Heard from a liable source close to Ben Osborne that Cohen will be announcing his retirement soon.

He’s taking some of the first team coaching sessions at the minute.

Good move to keep him in and around the club. Very positive influence.

1.) 28 Dec 2017 20:18:16
2 years too late, good luck to him with coaching

2.) 28 Dec 2017 21:55:08
Hope he gets a testimonial, I know he’s had massive injury problems, and should have played more. To comeback from 3 cruciate ligaments is impossible. I played for a Mansfield team,in its formative years with Rod Arnold in goal, mine popped on a muddy pitch, studs stuck in the mud, twisted to clear a corner, the most inoculatious of challenges. Still suffering today.
Cohen is Forest though and through. I’d wager he’d put in a better performance with his dodgy knees than this current crop of show ponies.
Two years too late ,shame on you.

3.) 28 Dec 2017 21:57:12
Liable source or reliable?
I spoke to Cohen at the Norwich game and he told me he was close to a return. I'd heard he was back in training.
Could have had another setback though I suppose.

4.) 28 Dec 2017 22:02:25
Good luck with coaching! Seasoned professional footballer against banker now manager. Whose coaching who?

5.) 28 Dec 2017 22:41:33
Many an international footballer has failed to be a good manager.
Been some great managers who have been poor footballers or not at all,be good managers.

6.) 28 Dec 2017 23:20:21
*Reliable. No thanks to my dodgy keyboard 😂

I’ve loved watching Cohen over the years but I feel now is the right time to step back - irrespective of the information. I was given.

Definitely agree he deserves a testimonial.

7.) 28 Dec 2017 23:28:40
Red one

How is it shame on me, he has put himself through hell to try and play professional football again to no avail, that has not only messed up his body more but must have also been rough on him mentally.

Would you wish that a player who has served our club so well.?

8.) 29 Dec 2017 09:37:42
I'm all for a testimonial,as long as the money goes to charity.
Not like they don't earn enough?
Quite a few players have done this and it's a great way of raising money.

9.) 29 Dec 2017 12:15:40
He’d probably donate to Rainbows Children’s Hospice in Loughborough. My wife works there and knows Chris Cohen personally, she says that he’s such a lovely bloke. He visits with his wife and child and gets some of the other Forest players to get involved as well. I know he had a lot to do with Rainbows being the official charity partner last season. Good luck to him i say on whatever path his next journey takes him.

10.) 29 Dec 2017 15:28:03
Cohen is not about to retire

30 Jul 2017 19:12:44
Kevin McDonald is reported to be the CM we're chasing now.

Can't imagine he'd be ours for any less than £5m.

LDN Red

1.) 30 Jul 2017 19:55:17
Waste of money at anywhere near that price.
Went from wolves a year ago for 1.25million played 33 games and suddenly he's good?
Not even made Scotland team.

2.) 30 Jul 2017 21:07:41
Did you actually watch him play? He would be worth every penny of anything around £4 million. The one player we are in desperate need off. Strong tackles, good distribution and plays games without being injured. He is a very good player at championship level.

3.) 30 Jul 2017 21:32:22
I only mention that figure as Fulham recently came out saying they valued him at £7m.

4.) 31 Jul 2017 10:49:24
Not worth it. A lot better available for a lot less!

5.) 31 Jul 2017 11:01:02
Binns who is a lot better for less?

6.) 31 Jul 2017 11:27:30
How about Joe Ledley on a free transfer?

7.) 31 Jul 2017 11:58:16
Agreed Gazza, can't believe he's still available!

26 Jul 2017 00:14:50
While I can imagine this information will fall on deaf ears, I thought it was interesting to share all the same.

My close friend's younger brother is and has been Ben Osborne's best friend since a child (this is sounds unbelievable to some of you already . )

What was interesting was that whilst having a drink with my pal this evening, he was quick to tell me Forest information relayed by his brother.

Derby have on several occasions tabled bids of between £4m-£6m for him - all of which have been dismissed immediately. He went on to say that Derby have apparently called once every three days to enquire about him.

What's worth mentioning as I finish here is that Obsorne (despite being a Derby fan at heart) sees his future at Forest and wants to stay with the club.

LDN Red

1.) 26 Jul 2017 00:59:56
Do you not have anything better to do?

2.) 26 Jul 2017 01:41:20
4-6 mill they can have him.

3.) 26 Jul 2017 06:18:27
You could of at least asked how to spell bens name properly. you've had a pop at mystic red then we have 'airport' situation from you.

4.) 26 Jul 2017 07:36:06
What 'airport situation' are we talking about here UTF?

