According NEP Darlow and Lascelles off to Newcastle then too be loaned back to us for this season.

1.) 04 Aug 2014
Do not understand this one bit. Watford demand 10m for deeney and were apparently giving two of englands brightest young stars away for 7milion. We are way too soft when it comes to selling

{Ed034's Note - strikers always demand silly money.
i am not happy with the price, but until we see what pearce does with that money, how can we judge if he has done the right thing?? difficult isnt it lol

2.) 04 Aug 2014
04 Aug 2014 11:48:57
Awful deal if it is the 7 million being mentioned. Loan back is also stupid. Let them go and stay gone. Don't need them on loan. Hoping the figure is wrong! 7 million is a joke when McCormack fetched 11 million alone!

{Ed034's Note - you cant compare to strikers. they always demand a lot more money

3.) 04 Aug 2014
Gutted. Not so much that we've sold the but we've sold them for a lot less than we could have got. Don't forget we got £5m for Perch for goodness sake. We allowed Guediorra to go for a lot less than fans wanted last year and now we're doing the same agian. Last year the sale of Guediorra cost us dearly in terms of negative atmosphere and loss of momentum, I hope the same doesn't happen again

{Ed034's Note - no we didnt haha it was around £1.5m we got for perch

4.) 04 Aug 2014
If this is the deal, 7m for both, I think it's terrible, no matter what he does with the cash - double would be about right

{Ed034's Note - i agree, it isnt enough, but if it helps pearce bring in improvements, stegnthens the squad and gets us promoted, would it be a good deal then??

5.) 04 Aug 2014
This is true, pending the official paperwork. Likely to be finalised by the end of day

6.) 04 Aug 2014
I get the negativity and disappointment of losing 2 potential future English stars, it doesn't make a lot of sense but what irks me most is the fees touted.

I know it's difficult to compare to Shaw and Chambers but look at their fees, £46m combined. Yes they have some PL experience and Shaw plays a different role but the Chambers/Lascelles comparison is valid. one sells for £16m and the other for £3m all because of PL experience?

At the end of the day, we can all moan but we have to trust that the club know what they are doing. Also, Fawaz or Pearce have not said for certain that this is going to happen.

Come Blackpool, I fully believe that we will field a strong starting XI, a line up that can challenge for the league regardless if we get our pants pulled down by Newcastle for the cost of these players.

7.) 04 Aug 2014
What is this 2 for the price of 1 day at the city ground??

Can't believe they would accept that sort of silly offer!

How much would it cost us to buy them back? At least double a soon as they left!

Poor poor business!

8.) 04 Aug 2014
Fans have to consider FFP rules. . If this deal is correct £7m rising to £10m and has sell on clauses, plus a season loan back, then it is a good deal. The club have to operate within the rules of FFP. We can not continue with the owner financing everything. . Fans have to come to terms with it. . If Pearce uses some of the revenue on strengthening then what is the problem?
Also, both players have only played first team for one full season.

9.) 04 Aug 2014
Of more interest is the other clubs said to be interested. They will also look at the paltry fee being suggested knowing they could improve on it and I am sure those clubs would also agree to a loan back deal.

10.) 04 Aug 2014
Both are worth more what's going on I throught we wanted to be promoted. this is stupid and pointless. We need to keep our best youngsters, not sell them on the cheap. If we want to sell somebody sell Cox, Harding and Collins

{Ed034's Note - it is not pointless if it helps bring in players who will make the squad better. the only thing i dont get is the price being mentioned, but even then we do not know the exact amount

11.) 04 Aug 2014
7 million is an outrage for 2 of our rising stars.
I get that it is money in part for FFP. But are we not cash rich? Can we not afford a fine? Can we not afford to spend money on a big name striker or winger without having to sell to balance the books?
If we loan back Darlow & Lascelles after selling them then get promoted what do we do then?Wish them all the best and buy in foreign talent?Doesn't make sense to me.
In the end though it may be all part of SP's masterplan, so we got to have faith.

IERM

12.) 04 Aug 2014
It irks me that Pearce suggested we were not a selling club and this is exactly what we are doing.

He's going to have to spend nearly 7 million to replace one of these future stars 'should' we get in the premier league. It doesn't make sense to me and leaves me with a hollow feeling in my gut.

More money required and do we need to sell to compete? Can we not acquire 1 or 2 astute loans and keep our best players, at least for a few more seasons!?

{Ed034's Note - he has always said if an offer comes in which he thinks is a accepetable and that he can then use this money straight away to imprive the squad, he would do it

13.) 04 Aug 2014
Let's be right here, I'm not bothered if either go and do not return.
They both must have given a desire for this deal to happen, we have good defensive cover and Devries can do a good job or Butland as rumoured.
Pierce states in today's NEP that he could do with the purse strings loosening to get two players he strongly wants.
This must be where part of the money must be going.
Let's stay positive folks, the sponsorship deal may still be true

14.) 04 Aug 2014
Jack butland forests number 1.

