I know it's only the first game but defencivly I couldn't see anything different from last season we look vulnerable at the back millwall could of easily scored 3 or 4 It doesn't help when the midfield keep giving the ball away we will come up against better teams that will punish us tighten up at the back and reckon we could have a decent season.

Bridgfordlower1991

1.) 05 Aug 2017 23:52:15
Bridgford,

While I agree to a point with what you say, and we DID look vulnerable at the back, the big difference on last year is we DIDN'T concede 3 or 4.!

I think people need to focus on the positives and let the management team work on the negatives.

Last season, we won by a goal against promotion new-boys but shipped 3 goals. That, in itself is progress, no?

The team will improve. Lichaj is likely to come back in, a keeper seems to be on the shopping list, let's just enjoy the win for what it was; a packed house and a big, pressurised kick-off. The lads got the job done.

We will only get better. At least we're not Boro fans.

2.) 06 Aug 2017 09:28:29
It can be very hard on opening day. At home infront of a packed crowd against a team with nothing to lose. It didn't happen for us but we still come away with 3 pts. The defence will improve as they get used to Warbos style of play. There will be games when we concede but remember this is a building season. Its the first game. Chill.

3.) 06 Aug 2017 10:18:41
My concern is that MW didn't think to switch to a back 3 at half time. Darikwa and Traore aren't really out and out full backs and their forward play was only hampered by their defensive duties. Playing wing backs will also allow the likes of Brereton more freedom. All said though a positive start. We will score goals this season. And we will be entertained.

4.) 06 Aug 2017 13:30:07
Some of those comments are extremely naive. We only kept a clean sheet because Millwall's finishing was poor. Warburton admitted they should have got something from the game. Having said that I like the positive approach that it looks like we'll be taking into games but he needs to learn quickly that you need more balance in midfield if you want to win games.

I think going to 3 at the back with 2 holding midfielders would allow our attacking players more freedom whilst also giving some protection to the defence.

5.) 06 Aug 2017 20:36:29
Pass the ball you are totally correct we got lucky.
Think 3 at the back would work better.
The system warbo uses is supposed to be 433 but the reality is 451 and massive gaps between the lone striker midfield and wide men.
He doesn't pay attention to defending and you can see that in his signings.
We all know we need to sort the defence and get a defensive midfielder in and all he's done is bought more attacking players and lightweight ones at that, bar Murphy.

6.) 07 Aug 2017 13:56:16
Spot on once again FF79, l was really disappointed in our defence, we could score 3 or 4 goals but could ship just as many. It was hard to watch such a poor defence especially as big Davie W. is a legend for us at CH and was our club captain., l couldn't believe the amount of goals we lost from cross balls set plays corners etching, our keeper got a nose bleed if he came out near the 6 yard line. Defence is not a priority to the Breadman, or it wasn't with us, not sure what DWs role was.

26 Jul 2017 18:20:33
Darikwa signing been confirmed 4 year contract.

Bridgfordlower1991

1.) 27 Jul 2017 08:18:06
Hopefully the next one will be Irvine (I did say we should have gone for him in Jan) Please not Gardner.

2.) 27 Jul 2017 10:10:51
agreed, apparently he has a release clause of no more than 2mil so i don't get what were hanging around for really as he's worth much more than that.

26 Jul 2017 17:33:57
I would be amazed if we don't sign a cb we have the same defence as last year who conceded the second most goals in the division only rotherham conceded more so surely a cb or 2 is a must.

Bridgfordlower1991

1.) 26 Jul 2017 17:50:42
Conceding that many goals was down to confidence, constant chop and change and no consistency, not just personel. Agree that we should bring a CB but wouldny be overly worried if we didn't.

2.) 26 Jul 2017 17:54:22
Not necessarily, just because the team underperformed last season in defence doesn't mean they will this time out.

Let's just put a little faith in MW and his backroom staff shall we, and see how things go 🙄.

3.) 26 Jul 2017 21:37:46
1991 prepare to be amazed, he's happy with em even if we're not.

4.) 26 Jul 2017 18:44:11
We shipped some silly goals mate. definately need someone we can Trust!

13 Jul 2017 00:54:21
The sun are saying that Middlesbrough have landed assombalonga for 14 mill with 60 grand a week wages hope it's not true.

Bridgfordlower1991

1.) 13 Jul 2017 01:45:25
With it quoting how much he's been sold for and how much a week he's going to be on, it will probably be true. Shame because there's a good vibe about the club at the moment.

