If the decision to sack SP was purely based on his managerial performance to date it would be a no brainer. 3 wins in 22 is a record no other manager would survive.

Problem is there are extenuating circumstances that cloud the issue. We are in a financial black hole the extent of which none of us know. To sack SP & all of his backroom staff will cost & further implicate FFP. You then potentially undo all the good work being done at youth level. If FFP sticks for a while then SPs success at academy level could be useful.

SP has the backing of the majority & getting rid will cause unrest & possibly destabilise the club, your then asking a new manager to come in & sort out the fall out & keep out the relegation zone, without his own players under an embargo.

We have got to hope SP can get a few results in the next 4 games & re-evaluate at the end of the season.

A loss against Millwall changes everything.

If we get into a relegation battle and go down,i wonder how many Pearce groupies will be still banging on about him,he might be a legend on the field but as a manager he falls short

2.) 23 Jan 2015
We are nowhere near relegation as yet. I agree that if we continue like this and drop closer to the bottom SP needs to go but whilst we are relatively comfortable let's wait and see. Cjay is right Millwall is a big one!

A win and we move further away from trouble, lose and oh dear.

We can't sack him yet. Fingers crossed he gets to the summer and then we can all relax and see what Fawaz does.

You make some good points cjay , firstly that SP has been given more of a chance than any other manager would have been given .
It will cost the club money to get rid unless SP walks but that is unlikely to happen as he is being given a free ride because of the fans support which is very worrying .
don't agree that youth set up .
will be disrupted as GB has this sorted .
You say the club could be destabilised by new man ! New man would know he can't come on and sign a new team , and he would be working with what we have , I think there will be many who would jump at the chance to have the current squad even without additions ,so I'm not concerned about the latter points .
Most important thing is to ensure we get right man next time , because we all agree we can't keep swapping and changing , would the CEO have a big say in who comes in or would it be down to fawaz . We have a fantastic club we have got to make the right appointment if SP goes .
Tactically we are always one step behind , we never take the initiative , as you said , in another post ,conceded first on 15 of last 19 matches , naive would be an under statement

4.) 24 Jan 2015
So tell us what you'd do boiler man? We all understand the position we are in but most of us also appreciate how hard its going to be to get out of it. Sack sp, more costs and a backwards step again? Who comes in to replace him? No money to spend and potentially in a close call with relegation would say to most an experienced man is needed but that goes against what most people would want as the common call is for a young up and coming manager-touggh call for fawaz and our whole management team!! It doesn't end with sacking sp it only starts again??

5.) 24 Jan 2015
Well said 2tone. they tell us he should be sacked blah blah blah but never tell us how they would fix it, or if they do it will cost the club loads. like people say Tim sherwood, but he has less experience than Pearce who has got slated because he doesn't no the league. what about Zola they say, who needed to spend big money on loan fees and wages at Watford for little return.
I say stick by him. he needs the chance to shift out the rest of the duds and bring his own players in.

6.) 24 Jan 2015
I think Pearce needs to sort out the defence we are leaking goals,he needs a midfield general, tricky i know but with Reid out indefinitely something must be done,Pearce was an awesome defender but at the end of the day he did what he was told, maybe the overall team plan escape's him so get an experienced geezer in to help him.Maybe man to man marking not pretty but needs must 😃

7.) 24 Jan 2015
I suggested glen hoddle alongside him in a form of director of football? But he hasn't helped much at qpr- you'd have thought he could sort the defence but maybe those fa coaching techniques don't cover defending? Not sure they cover attacking either😊 I don't know the way out of it and until I can come up with a viable alternative I'll back fawaz and sp as I'm pretty sure they are doing what they think will resolve it.

What I can't grasp right now is how or why are we so reliant on a 32 yr old midfielder in Reid who is certainly no midfield general and Cohen who has hardly kicked a ball poor lad in 3 years and when he has it was usually at left back. SP has had ample opportunity to sort this problem out as well as the left back problem yet has failed to do so. Why sign Kane when we have a right back? Just baffles me.

9.) 24 Jan 2015
There are 3 qualities lacking from our current midfield. Leadership, creativity & the ability to win the ball back by pressing the opposition. Enter Reid & Cohen.

