Can I say, well done VP. This was Forest at their best. Do we really need a new striker when we have Jesus, Wood and Tiawo! Who said 442 was a thing of the past? It certainly works for us in goal scoring and getting the best out of MGW. What a reward for the traveling cohort of Red fans who I am sure couldn’t believe what was happening! They played as a team. Hopefully Cunha injury is not serious as he definitely an asset as it’s Netz.

If by the end of tomorrow we are a 100% safe, maybe more fringe players can be blooded? I hope Anderson’s head is not turned by one of the big clubs. He must realise that the atmosphere at Forest is one he might not find elsewhere. Should we manage to beat AV which is a real challenge, maybe he might stay?

We can't mathematically be 100 per cent safe by today. No no no, mate.

Sorry, that should read NoNo...

I think all of us would have picked the same side as tonight. Hopefully now room for Tiawo at 60 mins.

100% mate.
Can't wait to watch it.
A win, and it's between Spurs and West Ham.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

View from the Trent End. First half nothing clicked with really any of the team. Maybe this was a very emotional 45 minutes. Anderson was obviously very moved by the compassion shown by everybody in the ground. I have no doubt the option of not playing was given to Anderson but he chose to play. So let's forget that half of football. Reshuffling to a 4, 4, 2, was the major changing point in the game. MGW must have donned new boots at halftime as there was no stopping him. Also Hutchison started to take on players and of course had an assist. Jair Cunha had an excellent 30 mins or so and is definitely a major asset. In fact all the players in the second half stepped up a gear.

Although I have my doubts about Jesus is goal should help his confidence. Yates is a genuine box to box player with endless energy. I suspect he dislikes being told to stay in front of the defence. Wood made some good passes but I suspect it will be a while for him to come up to speed. Can we rely on him next season? If the conclusion of this season is we needed Wood all season well we have to look for a replacement. Tiawo, I hope can continue to have role at the club but currently is third in line in the strikers position. Remember MCatee was bought as a MGW replacement I am sure. As usual next season we will have trouble getting good players to sign for us.

Why don't we play 4.4 2 against Sunderland, and hopefully get a point or 3 if possible.

2.) 20 Apr 2026 18:52:23
The real reason why MGW came good in the second half was because he wasn't covering and carrying that useless Bakwa. It doesn't matter how good you are, you can't play in two positions in the Premier League. Not any league, for that matter.

3.) 20 Apr 2026 19:11:59
I didn't see 442 at all.
MGW played left wing and Jesus as number ten, with Wood up top, giv8ng MGW freedom to get into the box.

4.) 20 Apr 2026 19:55:24
It could have been the best decision Mr M has made, for a change, stepping in and not selling him. Because keeping us up would have been worth more than the 60 million we would have got for him. Do I rate him as a great, consistent player? No. And how he and his agent tried to get a move on the sly, the Judas; I will not forgive him.

But if those 3 goals keep us up and we get good money for him, come in, happy days. That's all I have to say about MGW. For me, I would give Williams the armband for next season. We need a proper revamp of the team and manager come summer, and a manager that can stand up to Mr M. Also, please Mr M, leave the manager alone to do his job.

5.) 20 Apr 2026 20:11:53
Excellent points, Skaggs, especially on Williams, player of the season for me, and should be captain when MGW goes, as he will come summer. As I posted earlier, I can see the manager from Fulham getting the gig. I believe he's worked with Mr M before, so knows how it works with our owner. Interesting times.

6.) 20 Apr 2026 20:17:59
He's worked with Vitor before, and Vitor has a better CV.
So why would he sack Vitor?

My worry is the old chestnut a striker. Wood, I suspect, should have time to recover from his red card incident that could have ended his career. Jesus tries hard but can’t seem to score, Louca? Even if he was a hidden talent, there isn’t time to discover.
So it seems there is one alternative left who seems mysteriously on the side lines - the one and only Tiawo Awonyi!
Surely he is a proven goal scorer who saved us from relegation in a previous season.

