Hi Ed002,

Your usual weekly prompt incoming!

Thanks!

Grantham-Reds

{Ed002's Note - I am travelling for a few days and will chase him when I get back - sorry

Hi Ed002,

Earlier in the season you said that you may be able to post an update on our potential transfer dealings this summer. If you have bandwidth I wondered if that is still the case?

There's lots of interesting, and quite exciting rumours kicking about. It would be great to see younger, hungry lower league players come in like Charles of Yates in addition to some experience like Mowatt and Assombalonga coming back.

Grantham-Reds

{Ed002's Note - I will need to call someone to ask - but could you remind me later next week please.}

Thanks Ed!

I wondered if any of the Ed's are able to do a transfer round up for Forest as they do for many of the other clubs. Would be interesting to see what is true and what's not in the press?

Grantham-Reds

{Ed002's Note - I am afraid I cannot help. I would have to ask around and don’t have the time right now. Remind me at the start of the transfer window in the summer and I will do something.}

1.) 24 Jan 2021 17:36:15
Thanks mate. I expect we will have a really manager by then anyway!

Hi Ed002,

I was wondering if that transfer update was possible yet? The tabloids make for depressing reading and the lack of signings is a huge cause for concern.

Cheers!

{Ed002's Note - I’ll chase him again.

I've never felt more passionately about a manager being sacked. I hate the way we play, I hate the way we fall on our sword and pay so much respect to 'better' opposition. You'd think we played Barcelona tonight, not Norwich. Why not have a go? By trying not to lose we lose anyway! There was that little intent that there were no half time or early second half changes and a second striker in the 86th minute.

I'm not sure I've felt so disillusioned and I'm almost grateful that the decision not to go to games has been taken out of my hands.

It is said the players miss the atmosphere of the crowds and would play better . The crowd is ruthless and all shout and applaud loudly if there is a goal or entertaining play. However the opposite is also true, the crowd murmurs, shouts for players to be brought on, worse boos and then they leave the ground before the final whistle . So by now CH would be without a job! . I see no nucleus of players forming for next season . Just a carryon of the manner of play that has affected us for a year and led to this position. Can CH get us playing better I now doubt . Garner and FK are the bright lights and possibly Knock but they are all loans and will go . None of which we should buy . Season ticket sales will collapse from a high last year . We are in a mess . Note Sunderland - it took a season or two in League 1 and finally things are coming together. It is not a solution I want but is it the only way to get rid of most of the squad, get the youngsters back who want to play. Even Maranakis selling the club so the back room disappears as well and maybe a young manager at the helm.

I'm writing this post more as a brain dump, and a form of therapy. I think it helps to put on paper how s*** we are and what a mess we are in.

Including players on loan we have a first team squad of 38. A good side needs, on average, 22-23. That's 12-13 departures and assumes there are 23 players good enough to make up a squad for this League, let alone a team wanting promotion.

So whose good enough?

Samba, Worrall, McKenna, Ribeiro, Lolley of last season and Mighten are good enough. Yates could be, Knockaert and Krovinovic too but they aren't our players.

Soh, Gabriel, Fornah, McGuane, Preston Swan and Johnson are all untested at this level (for the most part) but could form part of a future first team squad.

If we put faith in the young players then we have core team of 13 or so players.

So that means the following should be shown the exit door - an enormous 23 players. Imagine the wages we spend on these guys, it makes you feel sick.

Christie, Figuerido, Grabban, Colback, Ameobi, Smith, Bong, Bachirou, Freeman, Jenkinson, Cafu, Guerrero, Dawson, Sow, Yates, Blackett, Arter, Taylor, Diallo, da Costa, Carvalho, Ioannou and Hefele

Then you ask, where do we need to strengthen? The answer is everywhere.

100% agree. I'm losing the will to live. never seen anything like it. Relegation I think would probably do us good although there's FFP to think about. The owners need to go as all his backroom staff DoF especially. But who'd buy this poisoned chalice of a club. the £££ it'd take to sort this out is unimaginable, from top to bottom. grassroots up. Whilst there's no crowds there I think the powers that be are protected from knowing the mood amongst fans. social media only goes so far.
I read today about Marseilles game being cancelled due to there fans rioting. don't want to sound dramatic but it may take some kind of protest for us to be heard. I sometimes wish we were more like continental fans, the supporters clubs and passion they have makes their chairman and owners listen to them, they do hold a little power and have a say in how things are run.
I really can't stand by and watch the club I love. the memories I have, standing on the old colwick road end as a child with my dad rain or shine be destroyed by a fat, corrupt foreigner and his cronies who clearly don't give a toss.

2.) 30 Jan 2021 21:42:19
We’re a historic, huge club but are treated as second fiddle to Olympiacos. It’s a huge problem of being the ‘second club’ of an owner. It’s like being the step-child.

We need to do all we can to avoid relegation, it would take years to clean out the squad and we would be in massive FFP trouble.

I hope we stay up, and have the leadership to draw in the swamp. That includes the manager and the staff who are responsible for the style of play at the very least.

3.) 30 Jan 2021 21:43:34
In the UK we never riot , just complain how bad things are.

4.) 30 Jan 2021 22:13:59
im with you on the memories red, i was there when the main stand burnt down, sat on a beer crate all the way to munich good days but gone. the city ground deserves better get rid of the dof and the prince of monnaco or who ever he is. we may as well keep hughton nobody decent would touch us with a barge pole.

5.) 30 Jan 2021 22:40:11
Northwest someone who agrees with me thought it was just me that seen what the useless greek was doing to our club maybe when we're in league one fans will stop blaming managers and players and see who is really to blame.

6.) 31 Jan 2021 00:48:15
Well said northwest 👍.

7.) 31 Jan 2021 01:05:48
Perhaps a season in league one wouldn't be the worst thing at least they would have to give youth a chance.

8.) 31 Jan 2021 09:26:18
We can't protest due to c.v. but surely somebody on here has the skill to find where the fat Greek lives and we all spend a first class stamp on a letter each week all saying the same thing" OUT " a few thousand letters a day might get his attention (sorry planet) or at least piss his big fat Greek secretary off 😂.
