We seem never to look in our own back yard for new players - why?

Also our B team our under 18 do they not have potentially good players coming through - why not

I believe our recruiters who ever they are, are our weak link, ie we are only occasionally linked to players in the lower English divisions. If this Italian is a possibility, has you tube been the method of evaluating? Considering we might be paying him a 6 figure salary if he is on loan. This seems very poor business sense. Also the club want to sell him? Why

Our aim should be to get players who are already playing premiership football, like strand Larsen. He might be saying to his agent I don’t want to move to a club 3 places above Wolves. This has been our problem ever since we were promoted. The deal that brought Anderson was an eye opener but I think related more to Newcastle balancing their books.

What the recruiters need to understand is any one from a warmer climate is going to take time to settle, never mind accomodating to the premier league.
There is no doubt everyone on this site wants a striker. SD will saying this everyday. The worry is that he will not be given a say, yet will take the brunt of criticism from fans if the striker is pants.
Ndoye and MCatee people want the club to sell. On what criteria were they bought and are we being to short sighted moving them on early.
People blame SD because our only other striker was moved on, but I suspect he had no control and it was a financial decision from on high.

One name EDU!

2.) 21 Jan 2026 18:12:56
Another good post Nuno! ??????.

3.) 21 Jan 2026 18:50:26
So nononuno now your agreeing with your good pal nuno when he said edus signings wernt good enough ?. don't really care what anyone says dyche doesn't know what tactics are. and we will get found out tmoz by a poor Portuguese side.

4.) 21 Jan 2026 19:12:53
Carlo is right though skeggs edu only sorts things out with the agents, our head of recruitment identifies the players who is Portuguese and seeing as you know that you'll know his name ??.

5.) 21 Jan 2026 19:53:03
I totally agree with you Nuno.

6.) 21 Jan 2026 20:05:59
At the end of the day. fans on here only see what suits them edu is in charge of overseeing all transfers in and out plus strategy and tactics fact a coach his a coach has I've been reminded lots of times his job his to coach the players given to him by you know who. dyche can't coach or put any tactics into the team has he as none fact and most of you wanted rid of nuno because of his boring football that got us into Europe.

So when we get hammered by a useless Portuguese team tmoz think of nuno smoking a big far cigar with a smile on his face because he was right about recruitment and edu which you are all moaning about now. and me collecting my free beer for a couple of weeks ? ?.

7.) 21 Jan 2026 20:10:06
Like i say the academy players will start coming through in the next 2 to 5 years, nothing in B team at the moment.

A great fighting draw for the reds yesterday and a marker in the sand. Demonstrating the togetherness of the squad.
There is a dilemma for SD this week with the European game. Does he play the‘ First half Wrexham side ‘ or the whole match Arsenal. Some might day it’s obvious however you don’t want to wear your first team out and then fluff the Brentford game.

MGW could do with his batteries recharging.
I would keep Sels and of course Aina and bring in Savona. Maybe the Serbinator and Cunha. Midfield Yates for a half with his and Luiz guidance alongside McAtee. Then Bakma Ndoye with Jesus.
It’s a difficult one and a good banter thread.

Nononuno

1.) 18 Jan 2026 17:29:20
We've got 6 games to play in 21 days
Jesus will have to be rested as our only available striker
I think aina and Williams plus MGW abd Anderson need resting and focus on brentford
Goalkeepers don't really need resting cuhna and Hutchinson can't play as not in the squad
I think he'll go
Sels
Savona
Milenkovic
Murillo
Aina
Yates
Luiz
Macatee
Bakwa
Ndoye
Jesus but not for 90 mins.

2.) 18 Jan 2026 18:20:15
It’s a tough one Nuno because I don’t know much about Braga except they are 5th in the Portuguese League way off in points to the top 2. They are playing a team 2nd bottom as I type this.

They are above us in the Europa having won 4 drawn 1 and lost 1.
Unlike SD who will have them scouted they’re a mystery to me so I wouldn’t know what team to put out mate.

3.) 18 Jan 2026 18:41:10
Didn’t we play them in pre season last year or recently? It’s a tough one team selection wise because Europa is a back door to European Cgampions football so SD will want to give it a fair crack but Brentford is a tough away fixture and priority atm I think.

I’d probably have Sels in there, and a run out for Savona. Yates, Luiz, Ndoye, Cubiano Hutch and McAteer but rest the likes of Murillo, Anderson, MGW, Sanghere, CHO and Jesus. But who knows the strengths of the opposition?

4.) 18 Jan 2026 18:51:41
Cant play Hutchinson, cuhna, cubiano.

5.) 18 Jan 2026 19:26:02
Of course, I forgot that DTP. Just had a look at their line up tonight. I remember Moutinho when he played for Wolves, ( 39 now) and thought it was our Moussa Niakhate at centre back ( but it isn’t). So, still non the wiser as to what to expect or what team to put out.

6.) 18 Jan 2026 19:27:58
Could start strong and pull “ first teamers “ off early if and when we get a good lead. But that would be reckless in my opinion.
Having said that, the reverse didn’t work against Wrexham did it?

7.) 18 Jan 2026 19:39:30
Don't think dyche will risk that tbh
Bakwa, mcatee, ndoye, luiz all have something to prove to dyche now, they've had a public dressing down and maybe they will respond to that?

