Hey Mr Bowie!
Up in your neck of the Woods for a few days in Alnwick. where/ what do you recommend visiting?
1.) 28 Jun 2026 20:13:46
Me, McGovern, bud. Alnwick has its tourist industry. Obviously Potter and the castle. For me, Bamburgh Castle has much better history and is just amazing. While you're in the area, visit Lindisfarne or Holy Island. (Funnily enough, just chatting to Winter last night about it.) Meet me on North Shields Fish Quay if ya want.
Busy Tuesday, bud. Had mvred and 2tone there, showing them lovely bars. One of which Sam Fender was found playing, and working b4 famous. North East, Toon, loads of shopping across the tunnel, Metro Arena again, loads of shopping, matey. Just let me know.
2.) 28 Jun 2026 20:24:36
Sorry, Metro Centre, McGovern. I will give you loads more if you appear for meet.
3.) 28 Jun 2026 20:32:08
Sorry eds ( one more thing for holy island you must check the tides bud)
4.) 28 Jun 2026 21:29:50
? I think you can get an app for the tides on Holy now. ?
5.) 28 Jun 2026 21:42:15
Or a cannoe.
6.) 28 Jun 2026 22:21:48
Good evening, McGovern, mate. Hope you and yours are all ok?
I endorse Bowie's suggestions entirely, but when you go to Bamborough, have a look on the landward side. Surely the most picturesque cricket pitch in the world, with the castle towering above it. If it's raining, have a look in the Grace Darling RNLI museum. She was a young slip of a girl who, with her father, rowed out into a storm in 1838 to rescue a dozen people from a shipwreck. They make them tough in Geordie land.
Durham Cathedral is magnificent. Have a trip to Flodden Field where an English Army (under Admiral Howard) massacred a massive Scottish army and captured the Scottish king.
Their anthem "Flower of Scotland" stems from this disaster.
If you go to Alnwick, go on the Poison Gardens guided tour.
The Castle was and is the home of the famous Percy family, semi independent Northern warlords who kept the Scots out of England and protected the northern borders for centuries.
Also, the Elizabethan fortifications at Berwick are up the road.
Apologies, Bowie, I'm not stealing your thunder, but as you know, I spent a lot of time up there ( my sister unfortunately married a Mackem and lived near Sunderland and then Newton Aycliffe ) and I did the Great North Run 5 times for Marie Curie. It's a great bit of the country.
7.) 28 Jun 2026 22:28:51
No Stokey, brilliant ideas, especially Grace, bless her. And actually Durham Cathedral. ?? But I did say I'd give him more ideas.
8.) 28 Jun 2026 22:34:18
Btw, it's Bamburgh Castle, Stokey. ?
9.) 28 Jun 2026 22:36:54
Ignore em both, McGovern.
Whitley Bay. ???
10.) 28 Jun 2026 23:32:14
? Think he is dtp, talk about making an effort.
11.) 29 Jun 2026 09:13:27
Whitley Bay used to be a great night out, but not been for decades.
12.) 29 Jun 2026 09:42:38
Spot on, Skegs.
13.) 29 Jun 2026 10:16:23
Thanks Bowie, mate.
The boat that Grace and her Father rowed (a long way) through the stormy seas to rescue the people from the shipwreck was still there in the Museum when I visited. It's a big chuffing boat, isn't it? She must have had muscles like Arnie and courage beyond belief.
I paid my respects to Bede at Durham Cathedral a few times. He is the Father of the English Language, 700 years before Chaucer.
I think I've mentioned before that spoken Old English sounds just like Jimmy Nail's cadence and accent.
You've got a proud heritage up there.
McGovern, you have to book a guided tour around the Poison Garden at Alnwick, mate. It's full of things that will kill you, and the guide is licensed.
The tour my wife and I did was brilliant and full of gory true stories. The guide was an Ulsterman called "Paddy", who had a voice like Vincent Price, perfect for the occasion.
