We surely will sign some defenders!
Fox due to leave tomorrow, several young defenders now gone out on loan and Ahmedzovic left to Malmo, Hef is our for the season and Dawson for 8 weeks whilst no one seems to know what is wrong with Fig or how long he is out for still and is no getting Worrall back now until Summer so we have Benalouane and Robinson as only two CB for foreseeable future with Janko, Dawinkra and Osbourn (if Robbo is CB) as only fullbacks. surely we need at least two or three more defenders to come in even if only on loan!

And bena has a broken skull

2.) 29 Jan 2019 11:57:16
Report I have just read states we are looking to bring in 3 new players. 1 full back, 1 midfield and 1 striker.
Would have thought we needed a couple more at the back?
Let's hope the report is incorrect

Heard a rumour we are one of several clubs showing an interest in N'diaye who was on loan at Wolves last season. The Senegal international won't be going back to Wolves by look of it but played 30 games in the championship and was the holding midfielder in last seasons champions! We certainly could do with a tough holding player like this and in my opinion this would be a great buy. Personally not sure it will happen as would think a few bigger clubs may be in for him too but who knows with the way we are going!

Hearing Bassong, the former Newcastle, Spurs and Norwich Defender and Cameroon international, is another possible free transfer target! Can play centre back or Leftback and very experienced at 31 still got a few decent years in him, might want big wages but decent player in my eyes maybe just on a short term deal until end of season?

What are we? scrap yard for old pros wanting a last pay day?
Karanka s had seven signings without picking up hitchikers.
Enough
He needs to focus on sorting out the defence and showing our jolly giant how to catch the ball and cover his near post.
He needs to show them where the opposition's goal is and get there as fast as you can.

He needs to show worrrall how to trap a ball.
Do the job you've been bought here for, youve been given enough extra tools to work with.
No more journeyman freebies it don't work.

2.) 06 Feb 2018 07:47:53
Your man should of done this with worrall your man also had 9months to sort the defence.yet you think karanka has had a couple of weeks and you think he should of sorted it by now!brilliant

3.) 06 Feb 2018 10:27:02
Just keep bringing in the out of work unfit players then Sutton.
These out of work footballers are a waste of space,Out of work for a reason, they're not good enough anymore, they've been there done that and got the t-shirt.
No hunger left in em?it's just another pay day.

4.) 06 Feb 2018 12:53:07
I think we're assuming a lot about these guys, like they're just here for the money. Look at Dejagah; out of contract for weeks but obviously kept himself in shape enough for 30 minutes of Championship footy two days after getting here. I'm backing them all to be a great success.

5.) 06 Feb 2018 17:04:52
FF79 is getting very shirty in his old age!

Some of the free agents were injured come contract expiry day and not renewed.

I trust Karanka over Warburton to pick up a player who can hit the ground running at left back in this league.

6.) 06 Feb 2018 20:16:07
Lets give em all a chance eh before flushing them down the pan.

Karanka is not a fool, let's see what the and the team can do between now and the end of the season.

7.) 06 Feb 2018 20:48:11
Bassong is woeful. Norwich were glad to be rid. I may be wrong but was Bassong not part of more than one relegated first team squads (different clubs). A bit Lescott esque?

8.) 06 Feb 2018 21:56:14
Not really red,i just don't share your confidence in Karanka.
Know the tactics and can't see were the goals will come from.
Just hope tomlin can do some magic, fitness being the issue though.
Not so long ago you were applauding Warburton and his vision of the future.
I hope Karanka proves me wrong starting against hull,a must win game

Seen a few reports about us looking at this Algerian lad Soudani from Zagreb.
30 year old who scoring record is very impressive with more than 1 goal ever 2 games and top scorer in Russia and at national level.
Might be worth a punt but hard to know if he will transfer that form to Championship and don't want another Djebbour!
Reports in Russia saying we might be lining up a 2 million bid.

RedRascal

1.) 24 Jan 2018 00:11:06
Since when was Zagreb in Russia? 🤔🤔

2.) 24 Jan 2018 06:19:21
Forest don’t have much look with Algerian players.

3.) 24 Jan 2018 07:35:39
Which of our many manager bought Djjabour in?

4.) 24 Jan 2018 07:38:35
That luck has to change at somepoint but I think it's all paper talk I think we will only sign experienced champo players in this window and the foreign gambles in the summer as that will make integration that little bit easier

5.) 24 Jan 2018 10:55:09
But on the other hand if he turned out to be another Riyad Mahrez! That's the risk you take with any signing, I mean it's not like we've had any English, Spanish, French ect players who have flopped is it? Saying don't sign an Algerian player because he might be like Djebbour is like saying don't sign another English player because he might be like Mills.

6.) 24 Jan 2018 11:19:58
Completely agree Red Tech.