At 00:14 this morning, I'd imagine sleeping would be higher on my agenda than brainstorming an elaborate lie and, whilst half asleep, deliberately choosing the wrong spelling of 'Osborn'.

A suspiciously tenuous source of information, I'm sure you'll all agree - interesting never the less.

5.) 26 Jul 2017 07:39:04
Hahaha just seen how from my phone, I wrote Osborn last night!

UTF - when are you doing those spelling lessons, mate?

6.) 26 Jul 2017 12:40:39
Just to add to the rumour mill with my tenuous connections.

One of the caterers that frequent my place of work also does the catering at Pride Park and has confirmed the above rumour to be true. Derby have indeed made bids for Ben Osborn. Apparently.

7.) 26 Jul 2017 13:26:19
I've got the feeling Osborn will be sold when we buy in a replacement. I know Gardner and Irvine have been mentioned in media and also on here.

8.) 26 Jul 2017 14:26:18
It was Osborn's cross that made the first goal against Girona last night.

9.) 26 Jul 2017 15:21:50
SteveSuttonWonkeyEye, leading a very brave cavalry charge in my support here!

Thank goodness for Pride Park caterers.

10.) 26 Jul 2017 15:27:02
if we got irvine i wouldn't mind osborn going, i do like osborn but if we got between 4-6 mil for him we could get irvine and probably another quality player for 2-3 mil with the way we seem to be spotting bargains this summer. with warburton and mcparland in control of who we sign selling players doesn't seem like the disaster it used to be for us.

11.) 26 Jul 2017 15:59:03
If you do that nffc then you get rid of Osborn and end up paying two players wages in stead of just having Osborn who was our most creative player last season and the leagues second most. why pay two wages when one man can do the job?

Shows how well run derby is when the caterers are sat by the blokes desk who makes bids for players! did the caterer try to negotiate as well?
Then again if this is true that shows loyalty that so many cry about and then there wanting him gone? fickle fans.

12.) 26 Jul 2017 16:15:49
If you've ever been involved with, or employed by a football club, UTF, then you'd know that word does get around. People gossip and information circulates. Hence why many things come to light before they are officially announced. I'm not saying the Osborn offers are 100% fact, just that someone I know close to the club has also corroborated the story.

If you don't like rumours and gossip, mate, then WTF are you doing on this site? I'd try Mumsnet if you're just looking for idle chit-chat.

13.) 26 Jul 2017 16:42:39
i agree UTF it is 2 wages instead of one, but we also have britts transfer fee and wages, perquis wages and hopefully stojkovic wages and lica wages (which are meant to be high) . so with the money coming in this summer from fees and wages compared to that goong out we would still probably make a big profit.

14.) 26 Jul 2017 16:53:55
Osborn needs a season with Warbo in a settled position so everyone can judge how good is really is? I do not feel we have seen the best of him as he is always the player who fills in the midfield gaps in our squad. Now we will have some depth in midfield he can have a settled role.

As for a fee is Will Hughes any better? Ossie must be worth at least as much?

15.) 26 Jul 2017 17:07:57
redinexile i agree osborn is worth more than hughes but i think hughes was massively overpriced.

16 Jul 2017 14:18:14
Hearing a few on Twitter suggest we're after Emerson Hyndman on loan from Bournemouth.

Anyone else heard this?

LDN Red

1.) 16 Jul 2017 15:06:55
nope but manager had him at rangers
so someone is reading to much in to that or just rumour
like the Michael hector one and nothing comes from it.

16 Jun 2017 16:07:24
We're being linked with Luton Town CM Pelly Ruddock.

Unsure if there's anything concrete in it but would fit the profile of player we need and the type of transfer MW would go for.

Thoughts?

LDN Red

1.) 16 Jun 2017 17:09:31
He is said to be a defensive midfielder according to one report, but can play anywhere in midfield according to another report, if that is true then that is exactly the MW type player. I like the policy of bringing in young players, but we some experienced players to guide them aswell. I know we have Vaughan and Cohen, but we need decent quality experienced defensive options to guide them too.

2.) 16 Jun 2017 21:56:43
As there is nothing concrete, perhaps Blue Circle will do a shirt sponsorship? Apologies for nicking the joke on another thread!

Tough result today and far below the standard we should be performing at. I sincerely hope that we as a group can rally together through hard times and not look to move another manager out the door.

This site, for the many years I’ve been on it, was a place for positivity with opinions. Lately, and particularly under Mark Warburton, the landscape changed drastically. Some posters called for the manager’s head hoping doing the exact thing Forest have learned does not work, will work this time around.

We must be patient - we have to accept that the club prematurely pulled the trigger on yet another manager. Results have been atrocious since AK came in. Despite that, AK is a good manager and we as fans must either accept that we will have to wait to see our club back where it needs to be.