Whatever his personal beliefs are irrelevant as he is a Forest player through and through.

I'd definitely give Taiwo at least the first half, just for something different.

We have 2 very good gk, a good prem back 4, plus Sangare, mgw and Ando in midfield, all players who other teams would pay good money for.

It's up front n the wingers who are the problems.

Cho puts in 1 cross in 50 chances, Omari just so lightweight, 1 goal, couple of assists. Ndoye, Bakwa look out their depth, Jesus wanders off all over the place n got 3 league goals.

Calling out for Big T.

An entertaining match. Villa’s quick passing of the ball really put our more laboured approach to shame. Again we rode our luck. Maybe Villa were tired as most played last Thursday in Bologna. So what will
VP do this Thursday? Surely Sunday's game is significantly more important. So I would start with the same team as last Thursday including Wood up front.
Sadly Tiawo was not on the bench as he is both literally and figuratively head and shoulders above Jesus and even Wood atm.

Why does HO play on the left wing when he is left footed? He never today, went to the byline to cross always cutting in so is on his left foot. As a result he is ineffectual. Both MGW and Anderson shifted some ground today as did Ainia. Nico was a good choice as MofM and Sels saves kept us in the match. Would we have the same luck against Villa over two legs is uncertain. Whereas I think we should beat Burnley assuming we have a goal scorer up front!

McGinn is left footed, though.
Didn't seem to be a problem for him to run us ragged at times from the right wing.

2.) 12 Apr 2026 21:24:23
I agree. Logic tells you that your wingers should operate on whichever wing so they hit the by line and cross with their dominant foot, ie, if you are a right sided winger your strongest cross is with your right foot.

Now, the great John Robertson, although could play with both feet, played on the left wing for Forest because his left leg was the stronger. His crosses are legend.

3.) 12 Apr 2026 21:33:24

John Robertson was right footed.

That's why he took all his penalties with his right foot.

Though he was brilliant on his left as well. Other than George Best, I can't think of anyone better with both feet.

You wanna see me in the 80's Disco's mate!!!

2 left feet, Rogie. Unplayable!

My belief is the next manager will be Da Silva. What is 8 million compensation to Fulham as far as Forest’s fortunes are concerned. We won’t need to worry re worsening our financial viability, as Nuno got a quick job it saved us a few million at least.

Hutchison played for the England 21 who won the Europeans, for which Mactee was captain, incidentally. So both are rated highly by Lee Carsley, who I respect. We need all our players on board and encouraged in the run-in. I don’t need to tell anyone on this site what will happen if we keep losing and West Ham and Spurs keep winning.

So, let’s get right behind all our players who will help us stay up. I certainly don’t want the Championship, but win the Europa Cup.

I am also pleased Coventry made it. Can you remember when Southgate got Middlesbrough to a losing European Cup final? Next stop, England manager.
Lampard failed at Chelsea and Derby County. Yes, everyone deserves another chance, but Lampard as next England manager? I am not sure at all, and it would be another Southgate appt.

Alternatively - Sels, Ainia, Cunha, Serbinatior Williams
Sangare, Dominguez, McAtee
Hutchison, MGW, Awonyi

I don’t think he would play Netz (only that he hasn’t started before). If we are having a winger, it has to be Hutchison over Ndoye (N was poorer on Thursday). MGW is our central play maker and top scorer, so couldn’t be left out. Awonyi deserves to start, but I suspect it will be Jesus. McAtee was bought as an Anderson or MGW replacement.

I agree completely with the sentiment re Ando's mother. It is likely she was quite ill for a period before this. It is possibly an explanation for comments on this site, that his mind was elsewhere, which affected his play.
We all have our own stories to tell, and footballers are just the same, ie have mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, wives, children.

Difficulties with any of them could affect our job and enthusiasm for it, as it brings the reality of life and its fragility.