10.) 24 Jan 2015
Personally i don't think Cohen is going to be the same again,as for Reid well 32 isn't that old,i think he needs to find a brick to shore up midfield Mancienne will be back soon so one problem solved,an experienced midfielder who can't get a game with his Prem or Champ side must be someone out there that really wants to play😈

11.) 24 Jan 2015
24 Jan 2015 10:55:51
Agree with the 3 things missing Cjay but you have Lansbury that should have stepped up to replace Reid and any midfielder should be able to tackle and win the ball. The fact that we have not replaced or found others to do the job is quite simply down to management and is very poor. The loan signings made so far have not tried to sort the problem either. No club should be so reliant on 1 player as fans suggest in Reid.

12.) 24 Jan 2015
Nick26: I agree with pretty much everything you say. The only difference between our opinions is i'm not yet convinced the grass would be greener if we pulled the trigger on SP now.

13.) 24 Jan 2015
24 Jan 2015 13:54:48
I'm not convinced the grass would be greener either but my fear is that if we don't do something soon any new man might not have time to change things around. The club is greater than any 1 player or ex player no matter how big a hero he may be and right now I just can't convince myself that things are going to improve.

14.) 24 Jan 2015
I agree with what's being said by Cjay and nick26. Hypothetical question for you guys (and anyone else): if Fawaz were to pull the trigger on SP right now - who would you want to replace him? I know who I believe to be one of the only viable options but would be interested to see if you agree on that!

15.) 24 Jan 2015
With the transfer window still open I think there is still time to shift one or two and bring in the attacker and left back needed to get more goals and keep more clean sheets. We aren't out of the play-off mix yet. Next season will be even more difficult with the embargo still in force. Let's hope it can still be done.

16.) 24 Jan 2015
Boilerman , these fans are not 'groupies' as you call them. They just want pearce to succeed. Simple. You don't want him to, yeah we get it, but to be honest it's getting boring!

17.) 24 Jan 2015
24 Jan 2015 16:04:48
Mostly agree with what Cjay has said, but it seems to me we need a better faster centre-back combination and we could be using our youngsters there, we also need a midfield dynamo/stopper/defender/linkup person preferably experienced in this transfer window. But that is a big ask!

18.) 24 Jan 2015
163RED,of course i want Pearce to succeed if he succeeds then so do Forest, but to many people are putting him on a pedestal, they want to believe in him, they should get real and realise he needs proper professional help from a tried and tested scource ,his managerial record is pretty dodgy,so give him the Millwall game if we lose he should walk if we win well let's wait and see 😁

19.) 24 Jan 2015
24 Jan 2015 19:19:40
boilerman at the start of the season expectation was put on pearce s shoulders same as the sheep put it on wolly with the brolly shoulders last week sometimes things don't go to plan and while your looking at the things he s done wrong look at other things that he didn't cause like the embargo the destruction of the academy and the drama with the media.

20.) 24 Jan 2015
Conclusion work in progress and the realisation that the squad is not as good as the competition or the expectation of fans. However we will never get promotion if we keep changing managers and buying their shopping lists.
We need to get together a committed group of players not chequebook signings and develop the youngsters.
SP has made astute signings so far and has pulled the club together.
He is clearly the person to lead this club but needs the time to restructure both playing squad and improve the coaching expertise

21.) 24 Jan 2015
Redinexile: Interesting that after weeks of putting forward a detailed scrutiny of SPs failings as a manager the minds of the majority are open enough to realise an immediate change is not the solution. Your steadfast refusal to criticise the manager is admirable but your conclusion the players aren't good enough is too convenient. Maybe you & a couple of others should open their minds to the fact SP needs to improve as a manager.

Our midfield is the weak link which leaves our defence far to exposed. This is the fault of our manager and coaching staff who are unable to get the tactics right.

Are our current midfielders really worse players than McKenna, Cohen, radi, Anderson and mcgugan? Most we never really looked like losing back then, our midfield ran games.

Pearce fan, groupie, critic it's irrelevant in the face of what is factual insofar as we seldom survive the first twenty mins without conceding, we are easy to out smart, we are worse than we've been for years. Attendances are falling people are voting with their feet having read the writing on the wall.
