Obviously it's early days and i wasn't at Mansfield just watched the highlights, but we look to have a taller, fitter, and more compact side, with a midfield moving the ball about quickly and accurately. They also seem to have a confidence about them, so I'd say we are definitely on the mend. Good to see Edser getting his chance too.

1.) 23 Jul 2017 12:52:46
i agree they looked to be moving the ball a lot quicker than we've seen them do for a while.

22 Jul 2017 09:30:58
Will Tyler Walker to be loaned out again? He doesn't seem to fit into anyone's plans so far?

bsered

1.) 22 Jul 2017 10:44:08
No, MW apparently said he's going to get his chance.

2.) 22 Jul 2017 10:46:27
Last I heard, Grimsby were interested in him. It may still come through.

Some players develop at different stages - Walker is a talented player, but for me, he's lacked the aggression and determination on the pitch to be as effective as he maybe could be.

Hopefully some injury free loan spells will do him the world of good.

3.) 22 Jul 2017 12:52:38
i agree LDN, with us having brereton, cummings, murphy and vellios i couldn't see walker getting on the bench much at all. hopefully we can sign jackson irvine who according to paul taylor could have a release clause of just under £1.5m which would be a massive bargain. apparently villa, swansea, brighton and the sheep are just some of those interested.

4.) 22 Jul 2017 12:57:27
I would back Walker in a sprint against any of them, which shows why he's still here. For me he needs to play a season in league one to mature and then he could be a real asset. However, until we get another striker in he's a different option in the squad.

5.) 22 Jul 2017 15:20:41
From what I've seen of him, which isn't a massive amount to be fair, he looks like an old school speedy striker (like Owen, Defoe, Wright although clearly not that calibre) that plays well with a big man laying off and flicking balls on for him. In the 90s he'd have made a good striker. Nowadays players like that have to be absolutely clinical or have something else to their game in order to make it at a decent level. I think he needs to convert to right forward/ wing or even right wing back if he wants to progress as a championship player. He'll probably do well as a striker in league two and maybe even league one in a decent team but not the top two divisions.

6.) 22 Jul 2017 16:59:27
He's just scored.

7.) 22 Jul 2017 17:14:20
He was terrible at Notts County mid week, probably made it worse due to the fact that he was preferred in the middle over Brereton who got put on the RW. Walker imo is not good enough and is now 5th choice behind Vellios, Murphy, Brereton, Cummings. Should be sent on loan to a League one club.

Jammy sods! You couldn't take me as well!

2.) 03 Jun 2017 13:50:53
So that's their reward for just surviving relegation? Don't get me wrong guys, glad they did. However if I was the manager, I'd have them training on the beach at Bognor Regis!

3.) 04 Jun 2017 08:18:44
Glad you're not our manager Rogie 😂.

4.) 04 Jun 2017 17:51:24
Yeah mate! And in the month of January! 😵😵😵 Lol!

5.) 04 Jun 2017 22:57:37
Rog is saving himself for the England job, I'm in!

6.) 05 Jun 2017 21:51:30
Yes mate, i'd soon whip'em into shape! Up at 3am, then a cold bath for starters. Then a ten mile hike, (without any social media gadgets, headphones etc. All chucked in the bin) after that a nice bowl of cold porridge, Your then kitted out in something like they done PE with in "Colditz". Proper "sneakers" to run in!

None of your ridiculous different coloured boots, "Body Armour" or "Snoods" on my watch! Next up. "Bunny Hops" up and down the pitch 6 times. Then a nice game of "give your teammate a piggy back" just the 5 miles this time.

Then to enhance their speed and balance, let them "chase the chicken" around a yard (just like Rocky. makes a nice change from us running around like headless chickens).

Then just to warm down . a leisurely stroll through the nettles, (just like Sir Brian) then to finish off, a nice cold shower. (with none of your posh muck, like shampoos, conditioners, body sprays, face muds, colognes, soothing balms, or musks for that matter), then it's off to a nice wooden bunk bed, complete with a straw matress (none off your heated seats malarkey!, then it's same again tomorrow, after a few weeks of my regime, we'll smash this league! 👿👿👿.

Vaughan signed for a year.

1.) 22 May 2017 14:54:30
What about Grant?

2.) 23 May 2017 11:26:38
I think we should move to hijack Uniteds move for Antoine Griezmann.

3.) 23 May 2017 13:50:37
More likely to end up with Juan Carlos Paredes in our midfield!

4.) 24 May 2017 14:13:17
Grant offered 3 year deal with forest although Notts are also in the running.

5.) 24 May 2017 16:09:00
Let him go! Mind you I'd rather have him than Cash.

