On paper our side is weaker than last season, although arguably a stronger manager. Anderson has gone, and although I have not seen the new Austrian play, it is safe to say, Anderson is a big loss. There has been a 3 month gap for most, so there may be some improvements and some players noticeably older.

I am uncertain why there have been just one signing 3 weeks away from the Leeds match. Now OG patently perceives his side is one with great potential even without Elliot. Togetherness should be greater than last season in theory. So do the pluses outway the negatives?

Nuno, I believe you have addressed your query in your initial statement. The arrival of new players is certainly essential. We require quality rather than quantity and should avoid hasty, panic-driven acquisitions.

Both good posts. It's certainly "arguable" that OG is a stronger manager than VP. Time (and results) will tell. VP certainly had them purring towards the end of last season, but he's gone, and it's over to OG to maintain that trend.
I did read in The Athletic that, before the Portugal trip, OG had a lengthy boardroom meeting with Mr M and his advisers at the WFCG, which started at 4.30pm and didn't finish until 9pm, overrunning the expected time by 2 hours.

The meeting was exclusively about transfers in and out.
I'd love to have been a fly on the wall...

Good post.
I wonder was said at the meeting?
Hopefully no appeasement towards Glasner.?

I presume VP organised this Portugal trip against teams most of us have never heard of. Meanwhile Wrexham are playing MU and Leeds and Sunderland are inna tournament with Liverpool, to name a few. Different next year I expect.

I am sure you all are aware that Forests preseason starts today. Bringing us from the highs and lows of the World Cup... is a match against the mighty Notts County! Now we are talking real football, with the FIFA cronies 10,000 miles distant.

A bad workman (TT) always blames his tools ( His players).

Over the last half century we have had the quality players some years better than others. In the end it boils down to a manager. Look at Liverpool and Slot, United and Amorin, Forest and …….!
TT has to take the blame, he chooses the side and picks the team and the substitutes. No one last night would have started with a different 11. But 100% would have NOT changed the players and the resulting game, as TT did.

We all know what would happen if Big M was in charge, but is the FA and they have been ultimately responsible for our long wait for National silverware. My heart goes out to the 20,000 fans who have thrown £1000s to watch England and of course the players who you could not doubt their commitment. Of course the Premier League pay and effectively train the Argentine team, but that’s another story.

I think MM, the side VP, will pick the AV. It is the side from last Thursday, assuming injuries have resolved. Although last night demonstrated we have a very strong 2nd 11. There is no doubt it will be a feisty match, and AV will try to nail Anderson. Although, as he is from the NE, he will take no prisoners either! I am looking forward to this match.

MGW will desperately want to play, but it's the medical team's decision.

It is disappointing that neither Netz or Awoniyi are in the squad! Was this SD's decision? Do we get another chance to pick a squad for the final.

My belief is the next manager will be Da Silva. What is 8 million compensation to Fulham as far as Forest’s fortunes are concerned. We won’t need to worry re worsening our financial viability, as Nuno got a quick job it saved us a few million at least.

Mateta would be a move in the right direction, followed by Wharton, and really that's all we need.

As you know, Messi went into a wide position? Surely, Anderson was not expected to follow unless asked to, as he would be completely out of position. Maybe TT should have brought on O'Reilly to man mark him. Also, why was the Argentine player who deliberately elbowed Anderson in the back of the neck not even given a card, never mind being sent off?

The game had zero meaning for anyone. Mbappe was smiling when France were 2 down in 20 mins. I turned off. A game that ends with 10 goals between two sides in the top 4 in the world is a joke. We should be in the final today, and it's clearly TT's fault, not the players.

For a German to insult the DNA of English players is surely unpardonable and unforgivable. Worthy of the sack alone never mind the debacle of Wednesday night. If I were Bellingham or Kane or Anderson I would down tools