2.) 13 Jul 2017 02:08:37
that's the Irish sun
not sure about this. but 14mill u can understand if he went
forest can not offer that sort of wages
Brereton could be the one this year give him a run of games.

3.) 13 Jul 2017 07:14:44
Why would he have been shown training with the team just yesterday if he was leaving?

4.) 13 Jul 2017 07:25:50
Its on the bbc site too. I know its just the gossip bit but states the deal is done.

5.) 13 Jul 2017 07:40:11
It's on the BBC website but it's by the sun again.
We'll see.

6.) 13 Jul 2017 08:04:59
Pure speculation to me. Have read the story on the papers website and it state's "The plan is to ink the deal when he get's back from Forests Florida trip". If it was an absolute done deal they'd send him home to finalise in my opinion.

7.) 13 Jul 2017 08:25:17
Nothing on sky sports about it either.
All made up, and guess work.

8.) 13 Jul 2017 08:44:37
I pray it's all made up but if it ain't then let's pray brereton can step up or even cummings and vellios they are all good strikers.

9.) 13 Jul 2017 09:08:54
14 mil is a joke and joining another Champ team makes no sense, I could understand if it was to the Prem, this is of course if it is true:)

Please don't try and replace with some second rate over the hill striker.

10.) 13 Jul 2017 09:20:14
warburton and mcparland signed both andre gray and scott hogan from lower divisions for little money and both of them scored lots in the championship and were sold on for lots more, so i wouldn't be suprised or worried to see us spend a small amount on a striker to replace britt should he go. hopefully he stays though!

11.) 13 Jul 2017 10:40:24
Face it, he's going.

I'd imagine a deal has been agreed in principle and the only thing holding up its completion is Assombalonga's party waiting for a Premier League side to come in and gazump Middlesbrough.

Although, I don't expect any of you ardent fans to believe that. It sounds too much like common sense for a football fan.

12.) 13 Jul 2017 10:47:09
I think i maybe the only one not worried if Britt does go. I think people will be surprised by Brereton and Cummings this season. I also think if Vellios gets game time he could be dangerous combined with McKay and Clough on the wings, a bright future with or without Britt.

13.) 13 Jul 2017 12:09:55
I agree we have alternatives but Brereton and Cummings are relative unknowns whereas you know Britt is going to score goals, and lots of them. That said, I am optimistic that goals are going to come from a number of players next season including clough, McKay, Brereton, Osbourne and Cummings. And the forgotten man Carayol.

14.) 13 Jul 2017 12:17:07
Now reported that Burnley are going to come back in with an improved offer. Let's ride this out and see how much we can get for him. I did read that the Boro offer is upto 14 mil if they get promoted after an initial fee.

15.) 13 Jul 2017 12:20:00
But he has also been injury prone, and how do you know he'll score lots? It all depends on MW style of play for the season, remember the end of the season was a smash and grab he has now had nearly a full pre-season.

16.) 13 Jul 2017 13:50:25
I think he will be gone, disappointed but i have two hopes that would turn that feeling around- firstly, that we manage to eek out a few million more to say 17m, secondly that we release the purse strings a litle to buy a quality replacement and a quality athletic central mid player. If this happens it might turn out to be a decent move.

17.) 13 Jul 2017 14:55:04
I still think if Burnley and Watford are in for him we could reach 20mill. I worry about who is going to get the goals when he is gone. Ben is good but not ready for a whole season up front.

18.) 13 Jul 2017 15:28:22
Don't forget the slice we will owe the Posh as well? Rumours abound a big sell on clause 30%-40% if you wish to believe those figures?

19.) 13 Jul 2017 19:55:34
Assambolonga is leaving, defo, 100%. Nffc are currently in contact with Britt, his agent and Middlesborough to get the best deal. We can't compete with £60,000 a week wages, £15 million is a fair price, but goal scorers are priceless, who will replace him?

20.) 14 Jul 2017 08:49:23
If we get 15m for Britt any striker we go in for will be overpriced by the selling club. Was good business to get Cummings in early before britt left.

07 Jul 2017 00:23:49
It's looking like Britt could end up staying boro are actually looking at a cheaper option a striker from Toulouse called brathwaite which is going to cost around 10 mill and then u have got Burnley who are signing Jon Walters from stoke let's hope our price tag have put em of and he stays.

