Reports coming out that Houghton is leaving the club!
1.) 16 Sep 2021 08:29:33
Yipeeeee!
18 Aug 2021 22:45:16
New manager?
Chris wilder
Steve Jones
John Terry
Some unknown Germans or Danish bloke?
Even with any of these I doubt much would change, the squad is just poor and thin. So the key focus has to be on recruitment for next two weeks and not a new a manager.
But CH has got to be on thin ice.
1.) 18 Aug 2021 23:10:19
Hughton was in charge of Norwich for 82 games with a win rate of 29.3
He's been in charge of forest for 48 games with a win rate of 29.2.
Norwich fans hated his brand of football and so do I.
It's awful and based on keeping clean sheets while nicking one at the other end.
Boring and outdated.
2.) 18 Aug 2021 23:15:14
Eddie Howe for me.
3.) 18 Aug 2021 23:41:46
New manager now would make it even more difficult. Need better players.
4.) 19 Aug 2021 07:56:57
Totally agree the focus needs to be on player recruitment for two weeks and if we fail to get in at least 6 first team standard players we will struggle and CH will be fired anyhow.
Eddie Howe would be a very good option but I just don't see him coming to sort this mess out.
Last summer was the disaster by firstly not firing SL at season end, then a disastrous recruitment spend followed up by the disappointing (as it turns out) appointment of CH. Thankfully a change at CEO level might help but can't help but feel this is over 1 year too late.
After over 40 years supporting the club I will stick with it but I have to say I have never felt so down about Forest and its prospects.
5.) 19 Aug 2021 08:17:59
Well said southwandy. What difference would a new manager make. 4 years of awful recruitment and chaotic management from the top will take more than a manager merry go round to sort out. I keep saying hughton may not be the right manager for us but judging him without allowing him to get a better tougher type of player in is totally unfair. He has over seen some quality loan signings and needs like you say another 6 better than average championship players.
6.) 19 Aug 2021 08:59:23
Yep let's stick with him and watch league one football next season.
They can build the new stand without inconveniencing the fans?
7.) 19 Aug 2021 10:24:26
Totally agree Wandy.
8.) 19 Aug 2021 17:06:28
@TWF
I agree mate. I've never felt so down about Forest. Even in League One I was more optimistic about the future than this. I just can't see anything getting better over the next couple of years.
Any new manager is going to face the same problems as CH i. e. rubbish players and no money to spend. Perhaps a new manager could do a little bit better than CH (perhaps mid-table), but unless he's a miracle-worker, the play-offs (or better) will be a distant dream.
9.) 19 Aug 2021 21:56:00
Can anybody tell me what CH is bringing to the table right now? Would like to be educated but I’ve got nothing to support him.
10.) 20 Aug 2021 09:39:50
A chair?
11.) 20 Aug 2021 17:28:14
Even though 14 players left the club this close season I still think there quite a few more that need to go on top of the three bomb squad rejects. And only then is the slate wiped clean for Hughton to mould his own squad.
12.) 20 Aug 2021 19:18:41
There are still players that need to leave, what i do not understand with some people is every other manager had to put up with a big squad of players that were not theirs yet just about everyone of them had a better win ratio, so why should Hughton be given more patience to mold the team.
13.) 21 Aug 2021 13:34:39
Uwe Rosler as new manager for me in the Jurgen Klopp mould high pressing attack minded and loves 4-3-3 was the founder of Brentfords style of play only 53 as well so not a fossil like CH.
30 Oct 2018 21:27:45
What a load of rubbish tonight.
Tactics and selection the team wrong.
Osborn is not a left back.
Watson is slow again.
Gonclaves not up to it.
Soudani no good a leading the line.
Should have selected Yocob to play instead of Watson.
Tactic of playing out of the back and letting teams press us high up the pitch is a massive mistake. Everyone watching this will do the same for the rest of the season. You can bet Sheffield United and Stoke will be doing it.
This is not promotion form at all. Would not be surprised to see more signings in January but I think it is not so much the players as tactics that is the problem.
1.) 31 Oct 2018 00:00:30
You could give ak another 10 players and he wouldn't know what to do with them. just look at cloughie - got no cash his players on paper not as good as ours, but they showed more skill on the ball, more movement passing, were better and they wanted it more.
2.) 31 Oct 2018 09:14:47
A better manager would put out his strongest team put the game to bed and the make changes. The seasoned pro's will be livid as they want to go to wembley and get silverware. To be left out and see this pathetic effort after getting past newcastle and stoke will hurt. Bare in mind this was an away fixture against a lowly club where our so called style fits better away from home, why make the changes. Gives him an excuse i reckon.
3.) 31 Oct 2018 09:18:38
I think we need to stop comparing every manager we have to Cloughie. That was 40 years ago when he took over and, let's face it, there will never another manager that comes close to him. Playing 2 defensive minded midfielders and 2 Portuguese players who aren't used to being closed down so quickly was always a bad idea.
4.) 01 Nov 2018 00:03:42
Rutland the seasoned pros are the ones that let us down
5.) 01 Nov 2018 09:34:42
If the manager had put out the same team after Saturday's high tempo game they would have been goosed for Saturday!
Those that came in and did not perform cannot now complain when they have to wait for another game. It's called squad management!
Yacoub will now get his chance and this will stiffen up the midfield for the front 4 to be more direct!
10 Aug 2014 09:18:04
Nixon reckons forest are in for Zaha on loan. Cannot see it myself and I would rather we spent the salary on keeping Lansbury.
1.) 10 Aug 2014 09:45:16
who exactly is this Nixon please?
{Ed034's Note - he is a football reporter for one of the red topped newspapers
2.) He seems fairly clued up but bit of a know all and can be arsey if you don't agree with every thing he has to say.
{Ed034's Note - as do I. The guy has blocked me
3.) Maybe we are interested but so are about 6 Premiership teams, both Newcastle & Saints have made approaches for him.
4.) Blocked me too, for disagreeing with him on the Lansbury saga.
5.) Blocked me for saying he was anti #NFFC. Wasn't abusive in anyway shape or form. Any gossip on potential signings Ed?
{Ed034's Note - he has mentioned we are interested in zaha but so are two prem sides
6.) Ed, any idea if arsenal have a sell on agreement in the Lansbury contract which will see us net even less if he goes?
{Ed034's Note - I believe it do be around 15%
7.) Stay or go? What do you think ED?
{Ed034's Note - I think he'll go

