Forest in for Jonnny Williams from Palace. Busy & inventive little midfielder. Good signing IMO. Ran rings round us for Ipswich last season.

Cjay

1.) 19 Jul 2015 20:44:56
Agreed but need to free up some space first otherwise we are sacrificing a spot for GK, left back, DMF

2.) 20 Jul 2015 12:03:01
Don't need a dmf, have got Vaughan and mancienne. Really need a proven striker, left back and goal keeper.

3.) 20 Jul 2015 14:24:23
Vaughn & Mancienne aren't viable DMs though. If you go down that route your just replicating the losing formula from last season.

4.) 20 Jul 2015 15:41:44
Well said Cjay. DFM is a priority position. Vaughan and mancienne are not good enough and the reason we ended up playing so deep last season which ultimately ended up isolating the centre forward

5.) 20 Jul 2015 18:07:43
If Tesche stays we won't be bringing in a DFM. We will probably sign a versatile player who can cover LB and a striker. If we can't move people on then that will be your lot I'm afraid.

Rangers looking at Freedman as next manager: Source: Scottish red top

Cjay

1.) 25 Feb 2015 13:37:52
Rangers cannot be "looking" for anyone as there are at least 3 groups of directors fighting for control of the club.

Mike Ashley will finally decide on who he wants at the end of the season once the others fail to match their bluster with cash and he gains complete control

2.) 25 Feb 2015 13:54:44
Billy Davies was also heavily linked with this job. Anyone who thinks things are bad at Forest in terms of how the club is run would think we are a model of stability and order in comparison. No manager with any pedigree will consider this job unless or until some stability is brought to the club. And no-one sees that happening in the short to medium term at least.

3.) 25 Feb 2015 14:35:23
Sign Dougie on a long term contract failing that Mark Warburton will be looking for work.

4.) 25 Feb 2015 16:53:40
dougie as already made that mistake with hjs move from palace to bolton i can't see him making it again.

5.) 25 Feb 2015 18:16:56
Sloppy reporting.
He's not even in betting.
This is made up rumour and never going to happen.

Expecting a decent game tonight. Both teams get to play to their strengths, Leeds get plenty of possession and we get a go them on the break.

Whoever executes it better gets the points. Helps that Leeds are out of form but then its always fine margins with us at home.

Toss of coin job.

Drink it in lads, he's here to stay. there's your statement, we're officially in the race.

1.) 06 Oct 2018 17:59:25
Great win. Just need home performances to improve.

2.) 06 Oct 2018 18:00:52
Cjay, YOU said AK choice of players were suicide. So YOU were one of the experts. 🤣

3.) 06 Oct 2018 18:19:43
Fantastic!!! Enjoy lads!!!🍺🍺🍺

4.) 06 Oct 2018 18:47:12
4 points better off now can ak deliver!!!!!!

5.) 06 Oct 2018 19:09:57
Sutton
Im so pleased with the result and the performance but i stand by my original post on the subject.

There is no need to get all excited about the team when so much money has been spent yet untill today's game we were only 1 point better off than last season.

Long may we continue playing like we did today, and off course the result is a added bonus.

6.) 06 Oct 2018 19:13:37
I said 442 was suicide!

Need to get them facts straight.

7.) 06 Oct 2018 19:34:20
No, no you said a back four with Colback and Guedioura is suicide, that is as much about the players as the system. Please read your post again. 😁

8.) 06 Oct 2018 19:40:53
We have lost 1 game all season including cup games that is massive progression over last season.being hard to beat is what is the biggest improvement.we aren't pushovers anymore which we have been in previous seasons we fight to the end and even today we was still after another goal.

9.) 06 Oct 2018 19:43:22
Sorry you said a Midfield 4 with Colback and Guedioura is suicide.

10.) 06 Oct 2018 19:52:23
Blimey. .advice not to get too excited after a great win.
Does it really matter how much we have spent ?
Bearing in mind we have got rid off/loaned out nearly 20 players which needed replacing . Yes we have a couple of expensive buys but that doesn't guarantee success as we all know.
Dont care about last seasons points.
Points vary from season to season for promoted/relegated sides so irrelevant.
Im excited with the potential in the squad. There will be some more moved on in January and hopefully some additions but the squad is developing nicely.

