I am completely indifferent whether Arsenal would n tonight. The team has two British players starting, and one British player (picked by Touchel) on the bench. As is commonplace, the manager is not from the UK. That is why I will watch England in the Wield cup as they are all English... except TT.

Ed I should say club trophy as Lee Carsley and our very own Steve Cooper won trophies with England.

Nononuno

{Ed001's Note - yeah I was assuming club trophy, never even considered international stuff.}

Ed a question - who was the last English born manager to win a European trophy.

Nononuno

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, at a guess I would say Joe Fagan but I honestly don't know and I don't want to cheat and look it up in case you are asking because you do know, rather than asking for information.}

No, it was an honest question. I was thinking BC and had forgotten Fagin. My point being, it's a very long time ago!

I expect Anderson will go to Manchester United with a player swop plus cash. So one of their forwards? Wissa or Cunha! We may have little choice but should hold out.

Wises plays for Newcastle, and I wouldn't want him gift wrapped.

2.) 27 May 2026 09:29:31
Wissa.

3.) 27 May 2026 09:29:41
Wissa.

4.) 27 May 2026 16:46:15
Apologies, I meant Muembo.

5.) 27 May 2026 16:58:28
Chuffing hell, Nuno, I'm glad you're not in charge of recruitment, mate. We wouldn't know who was coming through the door. ?????

That was definitely a game of two halves! Anderson was imperious and linked with MGW and vice versa. Second half Forest's tempo dropped and as soon as Anderson went off MGW's game wilted. Sels again kept us in the game. Not sure why VP didn’t start with Netz. Have a good summer everyone.

I agree with that, Nuno. Perhaps Nottingham Forest wilted in the sun, and Bournemouth got word that a win might give them Champions League football. Mind you, MGW very nearly nicked it in the end, a miracle-saving block in the 6-yard box.
I was looking at the concluding stats. VP got 17 points from 12 games, not much different than SD's 22 from 18.
Likewise, when SD left, we were 4 points above the relegation spot, and by yesterday we were 5 points clear.
But there is a world of difference in attitude, application, and the feel-good factor around the WFCG. I just hope Mr M keeps VP onside and happy in a way he didn't with Nuno.

He will know, having appointed (and sacked) him at Olympiakos, that if he sells his best players and doesn't replace them with the same quality, VP will leave as he did at Wolves. The summer is going to be very interesting I think...
By the way, I was very moved by the John Robertson tribute (completely overshadowed and ignored in the media, who focused entirely on Salah's lachrymose Liverpool exit). Also, Neco's presentation at the end.
It's been quite a season, one way and another, but one defeat in ten (and that defeat due to a reffing blooper) is a great way to finish. Coyr!

2.) 25 May 2026 16:20:14
Yes, I thought overlooking Robbo was sacrilege!

3.) 25 May 2026 21:44:46
Lol, Stokie, SD was crap, never mind about stats. If you look at your stats, if VP had another 18 points to play for, if they'd of had the same amount of games in charge, also I would say VP had the stronger opposition in games. And what happened to us finishing mid table?. ? Just saying.

4.) 25 May 2026 22:09:42
All "ifs", Skegs, mate. Like, "If that dog hadn't stopped for a ? it, it would have caught that rabbit ?." ???.
Seriously, 44 points last season would have got us 13th.
But it's been a bumpy ride.

I'm ready for my cruise and a bit of cricket. If I'm really bored and at a loose end, I might watch some of the World Cup.
But that's what being a Red is all about....

5.) 25 May 2026 22:37:11
Stokey Dyche should never have been let near Forest.
Wrong attitude and a throwback to the 70s and 80s with his one tactic.

6.) 26 May 2026 09:35:50
But we gratefully accept the 22 points he got for us don't we? Or shall we contact the Prem and ask them to dock us because we all hate Dychey. ????
Honestly, you'll be slagging off Cooper and Nuno next... er, hang on. ???
By the way, Skeggs, my prediction of mid table finish (only slightly below par in the event points wise) always carried the caveat that we would need key players available.

In the run-in, we lost Murillo, CHO, MGW and Aina. But VP did a great job anyway.

I think MM, the side VP, will pick the AV. It is the side from last Thursday, assuming injuries have resolved. Although last night demonstrated we have a very strong 2nd 11. There is no doubt it will be a feisty match, and AV will try to nail Anderson. Although, as he is from the NE, he will take no prisoners either! I am looking forward to this match.

MGW will desperately want to play, but it's the medical team's decision.

It is disappointing that neither Netz or Awoniyi are in the squad! Was this SD's decision? Do we get another chance to pick a squad for the final.

My belief is the next manager will be Da Silva. What is 8 million compensation to Fulham as far as Forest’s fortunes are concerned. We won’t need to worry re worsening our financial viability, as Nuno got a quick job it saved us a few million at least.

Apology may be due, as Middlesbrough had a very good win ratio with him in the team. Then, 8 weeks ago (BBC), he was injured, and it may have been his first game back.

To state the obvious, the team is composed only of Englishmen. How many teams in the Premiership contain a mere 1/5 th of English born players in their team? Very few, if any. The FA appointed a German manager, so this is what you get. Essentially, we know the starting 11 and Mgw would have difficulty getting into that, even if picked to go.

Should the side survive the heat and reach the next round, Tuchel will be offered a new contract, ie the FA consider that success. Meanwhile, a proven very successful England manager is languishing, ie Mr Carsley.

DTP, I think Bournemouth will sneak into a European cup of one sort or another, so their players will not be interested in us!
It will be a test for us on Sunday, but if the team plays with the same zeal as against United, it will be an entertaining match.