Bridgfordlower1991

1.) 07 Jul 2017 07:11:15
You could be right, I hope so. Last I heard Middlesborough were preparing an offer of £15 million. A price like that would really make the club think.

2.) 07 Jul 2017 13:51:58
Yeah I've thought and £15m is an insult!

3.) 07 Jul 2017 15:51:05
Just noticed the sheep seem to be selling there better players tom ince will hughes and now cyrus christi wonder what's going on there?

4.) 07 Jul 2017 16:45:46
Big spending, but no promotion caught up to them.

5.) 07 Jul 2017 21:29:48
Relegation i hope.
They've still got bent to miss the target as well.
Happy days. 🍻🍻🍻.

6.) 07 Jul 2017 21:51:04
Do not get Bent out of shape FF79.

I'm still with warburton and I think majority of fans are to I believe he will turn it around however if we continue to concede goals like we are through sloppy defending we will slide down the table rapidly i just wonder how long warburton has to turn it around I reckon if we're still seeing the same results come end of November beginning of December he could be a gonner any thoughts.

Bridgfordlower1991

1.) 19 Oct 2017 04:54:16
i feel the next 4 games are is limit, he as had enough time in my opinion, the game that forest have won have been lucky wins.these players can play better and would do under a new manager.so for me 4 games and if the results from them are bleak. only one thing needs to happen. my thoughts and my opinion.

2.) 19 Oct 2017 12:02:09
Next 4 games? He is on a next game scenario. Truth is plain to see on that pitch. Confusion reigns. On sunday his subs were like for like and made no difference well actually we got worse. A battling draw at worst against Burton or i feel the trigger will be pulled. Can you imagine what the players have to listen to from warbs? His after match diatribe is consistsntly annoying and full of outdated cliche.

3.) 19 Oct 2017 16:37:40
rutland - just being curious but did you enjoy Prince Billys interviews?

4.) 19 Oct 2017 20:55:28
Early days were ok but paranoia took over 2tone

18 Oct 2017 11:21:56
Not posted for a while although after seeing some posts on here thought I'd have my say right folks I really think it's bizzare how some people want mw sacked I no the table doesn't lie and we have lost 6 games however if u look at Fulham at home Barnsley away villa away we played very well in those games created a lot of chances but come away with nothing poor defending let us down like mw says it's fine margins I don't think it's panic time yet we're mid table at the moment another point I want to make to the fans that want warburton sacked the end of the day we were never going to be able to compete with the top teams in the championship wolves boro villa financially these teams r spending a lot of money we're not in a possition to do that so on that basis I don't think it's. a shock what possistion in the table were in I certainly wasn't expecting us to be a top 6 team .

Bridgfordlower1991

1.) 18 Oct 2017 11:44:51
Spot on 1991.good post.

2.) 18 Oct 2017 13:11:37
I haven't seen any people openly saying he should be sacked. What you are seeing is a lot of frustration with the way MW is doing things. The biggest criticism is the fact he failed to address any of the defensive issues from last season, which are proving to be costly again. Nobody was expecting us to be promoted this season, but we did hope to see some improvement and progression, which hasn't really happened.

3.) 18 Oct 2017 14:18:34
Murdoch in agreement with you on all accounts I'm glad some fans are seeing the bigger picture.

4.) 18 Oct 2017 15:32:51
But we have improved on last season havnt we?
You forgot to mention how we got slaughtered by millwall and won that game.
Fans saying it’s fine margins,it wasn’t fine margins last season the poor defending was down to the manager this time it’s the players!
It was there for all to see last season that our defence wasn’t good enough yet he carried in getting in attacking players, that’s poor management.

5.) 18 Oct 2017 17:06:29
If you go with argument Sutton Red, then you also have to say last season, despite being so poor, we still managed to get results against the top 5 teams. You use the Millwall game as an example, but let's be honest, we only won that because their strikers were so awful. It wasn't a ground out gritty win by any means. Just luck! I wouldn't class that as improvement!

6.) 18 Oct 2017 18:48:56
The poor defending was down to the manager last season....so what's different now.....is it the pitch, poor lighting or the fact we have a poor inept clueless manager and a leaky defence.

7.) 18 Oct 2017 19:23:48
Murdoch I was being sarcastic about the improvement.having better possession and losing 6 if he last 7 is not improvement.
I bought the millwall game up because he was saying we should of got points against Fulham and Barnsley but failed to mention the 3 points we stole in that game.
Like I say last season it was the manager this time round it’s the players.warbo should of improved the defence in pre season we all seen this and if he didn’t what does hat tell you about him?