What a great transfer window. Kept our best players, got rid of a lot of deadwood and signed some good solid additions.
The squad now looks much better balanced and crucially is much younger.
GK - Samba, Horvath, Smith
RB - Spence, Laryea
LB - Lowe, Bong
CB - Worrall, McKenna, Cook, Mbe Soh, Panzo, Figs
Midfield - Colback, Yates, Garner, Ojeda, Cafu
AM / Wingers - Johnson, Zinkernagel, Lolley, Mighton, Silva
Forwards - Davis, Grabban. Surridge
Supported by a few of the academy coming through. to me looks much better but we still rely too much on loans.
Probably overstocked with CD's so it is shame that Figs did not leave for everyones sake.
Plenty of work to do in the summer whether we go up or stay in the Championship. There is likely to around 9 of this squad leave through loans or contract ending. More opportunity for upgrades!

1.) 02 Feb 2022 20:29:42
Why do people bang on about mb soh. He was injured when we bought him and he was 19 then and hardly kicked a ball. Pay him off.
2.) 02 Feb 2022 20:50:40
Im sure the lad has potential rutters mate, or he'd have gone long ago. Keep the faith. We all need a chance in life.
3.) 02 Feb 2022 23:38:34
Just one that I’d change on the squad list southwandy, I’d chuck out Bong to the bomb squad and put Colback as the other right back as i believe that he would get in infront of Bong. His contract is up at the end of the season and i hope he don’t get any more pitch time in the mean time.
4.) 03 Feb 2022 00:14:25
Some good work done in Murphy/ Cooper first transfer window. I just feel we needed either Bowler or Wallace in.
Lolley obviously has other issues, injuries, whatever going off and doesn’t look like he will be the same player again.
Mighten injured and still finding his way. Silva looks the part but can’t hit a barn door, leaving a massive over reliance on Johnson and Zink. These 2 tend to drift in and out of games. Look light in this area to me.
5.) 03 Feb 2022 10:11:14
Agree Perks. Was hoping we’d get Bowler over the line, maybe go back for him in the summer?
6.) 03 Feb 2022 10:28:36
Bowie mate I hear what you say. But he was no pedigree when we bought him and at 19 a development player in that position. He’s not big enough to play centre half and to bulky and slow to play anywhere else. It’s another mysterious purchase…
7.) 03 Feb 2022 10:52:09
6ft 1in and 'bulky' but not big enough to play centre-half?
Give him a break, he's a decent talent that's had a tough time with injuries.
Sign a 19yo for millions then 'pay him off' after a year? Glad you're not in Murphy's shoes lol.
19 Oct 2021 20:29:25
We have not been clinical enough tonight - creating chances but not finishing.
Sloppy goal to give away and I think Samba should have done better with the first shot.
But so much better to watch than under CH.
Hopefully we can turn this around!

