To get a point after going down to ten men isn’t a terrible result. Colback getting the red killed that but if momentum we’d started to build.
It was a fairly boring game all in all but yet again Lyle Taylor does his best to just be useless, he can’t play with his back to goal, he doesn’t concentrate in what’s going on around him. I also thought Brennan had a poor game and was baffled as to why SC didn’t leave Zinck as the lone striker for the last part of the game, he’d looked a lot more threading throughout the course of the game

The defence on the whole was fairly solid as was the midfield, with Okeds putting in a very solid and respectable performance on his debut. Can definitely see him getting more game time and improving + gaining more confidence to try things.

As I said though the red card killed the game and any momentum we had.
On to the next one which will be a tough game but COYR!

Looking forward to tomorrow night!
It’ll be my first football game since pre-c.v. times.
I’m super excited for the atmosphere which has sounded electric since SC has taken over!
I’m hoping for a good solid performance and 3 points!

COYR!

Very good win yesterday! Steve cooper is setting a good standard so far and long may it continue.
I remember a good few months back everyone was moaning about a certain 4-2-3-1 formation and I always said that that formation can work and be effective both offensively and defensively it’s all about how the manager wants us to play. SC has proved me to be correct.

We were a bit sloppy at times but you cannot complain at winning 3-0 in this league. Think with a couple of solid additions in jan/ summer we’ll most certainly have a squad capable of reaching the plays offs. (We definitely need to keep Spence and Lowe though, both exceptional full backs especially Spence! ) .

Come on you reds!

Agree TrentEndRed. Now Warnock has gone I’m concerned that new manager may recall Spence, or some Premier League club puts in an offer in January. Also is Brennan hanging out to see if Forest get an unrefusable offer for him in January. Nevertheless have confidence in SC guiding us in the right direction and also encouraging more Academy youngsters.

Future looks good. Also hope we can do some good trading in January by offloading Bong, Cavalho and Taylor and strengthening the squad.

I’m actually pleased with the appointment of Cooper.
While on paper he might not look to play the most attacking creative football. What he did with Swansea and the youth teams prior to Swansea shows he’s very knowledgeable and results show he should be a success.

But for me what stands out is he was Dane Murphy number 1 choice, this tells me the club might be looking at him as a long term manager and putting a plan in place to ensure the improvement of our younger players and providing a platform for gradual improvement.

I think Cooper still be at the club for 3 or 4 years (yes I know that sounds optimistic and he’s only signed a 2 year deal) and believe with time he’ll take us up the the premier league.

It also shows murphy is in charge of recruitment, which makes a change.

2.) 21 Sep 2021 14:28:57
In Murphy We Trust! Well I do anyway.

3.) 21 Sep 2021 14:48:53
Great posts guys - hope everything you’ve all said is the case moving forward as it’s clearly what’s require .

4.) 21 Sep 2021 15:01:10
I'm right behind the appointment as well. Long term vision trumps quick fix mentality every time.

5.) 21 Sep 2021 15:31:33
It shows now that all power has been removed from Vrentroz and he's just a board member now.
Looks like murphy is a very driven person who gets his way.
The tide has turned we are on the up.

I think we will see a change in formation with the players we have signed.
I think we could see CH deploy a 3-4-3/ 5-2-3 formation.
The reason being the full backs (bar Dragger who is a defensive fullback) are offensive full backs, so I think we could see a back 3/ 5 brought in as an option for certain games.

If this is a potential scenario these would be our options:

GK - Samba, Horvath
RWB - Spence, TuTu, Richardson (back)
LWB - Lowe, TuTu, Richardson (bong)
CB - Worrall, Mbe Soh, McKenna, Figs, Ely, Dragger (think he’d play on the right of a bsck 3), Fernandes.
CM - Garner, Yates, New South American fella, Colback, Cafu
RW - Zinck, Lolley (silva)
LW - Johnson, Mighten (silva)
ST - Taylor, Silva, Grabban.

That’d be solid imo.
Though I’ll probably end up being wrong and CH will continue his 4-2-3-1 formation (a formation I have nothing wrong with just the tactics we play) . But the players in the squad would suit a 3-4-3/ 5-2-3 much better than a 4-2-3-1.

You, e left out two of our better young players Back and Fornah ,both be in my team.

2.) 09 Sep 2021 16:25:18
Just a thought why not try zink upfront he already looks more likely to score than grabs or Taylor you still have Joe and mighten in the wings.

3.) 09 Sep 2021 17:13:03
That's a lot of typing and thought gone into that trentend, good on ya.
But I could have saved you hours.

4-3-2-1, no shots on target and sacked by the end of next week.
He's lost the fans and there is no way back from that, we always win in the end 🎈.

4.) 09 Sep 2021 18:43:07
Red 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🐺.

5.) 09 Sep 2021 19:26:22
Dont worry about it trentend he said the same to corrie script writers. They all get knocked down by an old tram in the end 😉.

6.) 09 Sep 2021 21:10:19
Doubt you will ever see three at the back regardless of it suiting the players in the squad under hughton.
It will be more of the same but with different players.
At the end of the day it's his job on the line and after 40 odd games he won't accept that his formation isn't working, so he will face the inevitable.
The sad thing is its just another wasted season.

7.) 09 Sep 2021 22:01:34
Think it,s more like two seasons and maybe relegation!

Swansea might not have scored hat fulls of goals under Cooper if they were very well organised, defensively solid and were good going forward.
I’d be more than happy to have him as the next gaffer. Probably more so than Howe or Wilder, think they’re egos are a bit big and will likely fall out with the peers.

They’re also loan signings so not much chance of ‘building’ a squad.

He has to go now. If he’s still here after the derby game (even if we win) he has to go.
The football is horrible to watch and you can tell the players aren’t happy. It’s not a good mix and creates a toxic environment.
Get a younger manager in that has some passion and intensity about him.

Thought he had a good game, it was his debut so he kept things relatively simple and didn’t try anything overly flashy but with more game time and experience I think he could be a very good signing in the ling run.

He kept the ball moving nicely, showed some nice little touches when pressed, was like a pit bull trying to win the ball back. Hopefully he’ll take a few more risks if he’s given a run in the team.
Definitely a solid player though.

I’d happily have him back. He’s a steady championship player that can play a number of positions that’s the type of player we could do with. Great player to have on the bench and start the odd game when needed.
Would definitely improve under SC we’ve seen what he’s done to Ryan another steady championship player.

Definitely the best since Billy. Think time will tell whether he’s the best since Frank.
But I’m glad we have a manager that is getting the players to play for the shirt! It’s refreshing to see us want to score a late equaliser or winner instead of capitulating and conceding a few more!
Well done SC.

Think we could see that Arsenal lad back for that? If he’s back with us which I heard he was?

Harsh on Kabak there Ed thought he and nat Phillips had a solid partnership for a few months. If it wasn’t for them the scousers wouldn’t be in the champions league this season.
Granted he’s not a top CB, he’s a solid enough CB.

TrentEndRed

{Ed001's Note - it was Rhys Williams that came in and played alongside Nat not Kabak. Kabak was brutal and a disaster, until he got injured and that was when Liverpool went on a run, thanks to getting him out the side. Donkey, complete and utter donkey.}