7.) 24 Jan 2018 11:34:12
so long as we sign him for less than million
And don't put him on silly wages. Like we did with other 2 Algerians

8.) 24 Jan 2018 11:46:00
I think his club want £2m

9.) 24 Jan 2018 11:56:14
Saying we don’t do well with Algerian signings seems to forget Adlene Guediora somewhat.

10.) 24 Jan 2018 13:20:22
I wouldn't be paying 2m for him.
He's coming from noddy league. On par with Scottish premier.
2 million could be better spent.

11.) 24 Jan 2018 16:57:53
This lad looks a lot more prolific than Djjabour to be honest. .49 international goals in 39 appearances!

12.) 24 Jan 2018 21:12:31
21 goals in 39 international is the true figure,68 in 162 appearances for Zagreb

13.) 25 Jan 2018 07:26:23
2m is very steep and at 30 he isn't getting any younger for a striker.

10 Jan 2018 12:35:52
Ryan Yates has signed a new two year contract with the club after impressing out on loan at County. Could have a huge future with the club.

RedRascal

1.) 10 Jan 2018 13:46:21
I'm pleased about that :)

At least it prevents us having to sell him because he only had 6 months left on his contract. That would have meant us pulling him from county and despite what county supporters think. We do actually want them to do well :)

Hope he can continue to progress :)

2.) 10 Jan 2018 16:23:18
Looks like he's moved to Scunny. :/

Disappointed with that but I guess it'll be good for his development and more money for the club.

3.) 10 Jan 2018 16:40:23
He's only going to scunny on loan, signing new three year contract with forest.

4.) 10 Jan 2018 20:07:55
Yes, I know.

Disappointed that he's not at Notts. I rather enjoyed seeing the forest lads doing well over the river.

I hoped we were building a good relationship so we could loan out more players and benefit as a city.
If they don't win promotion we will be blamed and they might be partially right.

5.) 10 Jan 2018 20:29:04
Another good stepping stone for Yates though,up another league with a side pushing for promotion.
I know Notts fans rate him highly, but the lad wants to make it with forest and this will be a good move and test for him during his development.

6.) 10 Jan 2018 20:31:07
Scunny are League 1 so is a step up guess if he makes the step up there and impresses like he has done in League 2 for County then he might be given chance next season for Forest!

What would people like to see us try to sign in Jan (position wise)

Personally I would see a centre back maybe on loan as already can see Fox, Dawson and Hef missing games injured, a leftback, a winger and maybe a young striker.

24 Aug 2018 13:42:19
I think it is crazy that we are considering moving Worrall or Brereton on!
These kids (like Cash and Osbourn to come extent) came into a team struggling near the bottom of the league and played very well. In fact they were over the last few seasons some of our best players making experiences pros look lazy and lacking in quality. This lend to some big rumours about their future.
I know we have now bought in more experience and class but am I the only one right now who would like to see how Brereton or Worrall would do with quality like Pants, Byram, Dawson etc by their side or with a fit and in form Geddy or Carvalho or Soudani playing passes to Brereton feet?
I felt in the last few seasons we relied to heavily on kids and put too much pressure on them but now I worry we will regret it we move them on and are left with old has been a who will retire soon.
Replacing Brereton with Defoe as someone suggested is like replacing your 55 inch LG smart TV with a Fujitsu and a Betamax.

RedRascal

1.) 24 Aug 2018 14:29:30
I agree with all that. Up to your last paragraph. I'd take loaning Brereton out and getting Defoe in for the season in a heartbeat.

2.) 24 Aug 2018 14:39:56
I agree with all that too Red Rascal, except nothing beats an ITT model!!! 📺📺📺😂😂😂

3.) 24 Aug 2018 16:12:24
If Worrall goes on loan to Rangers it will be the making of him playing in such a high pressure goldfish bowl that is Glasgow.
He will come back a £20m defender as he will have improved his concentration levels which is the main thing missing from his game. He might even learn how to score a few?

They should send Brereton up there on loan as well as his confidence will go through the roof and his value!.
There you go I've just improved their value by £20m so why all the moaning?

Cummings and McKay struggle because neither can cope with week in week out big match pressure

4.) 24 Aug 2018 17:59:19
In that case Cummings !Mckay who played up for a few years should be brimming with confidence ,confidence is usually down to the manager to install ,simple as that.
CARLO

5.) 24 Aug 2018 19:42:01
I don't think that the SPFL is any better than league one as a whole. I am not sure how much they would benefit from it.

6.) 25 Aug 2018 15:27:28
I would be happy for young lads to go out on loan but it sounds like we could cash in and for less money than has been turned down (rumoured) than past offers! Seems madness to me. We better have some big extras (sell on etc) on top. Also if Brereton goes I feel we are light on strikers! Murphy will not stay fit all season at his age. Soudani isn’t an out and out striker (nither is Clough if he even stays) and Vellios isn’t even in the squad now so that leaves just Grabban really!?!
I don’t see logic here, we MUST get someone in maybe even two unless is Karanka planning on playing The Hef up front?