LDN Red

1.) 10 Feb 2018 17:44:39
Disagree london warbs was poor and over stayed his welcome. I am amazed that AK like warburton has failed to address or inspire the back four. Is he blind or just stupid. Mancienne in my opinion has never been any good and psrticularly at this time we need an inspirational leader on and off the pitch. With little creativity he puts velios in and then does a like for like change just like warbs. DOWELL CASH and maybe Worrall are not yet ready for the rigours of this league. But my main concern is the poor judgement and lack of inspiration from our new manager.

2.) 11 Feb 2018 00:31:32
Question for you all.... Do you there's more to it than on field trouble?
Is stavros having an influence on team selection like fawaz?
Just speculating?

06 Nov 2017 08:39:00
Although not intended in an inflammatory fashion - I’m interested to know if any/many of the posters who want Warburton out still feel the same?

LDN Red

1.) 06 Nov 2017 12:41:14
Seems to have gone quite on that front the man needs time and hopefully now he will get it fans moaning about the defence saying there cap well he did a good job with them Saturday didn't he Rome wasn't built in a day and forest will need 2 seasons to get back on track after the mess of the last 5 years

2.) 06 Nov 2017 13:17:40
A couple of defeats and the moaners will be back. I think people are starting to see a team coming together. The more realistic of us have said it won't happen over night and there will be ups and downs. The moaners are people who want it now. Patience is needed for our club to stabilize.

3.) 06 Nov 2017 13:47:16
You'll be lucky Redfin, try one defeat.

4.) 06 Nov 2017 13:54:32
I'm happy to give my opinion on this. I'm not a massive MW fan, but am happy to be won over by performances and results on the pitch. Personally, I think he is a little overrated, and lives off the reputation of the Brentford years. His limitations were never exposed during that time, but they were at Rangers, and to some degree we have also seen evidence of that. I haven't called for him to go, and do think he should be given a decent amount of time to try and build something. I wasn't expecting a promotion push this season, more of a game on game improvement. If we are being honest, as good as Saturday's performance was, we are equally as likely to be awful in the next game. The huge level in inconsistency is certainly a MW frustration.

5.) 06 Nov 2017 14:13:39
Murdoch, you are entitled to your opinions and I for on enjoy reading the breadth of opinion on offer - keep it coming mate as this site surley wouldn’t tick if Evertyone agreed all of the time.

6.) 06 Nov 2017 17:09:11
Don't like chaps being called moaners when they are expressing an opinion, all be it a negative one. Mark warburton has been anything but consistent this season. His attitude leaves him wide open for critiscm. I think he is getting better and i rightly praised him after saturday which seemed lost on most. I have never called ror him to be sacked and have wanted him to wake up a bit. Like i said saturday would be just what the club need right now a manager who can take us through a period of stability with a road of improvement!!!!

7.) 06 Nov 2017 20:44:47
Thanks 2 star, you are quite right, its the wide range of different opinions offered here that make for the interesting discussions. Another reason why this site is addictive! COYR!!

8.) 06 Nov 2017 22:59:49
Im with you Murdoch, very well said.

9.) 06 Nov 2017 23:10:44
I just think it's a massive thumbs up for the owners, they havn't listened to any of the negative towards warbo.
Bristol city owners did the same with Johnson last season and are now enjoying the benefits of it.
Warbos only been in the job a few months,it takes time to find the right balance,He's tried different players in different permutations and slowly I think he's getting there.
You have to remember the mess he inherited,You can't sort that in one season, never mind a few months.
Out of his signings he's made one bad one and we all know who that is,but McKay is something else and he's made Osborn the player we wanted and he's adding a finish to his game.

He's working to a very tight budget as well, just like at rangers,So all in all I think he's done well under difficult circumstances.
We are playing the game on the floor as the great man would of endorsed.
I'm all for constructive criticism, but the abuse he's received is going to far.
All I feel is back the owners, who back the manager, who backs the players and we'll be ok with warbo in charge.

10.) 07 Nov 2017 06:42:10
ffs win 1 game mw is the best. see how the next few games turn out. won 8 lost 8 not very good. i still want him to go. don't like the man and he ain't a good manager

11.) 07 Nov 2017 08:07:26
Sheff Utd won 11 lost 5
Ipswich won 8 lost 7
Leeds won 7 lost 7
Sheffweds won 5 lost 6
Preston won 5 lost 5
And so on lots of bad managers if we go by your theory,
Tough league where anyone is capable of beating anyone.
We need stability and we've just won 3 out of 4,we're near the playoffs

12.) 08 Nov 2017 09:47:38
I am not a fan of the Warbutton and i agree, 1 decent win in a battle doesn't constitute to winning a war. He still needs to address certain matters ie lichajs contract and the defence etc.