15.) 04 Aug 2014
Don't like to our own youngsters move on but if the price and wages are right you can't blame either party. If there are sell on deals plus Newcastle pay their wages this season then it looks better. Also I wonder if SP's grand plan is to bring on Etimov for next season plus Mancienne at JL:'s replacement.

Let's be patient until we know the facts

16.) 04 Aug 2014
With all the defenders we have losing lascelles doesn't bother me, but for 3 million!, that's an insult, 5/6 million would be nearer the mark. Darlow goes, butland comes in on season loan with a view to buy if we get promoted.

17.) 04 Aug 2014
Just been on sky 5 mil plus so could be even less than the 7 being quoted

18.) 04 Aug 2014
If this is true, it is sad, but we must cover transfers in with transfers out. It does annoy me that it's only 7m considering other prices people have gone for (ed I know they're strikers but its never 300% more for a striker). However, for two players that have played less than 100 games for is between them in a reds shirt, 7 million is decent. They would never have made it into the team if it wasn't for injuries/player fall outs. It is probably how youngsters get their chance nowadays. Darlow is a huge loss, very talented keeper, but lascelles? In a fully for squad (seems unlikely but still) he'd be 4th pick CB.

19.) 04 Aug 2014
I personally don't like the attitude of 'we can afford a fine. ' The aim should always be to have a successful, but also sustainable football club. And being sustainable requires selling players. There are other areas of the squad that need strengthening and Pearce has already brought in players with potential to cover the defence.

I also don't like how people are having a dig at Darlow for his comments last week. Saying he was happy to stay at the club is not the same as saying he wouldn't be happier to get a big money move to a premier league club. That wasn't what he was asked or what he was quoted as saying.

I am happy for them to come back on loan, they are young hungry players who want to play football, and if anything they will try and play better with the knowledge they have a chance to impress their new club and of breaking into the team of a decent premier league outfit next season.

20.) 04 Aug 2014
Just going on what bexonboy said. been quoted on ssn that its "upwards of £5m" so let's hope they are wrong.
as upsetting as it is knowing they are both pretty much gone imo butland swap for darlow is a good deal.
lascelles gone. do you really think its a massive loss concidering we have mancienne and riera (both for a fraction of the price) as well as hobbs and wilson
then we still have the 7m to spend. not bad if you look at it positively

21.) 04 Aug 2014
Fans saying £7m not enough.

But they are unaware of the terms of the deal.

If loaned back to us it may mean we don't pay wages or perhaps a small amount, saving lotsa money.

We don't have to pay a loan fee, which clubs normally would.

The truth is we only see the headline rate of £7m but this will rise depending on appearances and also has many other benefits such as reduction in wage bills and no loan fee to pay

Look at the bigger picture guys. its not just about the transfer fee.

22.) 04 Aug 2014
I don't see how the sponsorship deal is true if we need to do this. Also it won't help their development - as soon as they have their dodgy spells as all young players do and as both did last season, their commitment will be questioned and some of the crowd will be on their back.
Why is it always us?

23.) 04 Aug 2014
If this is true 7 million for both then Newcastle have had our pants down. Salt in the wound if we end up overpaying for replacements. See how this pans out but it's put a bit of a downer on the opening game for me.

24.) 04 Aug 2014
I hate moaning negative fans regardless of who they support.
please look at this positively
2 players who have played for a championship club for 1 season. £7m not as much as wed like but on the flip side we have got mancienne and reira (played in the top league in england and germany/ bought up in barcelona captain and winner of youth champions league) both for fractions of the price we've got for lascelles and stil having hobbs and wilson.
darlow for butland. again leaving us cash to spend.
AND having them both still for the upcoming season. some good positives in theses deals if you take a step back and look at it positively

25.) 04 Aug 2014
Well mr pearce did say he didn't hqve to sell our young rising stars because of financial reasons but if he could sell and use the money to Improve the squad he would consider it. So because of ffp and mr pearce wanting to still improve the squad it sounds like he has a plan. It is not all doom and gloom, we have replaced lascelles with a few centre backs more than capable and have experience in devries and a young up and coming goalie in emvitov who has the makings of a class keeper. He can be loaned out to gain experience and am sure he will be class. Lascelles and darlow must feel that Newcastle are a gud prospect even though I feel darlow would have stayed if asked anyway gud luck to them and expect a couple of player's in soon. Bring on blackpool, can't wait.

26.) 04 Aug 2014
I think we are getting a good deal.

Lascelles was awful towards the end of last season, but no fan was prepared to be critical of him as he was 'one of our own'. Collins took all the heat from the fans, whilst he was poor he was in no worse than Lascelles.

Lascelles is not a patch on Dawson at the same age and we only got £1. 5M more. I know you can't compare transfers but I think we got screwed more with Dawson.

As for Darlow, viewed with out the Forest tinted glasses, he wasn't as great as everyone thought. Saying that I will be disappointed to see him go.