11.) 06 Oct 2018 20:05:25
How about we all say well done forest and enjoy the league table for a couple of weeks now. I think most views expressed on here are mostly valid . We can all have the told you so moment can’t we? It’s fair to say we are making progress and had we have held out weds (which we should have) we’d be feeling very positive

12.) 06 Oct 2018 20:17:44
Cjay you were as silent as a mouse after the millwall game now your shouting from the rooftops at least were consistent lol, credit where credit is due criticism when it's due, one bad performance and you say it's too early to judge so why after one good performance can you judge and say he is hear to stay ? Surely has to work both ways

04 Oct 2018 09:55:58
Tough to dress that up, felt like a loss.

Pantillimons in the chair for his strange keeping display, distribution was garbage. Next up Heff, looked like a competition winner all of a sudden. Janko miscontrolled basic passes and got nothing going with Cash.

A defensive mess all in, Millwall could have bagged double figures with the high ball.

Been an advocate of Carvalho on here, no excuses, he looked poor last night aside from the free kick. i'd also go as far as to say the 20 mill for Dias looks unlikely.

Should have won, shouldn't have been spooked into a rearguard at 2-1.

Boro will fancy it Saturday I suspect.

Nowt against the game plan, just think it was executed very poorly.

Cjay

1.) 04 Oct 2018 10:17:35
Cjay wasn’t it u that used the phrase ‘impregnable ‘ at the back?

2.) 04 Oct 2018 10:28:57
Nope, but I could have done before the last 2 games given we're up their in the defensive stats.

We were awful at the back last night, mainly due to Pants & Heffele, backed up in parts by Janko. Bad nights don't make you garbage.

Happy to be negative when needed, as opposed to all the time.

3.) 04 Oct 2018 10:31:39
To be fair Stevie f they have been impregnable in the last few games but think all of the back four had a seriously bad game last night. Think the manager could not fathem out what the heck was happening and though not trying to tell him his game me thinks putting Dias in was the wrong sub.
Just cannot make my mind up on Pants. Was a seating force when he came last season but is blowing hit and cold this time out. If we are going to be any sort of a challenge we need a commanding man between the posts as all drives forward from there and gives confidence to the back four. Clough's words but he stated defence.

4.) 04 Oct 2018 10:54:27
End of the day it's the home draws that are costing us a comfortable top 6 position. However you judge the performance we were 2-0 up with 20 odd mins to go and should see it out.Pants had a shocker for the first and watch the second,Janko,Heff and Robinson all have to do better.Robinson was tracking back with Gregory then just stopped running! Next 4 games look really tough.

5.) 04 Oct 2018 11:12:13
Cjay good post. But did i hear you right that Dias is an option at £20mil???? I have gone faint. We have better accademy players. We need the likes of Tomlin not Dias. Tomlin brought guile and cleverness to the team and was strong. These 3 lightweights will never cut it in this league.

6.) 04 Oct 2018 11:36:38
20 million Euros Rutland. Which looks about 19 million heavy.

7.) 04 Oct 2018 14:40:43
How can anyone say we were looking impregnable before last night?
Two last night
Two at Blackburn
Two against stoke
One against sheff weds
If that's impregnable I'd hate to see us start shipping goals.lol

8.) 04 Oct 2018 15:26:45
Karankas shipped an average of 1 per game over 26 games preceding the Stoke game.

Thats a decent return & "impregnable" seems fair in a free scoring league like the Championship.

Fair to say our standards are slipping? Yep. But idf clean sheets are the standard, then the bars too high.

9.) 04 Oct 2018 16:58:35
Cjay you have a strange idea of what a good defence is.
Mind you it's been that long since we've seen one at forest.

23 Sep 2018 08:49:24
Lots of nonsense talked about lucky wins and adapting formations to teams that park the bus.

We won, two on the spin against sides who've played on the counter.

Take nothing for granted in this league, some of the results yesterday living proof you take every game at a time and do what it takes to win it.

It wasn't particularly fluent, but we we've been almost impenetrable at the back with this formation and scored goals.