8.) 18 Jan 2026 20:35:50
When Zinchenko was amitted from the squad to make way for Aina, might have been wiser to include Awoniyi instead, might have had better luck against lesser?, teams. Braga's coach learnt his trade at man city's under 18's teams for 7 years, so should know everything about McAtee, Braga's his first crack at head coach.

9.) 18 Jan 2026 21:04:09
Doesn't work like that mossey mate
Aina was originally on the squad but was replaced by zinchenko through injury, now he's fit again he's allowed back, you can't swap players about till the next phase.

10.) 18 Jan 2026 21:40:37
Didn't know that DTP, the cunumdrum of finding a solution to playing Jesus every game still stands?.

11.) 18 Jan 2026 21:50:55
Yep he gets injured and we are well and truly screwed as it stands.

08 Jan 2026 13:58:00
Can I remind everyone that we have had a long term problem with recruitment? ie it’s not just Edu but stretches back a few years. At the time of the playoffs with SC we had an excellent team with 6 loanees.

For reasons we are not privy to all of them were money on. We were then ridiculed at the huge of players signed. Awonyi was one of these. Now I do feel for him but we had a single good season out of him and that’s that. Where are the scouts in say Ireland looking for the next Roy Keane? Why didn’t we pick up the young lad from Rochdale signed by Wolves who at 18 yr is creating a lot of interest.

Why do we have an obsession with players from Brazil? It must be related to those non -UK born recruiting agents. Football is still every boys dream? There are 1000’s of teams out there. My point is a player like Anderson has lived football all his life. He understands English football.

Totally agree, send the academy lads and a handful of bench warmers. Bigger fish to fry this season in staying up and Europe. ?.

2.) 08 Jan 2026 15:21:35
Duh was meant to be below on Gazzas post. ?.

Williams was my MOM.

2.) 07 Jan 2026 13:35:27
I like that Nuno! ……???.

03 Jan 2026 10:38:29
We are going to see a positive side to Forest today. As a proven goal scorer I would start MGW or Kalii.

Just a point about the 50 crosses. We done HO and MH for attacking aggressively to achieve this. I suspect there would have been more corners as well. Unlucky I would say that one didn’t fall the right way for a goal

Do any of you know that a Burnley pub was renamed the Dyche Arms

COYR.

Nononuno

1.) 03 Jan 2026 11:52:25
He'd be better off trying to run that pub ??.

2.) 03 Jan 2026 12:10:49
What was the pub called before The No Hope Inn.
Proven goalscorer MGW ?? couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo. Health and Saftey warning to all in Row Z.

3.) 03 Jan 2026 13:13:23
Not unlucky at all. It was just down to poor and incompetent tactics by Dyche. Definition of insanity. Doing the same thing and expecting different results.

My belief is the next manager will be Da Silva. What is 8 million compensation to Fulham as far as Forest’s fortunes are concerned. We won’t need to worry re worsening our financial viability, as Nuno got a quick job it saved us a few million at least.

This nonsense about long ball tactics by SD just does not fit. It didn’t happen against Arsenal. On the contrary instead of going 5 at the back he brought on attacking players. They did not sit back but continued to go forward.
There have been many instances where playing out grom the back ( the corollary to a long ball ) can get players into trouble.

Do people consider that better than a goal keeper sending a ball deep into the opposing half or a defender clearing their lines. There is a place for both of course. I do not see evidence that SD encourages or discourages either.

Never apologise Stokey, for anything as you always say what is in your own mind and feel correct. I am 100% an SD supporter as I also was SC. There is no doubt we will end up mid to lower table. Our problem is the players that will then feel they have achieved all they can at the City Ground. Who would blame, Anderson, MGW and Murillo if they moved on.

Personally I believe McAtee was bought as a potential replacement for Anderson or MGW.
One aspect of Nunos time is he came in when a squad had gelled with SC. This has happened this season at Brentford. Next season there will be big changes and SD is needed to gel the squad together.

Stokey I agree. There are some in this web site that forget last years FAcup early rounds and a penalty shoot out against Exeter! Also a Swansea defeat this season ( Nuno ).
I watched the whole match and yes was entertained. My own view is that McAtee played as well as a recent Anderson , he is only 21. He will come good in the fullness of time. Poor Morato tried to protect Cunha and slipped up in his own role.
All the goals scored were well taken for both sides. Jesus goal was a great header and OD third was a worthy goal of the season. This was always going to be a tricky away match. No way was this result SDs fault as a manager.

This was a second string expensive side which all of us if we are honest would have started with giving them a chance to shine. SD was right to criticize them. The TNT commentators said exactly the same thing at half time.
We will see similar casualties from the premiership today. As with us it allows the manager to try different players in a pressure match. To lesser teams such as Wrexham a chance to progress and they deserved to
To survive this season is our aim maybe do well in Europe for the first time in a while
We will not be relegated I am confident. SD should then be given a decent contract.

McAtee must play tomorrow night. He was a Man City trainee and captain of the England under 21 which won the European trophy. Lee Carsley must have thought he had qualities to make him captain.

I admit watching these under 21 matches, Harvey Elliot impressed me more. Yet he has not done well at AV.
McAtee is young and if anybody can get the best out of him it’s SD.