It's ok to say give him time he's only had a few months yet if he's such a great manager he would of done his homework and made an assessment of his squad and it's weaknesses.

I DON'T want him sacked i'm just looking at things from a realistic point of view.
I applaud the team for a fantastic result on Saturday.
It's all too easy to jump and the bandwagon and say yeah his great. at best he his is average and when the team are losing his lack of tactical ability is evident.

We are not moaners we do need stability and we don't expect to be promoted this season but when other teams who do their homework exploit forests weaknesses it shows and if those fans without tunnel vision can see this surely a professional football manager should certainly see it?

Shoot me down in flames and call me a pessimist i don't mind!
It's after all a banter site 😁😁.

13.) 08 Nov 2017 13:34:38
Only thing is,It's not one win,It's three out of the last four.
Two good performances against Hull and QPR and only two points off the playoffs, excellent situation to be in at this point in the season.

22 Aug 2017 09:43:01
Not a rumour as such but I'm suspicious hat Thomas Lam may be moved on if Bridcutt signs.

Very talented player with a great ball playing qualities but no where near big enough for this league.

His two main positions, CB and DM both now have other options well ahead of him and it's hard to imagine him getting minutes under MW.

MW mentioned in his latest interview that some players may leave and I wouldn't be surprised if Lam and perhaps Vellios were moved on.

What's everyone else's thoughts?

LDN Red

1.) 22 Aug 2017 11:01:02
I had the same thought regarding Lam. Liça is another to be leaving. I think Vellios will stay. Others leaving most likely on loan deals (Walker, Evtimov, Lam perhaps?. ).

2.) 22 Aug 2017 12:20:37
I fear Osbourne might get snapped up and if Brereton comes on and has an impact like he did against Boro he will be much sought after by a prem team. Lam, Velluos, Walker, all could go.

01 Sep 2016 19:19:13
I think it might be wise to preach an air of caution regarding Britt. It's still not been officially announced yet by the club.

NEP just said its done/ going to happen. Given the events of late, I think we should be wary of thibking this is done.

LDN Red

1.) 01 Sep 2016 19:38:49
If britt signs a new contract the only person it really benefits is fawaz
A new contract these days doesn't mean he's going to stay
If britt carries on doing well fawaz will cash in the next window
We need new owners with the clubs best interest at heart.

2.) 01 Sep 2016 21:53:22
Spot on 1973. If Britt fires to xmas he will be gone in Jan. The longer contract just makes him more valuable.

{Ed003's Note - or includes a release clause - just throwing it into the mix.}

3.) 01 Sep 2016 22:53:46
Good point Ed.

4.) 01 Sep 2016 23:38:31
73-so are you going to moan if britt signs a new contract? This site never fails to amaze me?

01 Sep 2016 08:35:08
Might sound like a silly question so forgive me.

Are clubs able to agree contract extensions outside of a transfer window? For those wondering, I'm referring to Britt and Henri.

LDN Red

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

Impossible to say for certain, but I’m confident AK wouldn’t have taken the job and speak so highly of “the right project” if there was no money to spend.

There was a report recently which said he was looking to buy players from Spain. I’d wager the time it’s taking is more down to the complexity of the deals as opposed to a lack of cash.

Just my thoughts though.

It might be redundant saying it in chugsy’s defence now, but he’s right about spreading the cost of the transfer over several years.

There was an article recently which explained Wolves have done something slightly similar with some of their players.

Enough of this nonesence, #KarankaOut. There, I said it.

Also - pitching a new show to the BBC next week. “Fawaz’s Bank Balance” stars in an Apprentice style spinoff called “You’re Forest Fired”. Two managers sacked every episode. The sister show called “A club on it’s knees” presented by Dougie Freedman, who as usual, looks soaking wet.

Yes but Red James, we HAD to get rid of Warburton because we weren’t challenging for promotion. Can’t you see?

On a slightly more serious note - what could realistically have been expected of AK yesterday? He had less than a week to implement a new strategy with a ‘pick n mix’ squad.

It's amazing that some people can't see the bigger picture under Dougie.

The man was limited to free transfers and loans. The squad that season was full of injuries not least of all to our main striker at the time, Britt.

That season will go down for many as one to forget. Try to though remember how easy it would have been for us to go down given everything on and off the pitch. Dougie was never trying to get us promoted, the plan was to stay in the division where the cards were stacked againsts him.

The man kept our Championship status in a season where it would've been all too easy for us to be relegated given the circumstances.