Id worry more about entertainment value when we're sitting pretty at the top.

Cjay

1.) 23 Sep 2018 11:04:34
Nonsense - indeed.

2.) 23 Sep 2018 12:40:08
Impenetrable at the back - how many clean sheets does that equate to?

20 Sep 2018 10:49:02
Good to see some humility fellas, Its progress when you reduce a side, used to coming here and pocketing three points, to absolutely nowt.

Plans coming together, probably gains further momentum with Grabban scoring, Carvalho running another show and Heffele, Fox and the screen of Pep and Colback looking almost inpenetrable.

Thats an AK performance in a nutshell, unpick the opposition, get the goal, bring em out and kill em off. Its going to be a slog of a season for anyone who didn't enjoy that for a nights entertainment.

Dont see us taking teams to the cleaners, but another masterclass Saturday and we're in this for the duration.

Cjay

1.) 20 Sep 2018 12:15:54
Hence the reason why those early concession of goals had to stop for the plan to work - heff has been the differentiator in stopping us conceding early goals - it really was holding us back.
Regarding Carvalho he didn’t run the game at all Cjay, what you want to happen or foresee could happen is different to what actually happened. As I said last night he grew into the game and gave glimpses of his talent I think it’s very possible he could dictate games - it’s inaccuraye to say he did that last night but he did do 100% better than he has since the WBA game. A thumbs up from me for carvalho for making the improvements necessary for a player with whom we’ve put a lot of faith in by spending a club. Record 13 million on.

2.) 20 Sep 2018 15:39:20
Nice to see the back four looking a lot more stronger with fox and the heffa outstanding good to see him being vocal and waving his arms about dragging players forward we have been missing this for seasons well done to all

3.) 20 Sep 2018 16:24:18
Heffa is hilarious

4.) 20 Sep 2018 16:24:51
We have some older and wiser heads beginning to have an effect:
Pantilimon, Hefele, Guediora and Fox (who completely outjumped his 6feet four opponent last night) and Watson/Dawson when needed. Add to that the creative abilities of Carvalho and Osborn, and the speed and thrust of Janko, Cash, Dias and Lolley with Colback making Vaughan-like crunching tackles, and you can see the blend AK is aiming for. Calm heads on the pitch and a terrier like approach to everything by everybody, pushing up to pin the opposition down, is just what we have needed for so long! But there will be slips and blips no doubt. Cjay is right it's a 2 year process but if they continue to be so good to watch with a mid-week crowd of 26,000 pushing them on, this year could be at last our turning point.

Carvalhos shown enough to suggest he'll be a top player when the team becomes more familiar with each other.

When the players around him can anticipate those clever runs into pockets of space & find him consistently, he'll have a bigger influence offensively.

He wants to play one touch football, that will only come good when it becomes second nature to those around him.

Britts not the greatest fit for Lamouchi. He wouldn't be prepared to do half the running Grabbans done this season, plus he needs it on a plate, we're not creating anywhere near enough to service a poacher like Assombalonga.

Think this depends on your perceptions of our players strengths. I don't agree we should be pushing players higher up the pitch, purely because we're better on the break, We've got nothing on the books who can play a pass through the lines and we've built a defense first approach that's got us here.

Its dull to watch but it gets results, for it to work, Watson has to stay deep, so does Sow, Silva has to get the ball out wide and that's where we attack. The rest is up to individual bursts from the wingers or full backs.

Lamouchi played this way at Rennes, it won't change and I don't think he's anything more than harder work to bring to them home games where we struggle to break teams down. He's literally said as much.

I agree the recruitment Jan recruitment was dross.

We're in the top two places without really utilising much of the squad, its becoming all too evident which eleven players need to be on the pitch to get a result. Lamouchis not culpable, he's done a great job of giving a pretty average bunch of footballers an approach that gets results.

I also doubt he was part of the January window that gave him nothing to build on what he's done so far. Amazing when you consider we go into one of the biggest seasons end for many a year.

Sadly the best 11 is black and white, the legacy of a garbage looking January window, there isn't really genuine competition for places in any position on the pitch.