1.) 19 Oct 2021 20:36:15
It's entertaining mate jonno very unlucky to hit the post.
Garner is having another bad game though, slow and weak in the tackle, wouldn't be surprised to see him replaced.
2.) 19 Oct 2021 20:48:56
Both teams had enough chances, just need to believe. Should be drawing for me. But that's football.
3.) 19 Oct 2021 21:13:29
Mighten for figs wow love it ðŸ‘.
02 Oct 2021 17:35:04
Great result today although we rode our luck in the first half. It is so nice to get some good luck for a change!
Samba was excellent today and saved this from being a 3-3 result. All the players put in a good shift today.
Good result to go into the international break with and hopefully two weeks on the training ground with Super Cooper will sort the defence out.
With also have 3 players to come into reckoning with the Brazilian, Paraguayan and Tunisian! Time for them to learn some English as well!
7 points off the play offs and 35 games to go!

And better!
Real cause for optimism!
Enjoy your weekend Fellow Trickies!

Going up.
We are going up.
01 Oct 2021 20:27:21
Whatever the formation that Cooper picks tomorrow he has to include Lolley. He simply loves playing against the Brum and has a great scoring record against them. Feeling confident that we can win or worse case grab a draw.

Great performance from the team tonight.
Pace, Passion and Precision when in possession. And for a change we had plenty of possession.
Great team performance all round.
Only negative was Figs once again showing why he should not be playing - makes too many key mistakes that end up in goals. Give the Brazilian lad a try or Mbe Soh in the back 3 on Sat.
Think we can win at Birmingham on Sat as well.

I am pleased that we are not doing the easy thing and re-signing all of the loanees. If we are to compete in the Premier League then we need to sign PL quality level players. The likes of Davis, Zink, and Garner were loaned to us because they were not ready or good enough for PL. Lowe and Spence were out of favour. Lowe is not PL standard and I would not want to pay over £10m for Spence who is also unproven at PL level or a top tier league in EU.
We have to hunt and sign players for the standard we are now going to have to compete at otherwise we will be straight back down again.
Having spent 23 years out of the PL, I think we are going to go for it by signing only first team ready players that can compete at PL level. Great news but going to be tough and expensive!
01 Jan 2022 20:23:15
great news - that is a massive win for us. Much bigger than Davies signing.
Still work to do :-
Secure Lowe for rest of season
Replace Tutu (injury prone) with a perm signing as challenger for LB
Replace Figs with Steve Cook
Let the Tunisian lad go - use Back as 2nd choice or get another RB in
Get Carvalho out and replace with a proven champ attacking midfielder
Fingers crossed that there is a good plan for this month - looks like that might be on the cards this year!

It would be better if the parachute payments were put in a pot that was shared out between all of the Championship and the relegated Premier league clubs based on their relative league position with the clubs relegated from championship missing out.
The concentration of cash in the yo - yo clubs is getting worse and as everyone is saying the three favourite next season to go up will be WBA, Fulham and Shef United. And the rest of the clubs cannot compete financial because of FFP.
I am afraid if they don't fix this then the championship will become predictable just like the premier league.
But I don't expect this will change.
28 Dec 2020 20:39:28
Let them both go. No goals in Geurero and better options at LB.
05 Feb 2023 10:14:27
Think we will see some new faces today.
Navas
Aurier Felipe Boli Lodi
Frueler Danilo Mangala
Johnson Wood Scarpa
MGW on the bench.
31 Aug 2022 20:12:06
Think we are being too optimistic playing two up front. Gibbs white needs to drop back and be much deeper. We need to avoid shipping 5 plus goals.
Clear our CB's are not premier league standard.
Fingers crossed that Haaland goes off soon! he is a beast.
03 Jan 2022 14:16:21
hopefully Figs - always makes mistakes that cost goals.
24 Oct 2021 18:50:54
Agreed on these point Stevie F.
Figs has never been good enough - I think he has been the cause of at least 4 goals this season alone.
Fulham are not that good - we made them look much better than they are. Perhaps a little bid of tiredness and over confidence. But Coopers comments after the match about the ref are spot on and also that this should not de-rail us. Take it on the chin and move on.
But we will need a couple of players in during the January transfer window.
On the parachute payment issue - completely agree and finally this is getting some attention. The continual yo-yo teams are really killing the premier league and EFL. The distribution of TV money has to be better shared out and the financial fair play rules need to be enforced consistently across all leagues - this is not happening at the top level.
But at least Man Utd losing 5-0 at home makes me feel a better!
24 Oct 2021 14:56:20
saying on the red button but it does not appear to be on? Anyone got it?