14.) 29 Jun 2026 11:05:03
Thank you, Stokey. Yeah, very proud of our heritage, bud. ?
04 May 2026 17:16:17
Happy Birthday, Guys.
Loving you all. Been DTP and RHR today!
You Reds!
1.) 04 May 2026 17:22:21
Nice early present!!!
Eh Bowie, mate???
Thanks, McGovern!!!
Uuuu Redddss!!!!
2.) 04 May 2026 18:20:00
Great to see ya, McGovern, bud. You heard from Carlo? I'm actually getting a bit worried.
28 Nov 2025 10:01:08
Just a word forthe Malmö fans.
Best away fans I've ever seen!
1.) 28 Nov 2025 15:27:51
How great it was for us to get to that European final, you could just imagine what it was for Malmö, I bet them young supporters have listened to tales of that match from their elders, for the Malmö supporters who came for the occasion, I hope they had a great time in Nottingham, the chances of our two teams being in a European final again, is as likely as, Dawn French winning the London marathon, but you never know.
2.) 28 Nov 2025 20:22:35
First time I've seen the police horses at a match for ages mcgovern
Outside train station afterwards was a bit interesting.
3.) 29 Nov 2025 12:14:31
I remember years ago when Liverpool came to town Notts horses were all poorly and they had to use Merseyside Mounted to escort them from Nottm Station along London Road. I must admit they didn’t mess about……. lots of random long baton action and trampling amongst the crowd.
As they say, Police horses, the only animal in existence with a c”nt on its back……. ???.
4.) 29 Nov 2025 14:18:50
Again Liverpool, a load of Liverpool supporters ran towards the Trent End from what is now the Brian Clough stand, 4 coppers, two with Alstation dogs approach them, on mass they turned tail and ran in the opposite direction, all you could see was tank tops, 24 inch flares and 4 inch wedge shoes trying to negotiate the steps, it was like a lion appeared on the Serengeti and the Giraffe's had scarpered??.
Policing at the moment in Nottingham is high visibility, even armed officers, long may it last, I was sat in Spoons, and saw more police pass the window than was on the Parade ground at Hendon, I bet shoplifting is at an all time low?.
5.) 29 Nov 2025 20:11:01
A man goes into the police station to report his missing Camel,
When asked to give a description,
He says it’s big and fury with two humps, and I think it’s female,
How do you know it’s female asks the duty officer,
Well when I ride to work people shout “ Look at the
c—- on that camel!
6.) 29 Nov 2025 20:31:06
Has anyone handed your camel in yet carlo? ????.
24 Nov 2025 00:23:24
I've never heard Radio Nottingham commentators have to apologize numerous times for foul and abusive language overheard on the commentary. however I'm sure it wasn't their fault!
1.) 24 Nov 2025 07:39:55
Nottingham Forest are the first team to stop Liverpool from scoring in the Premier League at Anfield since Nottingham Forest in 2024.
2.) 24 Nov 2025 09:28:55
Talking of apologies, the BBC is up before an MP'S committe today under pressure over Trump, et al. I wonder who they might send to give them a fighting chance? Maybe Wayne Rooney? They can field questions like: Why have you given this man a highly paid job? Was he the best candidate?
Of course - bring La Voix! That should seal it for the Beeb!
3.) 24 Nov 2025 11:23:00
Bigger question why does Troy Deeney get paid by the BBC, terrible record on field discipline and ex-con?, box ticking more important than etics!.
4.) 24 Nov 2025 13:38:28
I felt like screaming at the radio this morning!
Talksport "What's gone wrong at Liverpool! "
Very little mentioned of how well we snuffed them out!
They couldn't lay a glove on us!
22 Nov 2025 17:16:37
Anyone heard from Larry?
1.) 22 Nov 2025 17:31:00
I'm here boys. Just on my way backfim Liverpool now ?.
2.) 22 Nov 2025 20:43:49
Must be a terrible journey home because we won ??????.