6.) 24 May 2017 21:21:51
Sounds like you want to CASH OUT.
Hell come good, been messed about in a variety of positions, need to settle him down to one in the centre, got a good engine and physique for that.
Been a tough season for him to make that breakthrough and he's handled it well.

Wrong players on the pitch playing the wrong formation. No real captaincy, pretty football but not having any effect. MW, and I said I'd give him 10 games this season, does not seem to have either a clue or any form of motivation for the players. Sorry but with this type of play we are heading for the bottom 6 again.

1.) 15 Oct 2017 17:25:51
bserd I agree with you. I really cannot see Waburton holding on to his job. A defeat or draw with Burton will in my view see him sacked. He has known about the defence since last season. What happened to clean sheets ? When we loose which is all time it is never even One Nil. When thing are going against us he has no idea how to change things.

A very welcome three points, as long as we get up to 43 in total I'll feel happy, but it might still be a rough ride.

I know it seems a daft question, but if Mills is out and Hobbs injured and Manc injured as well do we have anyone in the U23s or U18s that could be useful? Coveney? Ahmedovic? Inexperienced but we might need someone other than Fox. Just a thought!

bsered

1.) 28 Sep 2017 13:22:21
I don't know the answer to your question bsered, but I did read in the bird site a while back, that Hobbs has something in his contact regarding league appearances and a pay rise. Obviously you don't know how true theses rumours are, but it would explain his absence on match days.

2.) 28 Sep 2017 15:25:25
Velios centre-back then!

3.) 28 Sep 2017 15:58:18
Who says Hobbs is injured or is it just assumed he is?

4.) 28 Sep 2017 20:41:19
Red. Hobbs is a injury.

5.) 29 Sep 2017 08:30:08
Brereton will prob play there and evtimov will play on the wing.
Didn't bridcut play cb at Leeds a few times?

26 Sep 2017 21:46:55
Forest played some excellent football and still lost to a Fulham side, decidedly average, but who I warned would not roll over. Same mistakes from goalkeeper and defence costing us match after match. No-one appears able to do anything about it and we face Sheffield United who put four past Wednesday next. The slide looks as though it is in full swing, sad to say.

bsered

25 Sep 2017 18:58:57
We should not underestimate Fulham. They will not be a walk over. If we are looking for answers as to why we are not getting positive results there are 5 main requirements 1. A captain who commands the side and is not afraid to tell others what to do on the pitch 2. Develop Bridcutt into a better Defensive Midfielder 3.Get defenders to defend every ball and mark opponents in the box 4. Tell all players not to commit fouls anywhere near the penalty box or corner flag areas. 5.Stop playing central strikers as wingers when we have wingers and wing-backs on the pitch.

RAP, I've no doubt everyone on here is behind the manager and the team and want us to do the best we can, but the lessons about our porous defence over the last few years do not seem to have been learned - you don't have to be an expert football manager to see that. All we are saying is that we are of the opinion that our shortcomings let us down and need to be addressed, no-one is whining or calling for anyone's head. This is rumours/banter site and people should feel free to say what they like whether others agree with their feelings/views or not. We don't need to be told we are whiners or letting the players down. Growing up as far as I remember is not a choice, it just happens or it doesn't.

Unless we've gone into another downward spiral again. We seem to start and sometimes finish seasons ok but lose it in the middle. As in previous years NFFC have little consistency whether it be not having the right players, not using the right formation or just not being good enough. We will give time to MW but as I said earlier this season the warning signs are already out.

Can't see Smith being dropped, so if Ronnow comes to us likely he will be rotated in terms of matches with Smith.

Like most people I want Warburton to succeed because he insist on playing the passing game we want to see. Trouble is that he has inherited a side that cannot defend. It will not be long before some of our central defenders' contracts are up. Fox, Mills and Hobbs haven't long to go, not sure on Manc. Maybe he should risk a few more youngsters in central defence - Ahmedhodic, Coveney, and buy more defenders in the next window if available. In the meantime I see no reason why the silent Manc should be captain - he's not a natural leader, and it looks like Bridcutt is not going to "cut it"in central midfield so the gaping holes we have always had are still there. Derby's first goal came from our left hand side and I'm beginning to think letting Pinnilos go was a big mistake. Either Warburton repairs the obvious weaknesses or come January he may well be gone.

Maybe, but Mancienne as Captain? He says nowt. Fox as Central defender - where's the height we need in central defence? This team puzzles me.

Can't agree with not having Vaughan in the side. We are much better with him, and miss his crunching tackles in midfield.

We all hope that is what happens and not the reverse. If we are on the slide then we have some hard months ahead. Three points would lift the team's heads.