29 Aug 2017 08:33:33
I'm surprised warburton has waited so near to transfer deadline day to be looking to bring a cb in it was clear for everyone to see even at the end of last season mills is just not good enough worrall makes mistakes but still young Hobbs even when fit never gets a game I do like warburton and think he is the man to take us forward I just think he's made a mistake waiting this long .

Bridgfordlower1991

1.) 29 Aug 2017 12:36:23
Hobbs is being engineered out mate - he is a big earner and warbs is looking for parity in wages.

24 Aug 2017 05:23:04
Chelsea away in the cup what a good draw that's wat we wanted a top team however I stayed up for the draw it was taking them 5 mins per fixture the draw took over an hour to be completed what an absolute joke and nearly every top team in the premier laeuge got a home draw wat a fix.

Bridgfordlower1991

1.) 24 Aug 2017 13:01:07
They were trying to find the warm balls(no pun intended), old draw rigging trick:)

17 Aug 2017 00:37:27
Right I don't like to slag players off but I've got to this time I don't really no wat osbourne really does for the team he runs around like a headless chicken then when he gets the ball and we're on the attack he decides to go backwards passing is very sloppy most of the time but for some reason warburton seems to love him I've been saying to a lot of people I no I thinks he's the weak link in our team but nobody seems to agree with me for some reason any thoughts fellow redsss.

Bridgfordlower1991

1.) 17 Aug 2017 01:09:09
Nae Comment on the Wee Man.

2.) 17 Aug 2017 07:40:59
I've said it all through last season and in to this one, he just hasn't progressed in the last 2 seasons. He showed a lot of promise but he's just not fulfilled his potential. I think the Portuguese will be bought in as his replacement.

3.) 17 Aug 2017 08:07:08
Other than left wing to balance the side, I don't think you can play Osborn, and now we have McKay and carayol, he is surplus to requirements to me.
Don't want martins been farmed out all over, Just another journeyman.
Ben Watson be a better call.

4.) 17 Aug 2017 09:20:11
It was an Osbourne error that led to Barnsleys second goal, he tried to be clever with the ball with one of his step over-instep things and then gave it away in the middle of the park.
I'm not an Osbourne fan, he isn't the brightest or the smartest and is a one trick pony.

5.) 17 Aug 2017 10:12:56
Chugsy. When it comes to Osborn i think he works hard but needs to improve his technique, however to say he gave away the ball in the middle of the park therefore he was to blame for the second goal is harsh. Obviously we do not want players giving the ball away, no matter where on the park it is, but when you give the ball away in the middle of the park there are still some Forest players before a player gets sight of goal, where were they.

6.) 17 Aug 2017 12:30:52
They used to say the same about McGovern when we won all our trophies
Now he is a legend ?

7.) 18 Aug 2017 03:00:26
Osbourne works off the ball better than any of our midfield, he creates spaces and when he is on ball he can create he also tracks back a million times better than Carayol or Clough. I think he is still finding it hard to adjust to the wing back role Warburton is asking him to play but if you ask any footballer that is a very tough position to play as invokes huge amounts of energy and consentration. Some of our fans give Osborne way too much disrespect.

8.) 18 Aug 2017 06:44:55
I completely agree when Brereton has a stinker is oh he's being played out of position but Osborn has played wing back left mid and center mid but is constantly targeted eventhough last season he had the second most assists in the league I think unfortunately for Osborn he is a victim of his own versatility.

Ff79 read my post properly I never said we had that money to burn I was saying there's no way we would pay that kind of money for wells but if we did have the money which we haven't I'd rather spend money on a defender.

This rumour doesn't make any sense at all no way we would pay stupid money like that for a striker plus we have 4 strikers already don't need anymore and even if we was willing to spent money like that would rather offer 5 mill for Aiden flint solid centre back is wat we need the most imo.

It's not that he's worth that it's he has a lot of potential and tbh spurs have a good record of buying good young players and turning them into superstars just look at delli alli 5 mill from mk dons before that bale from Southampton 10 mill then got 80 million for him.

I wouldn't say it's arguing i'd say it's different opinions that's wat makes this site so good plus we're all just passionate about football most of all we all love forest let's just hope we have a better season than the nightmare we had last season we shouldn't expect to much mid table would be an achievement imo least it would show progress just hope we can keep the same manager for more than a season cus I truly believe he is the man to take our great club forward you reds.
