as the keeper was already going after Jesus clipped his head with his knee, mate. Just my opinion.

2.) 10 Apr 2026 10:15:27
I agree with you, Rogie. Definitely wasn't a terrible performance, and nothing wrong with Jesus's goal. To go away to an elite European side and come back with a draw is nothing to be sniffed at. I actually think, taking current form into the matter, Porto is the hardest opponent we could have drawn alongside Villa. ?

3.) 10 Apr 2026 10:36:36
I'd have taken a draw last night. And a great goal we didn't score last night. He really didn't want to be on the pitch after that. ??

4.) 10 Apr 2026 11:09:04
Skeggs is unbanned!
?

31 Mar 2026 20:21:01
Anyone else watching this England bore fest? We're playing without a forward line.
At least Anderson is getting stuck in but my days, it's poor.

Gazzibaldi

1.) 31 Mar 2026 20:41:47
Again it's dire. ??

2.) 31 Mar 2026 21:17:10
I just wasted 10 minutes of my life watching that garbage. Plenty of sunbathing this summer, me thinks. Wife will be happy.

3.) 31 Mar 2026 22:15:13
Went up the local with missus to get away from it and had a good time instead.

29 Mar 2026 19:47:42.
Talk of our top players leaving in the summer. Murillo is often mentioned. I'd be very sad to see him go. Absolute gem of a player. Saved us so many times. Best CB we've had since Des in his prime. Now there's a question for debate. Murillo or Des.

Gazzibaldi

1.) 29 Mar 2026 21:23:01
Could not agree more, mate.
But times move on and players move on.
Only thing that can change it all is if we win Europa League?
Which I'm convinced we will.

2.) 29 Mar 2026 21:28:03
Murillo all day, mate. He's still only going to get better and better. When you consider he'd played only 20 odd first team games out in Brazil. ?

3.) 29 Mar 2026 21:37:04
Murillo is a better footballer than Des in my opinion.

4.) 29 Mar 2026 21:43:03
Stronger for a starter, Stevie.

5.) 29 Mar 2026 22:42:04
He just looks confident for me, never panics, strength. And, like Des, fit as. Not only now, but will grow into an unbelievable player. You can just see him learning each game.

6.) 29 Mar 2026 22:45:30
Better passer of the ball than Des ever was tbh.

7.) 30 Mar 2026 05:02:26
Murrillo definitely my favourite player, I'll follow his career with interest, no matter where he ends up...
However, I'd be delighted if we could eke another season out of him.

8.) 30 Mar 2026 06:35:49
Unfortunately, someone will have to go on sale. We are a business after all, but if we stay up we can limit that to probably Anderson and maybe MGW. I hope we can keep Murrilo and Sangare, etc. Selling those 2 can fund another rebuild. We must spend the money well, though.

Keefe, not really seen much of the Italian duo but I would definitely do the deal because Ndoy and Zinchenko have failed miserably.
They can't be any worse. then again.

If Anderson does leave, I don't think it will be for Newcastle.
I think his ambitions are much higher that them.
Liverpool, Man City or Real Madrid is his destination imo.

Gazzibaldi

{Ed001's Note - I hope you are right with your first suggestion! Fantastic player who would improve pretty much any team in the world.}