20 Aug 2018 12:30:09
What about trying 3-4-3 with Hef, Fox and Robinson as back 3 then Cash Geddy Carvalho and Osbourn as 4 and Soudani, Grabban and Lolley or similar.

RedRascal

1.) 20 Aug 2018 21:45:20
I'd go with a 442 formation at present at least at home
Pants
Byram Dawson fox Robinson
Cash geddy colback lolley
Soudani grabbon
Subs
Brereton osbourne Dias Watson calvalho concalves
Fig Hef
Then it's upto these subs to take there chance when they get it.

2.) 20 Aug 2018 21:47:58
Like i idea of that formation and if we did play that i woukd go for

Pants
Fox (lcb)
Fig (rcb)
Dawson (cb)
Cash (RWB)
Robinson (LWB)
Colbeck (CM)
Carvahlo (CM)
Lolley (LW)
Soudia (RW)
Grabbon (ST)

3.) 21 Aug 2018 05:28:25
I would like the team on Saturday to be
steele
byram
hefele
fox
Robinson
colback or Watson
cash
dias
Carvalho
Osborn
soudani

4/1/4/1

I would go 4/4/2 at home but let's be honest karanka is never going to play 2 up top.

04 Jul 2018 12:36:57
Joe Worrall has posted a photo of him and Armand Traoure on Instagram together watching the England game. I had presumed Traoure was in his way out as hasn't been seen with squad at training camp this week however he did miss the World Cup due to injury (he was in Senegal's squad for their friendlies pre-tournament) so maybe he isn't fit. could he still be in Forests plans? He wouldn't be bad to keep about as can cover in back three or leftwing back and after his loan at Cardiff, where he played well at Left wingback, having experienced promotion he should be high on confidence!

RedRascal

1.) 04 Jul 2018 15:26:24
I would rather see him go. I feel he is past his best and injury prone. Now we have Robinson and Osborn (possibly another signing such as Fabio) who can play that role.

Mid-table championship side or League 1 would be better for him

Loan would be most likely but haven’t heard owt about it, only striker talk is the Mendy lad whose record doesn’t scream goal scorer, think he scored 7 goals in 30 odd games.

Expect Steele to go to Millwall, Ariyibi was reported to have several clubs interested in him and Murphy and Cummins. Weirdly I might actually want to keep hold of at least one of those if we don’t sign a striker. Pep also was expected to leave with several European clubs interested but haven’t heard much on that in last few days. is the loan window still open after tomorrow?

Pants is god awful and both him and Steele aren’t going to go up in price or be any sort of long term solution. Muric might be class long term but won’t be here next year. Both Samba and Carson would be a step up.
Still not top priority in my eyes but strikers who score are hard to find and cost a lot. still hope we can pull something off up front!

Watson won’t be in team long, Sow will replace him and once Carvalho is back Silva will move back and fight with Sow and Semedo for midfield place, is also now rumours Colback might be back on. Watson won’t get a look in unless we have major injuries.
Worrall is still learning and can do a job in my eyes though I expect Milosevic and either a new player (we seem to be being linked to Centre backs) or Fig to take long term places as we know Daws won’t stay fit long.
If we sign Colback and this lad from Levante and Samba in goal I think we have a very strong squad with depth, need to move a host of players on (Steele, Pants, Benyoune, Pep, Bridcutt, Clough, Ariyibi, Cummings, Murphy probably some others I forget! ) and sign another quality striker and i will be very happy.

Silva will take free kicks and pens when on pitch I think him, Carvalho, Lolley, Adomah and Grabban will all get into double figures. If Mir and Ameobi can have good seasons we will do well if not who knows. still want another striker especially now Walker has gone as Cummings and Murphy shouldn’t be playing in red for us again!

Completely agree with you Red. Not just WBA but several others such as the Sheep have lost players and not replaced them due to loans going home or selling best players.
We lost Osbourn but Ribeiro is better at left back for sure and Semedo and Ameobi certainly are potentially as good. Colback looked like a loss but Samba Sow is a beast and I think he will show that to fans who haven’t seen him but are quick to judge.
We needed fire power and I think Uncle Albert and Silva can help to create and score though I would still like to see another striker join.
In general though I think our squad is better than it was and we have a manager now who likes to attack more and I feel many teams in this league are weaker than last year!
We still have time to get players in and out. Squad numbers don’t really mean anything!

We do have another lad who started out as a right back, played well and was a team regular at the end of last season and who might struggle due to new signing to get in the team in that position so potentially might be used as right back at times this season. Ryan Yates.

Uncle Albert will score goals and I think this manager will use Carvalho better than MON and both him and Silva will chip in too.
Would ideally like to see a right back and another Striker now and see Steele or Smith, Pep, Hefele, Bridcutt, Cummings, Clough and Murphy moved out before end of the window but I rate the signings who have come in just worry about if the lads who haven’t played in this country or league before will settle.