27.) 04 Aug 2014
Prices in the champ last few seasons are getting crazy, so, unless sp has the replacements lined up with a pre agreed prices, I just fail to see how we could improve with that amount (7m) - 11m McCormack and other crazy deals for players with little talent and one good season in many - worlds gone mad!

{Ed034's Note - we get both players back for the season and then get £7m (if that is the figure) to spend

28.) 04 Aug 2014
Derisory fee. Some good sensible points made here (above esp Notts86) though.

29.) 04 Aug 2014
It doesn't matter that we get 7m, the fact is the money isn't enough, these guys could be potentially be worth 10m+ each, for me that is bad business to let them both go for that figure. We rejected qpr's offer of 4m for JL alone, makes no sense to accept Newcastles insulting offer. What is 7m going to buy? 2 players worth 3.5m each? 3.5m is quickly becoming a low figure in the Championship by the season! I trust SP in the transfer market but Newcastle are getting a bargain and that's what's annoying me.

30.) 04 Aug 2014
What annoys me most above the fee is that we were promised they wouldn't be sold by fawaz and I feel a bit lied to. Just hope the money is reinvested well by sp

{Ed034's Note - we were told that they wopuldnt be sold, unless pearce decides he wants to and pearce said they would be sold I he is happy with the figure and then can use it to invest straight away

31.) 04 Aug 2014
04 Aug 2014 13:55:50
If we sell them, they should keep them! I don't want them back for that price, we do all the hard work getting their price up for another season, nah not for that price. If they come back on loan, put them straight on the bench, they won't be playing at Newcastle so let's get them prepared for that. Ridiculous

32.) 04 Aug 2014
Ed you keep saying its OK if we use the money to improve the squad. If we use the £7million to improve the squad, ie bring in 2-3 players, then the £7 million is gone, we lose two of our best young players and then have 2-3 new guys in who might not be as good. Why bother?

{Ed034's Note - we get to keep them for the season and also use the money now.
at the end of the season we have riera ready to step up, if he already hasn't and we will have to go looking for a new keeper.
I am not saying I am happy with the fee or that gthey are being sold, I am sayong that it isn't all doom and gloom and that there are positives

33.) 04 Aug 2014
Exactly, if we wanting to cash in on them why didn't we do it at the end of this season when the price will go up?
They may drastically improve this season and their price goes up. but tough, we already cashed in on them at 7m for the pair.

{Ed034's Note - and if they do not improve or get a serious injury?? pearce has decided to accept for a reason. it'll be clear tonight so lets wait and hear from him

34.) 04 Aug 2014
The way I see it is both Fawaz and SP have a business to run. What they decide I'll accept as I have no other choice and my faith is with them. We've done some good business so far and looks like another two additions coming. We have depth in defense and good cover in goal. There are rules by which football clubs must live, so it is what it is. I'm more excited for next week than the potential downsides of this rumoured deal. If SP and Fawaz are happy it's the only reason this deal will happen. I'm happy with that. Do drama queen here like the world is ending for some over this, just a realist. SP said he hoped the purse strings could be loosened a little for one deal, maybe that'll help make up for it. If not, we've a great squad at the moment even minus Lascelles and Darlow. Wish they'd stay, but c'est la vie.

35.) 04 Aug 2014
I just see a too many "ifs" and "buts" in all of this. not being neg, just realistic - could be the case we get great replacements and could be we go up - most of us say this every season, it's our yr! Then nothing. Selling the guys now, even if we get me back for a season seems a waste of time and effort. Also, if I'm a player at forest, move to a prem club but come back on loan, we get promoted then I have to leave - honestly don't get it at all

{Ed034's Note - just as many 'ifs' and 'buts' about not selling and keeping them. either way it is a risk

36.) 04 Aug 2014
During the World Cup Pearce was ranting about young English players not getting enough game time and sitting on the benches of the top premier league clubs. Do you not think this attitude would have rubbed off on the players? He has obviously seen that perhaps Lascelles and Darlow have had their heads slightly turned with all the transfer speculation surrounding them both the last couple of years, and is willing to let them go while they are being so highly rated. They've both only played one full season, if they got seriously injured or had a dip in form their price would plummet by next summer.

I trust Pearce has a plan, every decision he has made so far has been calm and sensible.

37.) 04 Aug 2014
I think a good deal for the club would be 9-10 million up front, with a sell on fee and no loan back. butland on loan with a view to buy for around the 4 million stoke paid for him would be brilliant (probably very optimistic). then if wilson can get fit, forest have 3 excellent cbs in mancienne, hobbs and wilson, with rierra to come in later in the season hopefully and cover from fox, halford, leigertwood (if he signs).7 mil for the pair is lower than fans will like but I don't believe the situation is as scandalous as fans are making out

38.) 04 Aug 2014
I think that the main grievance that people have is that young English talent seems to be going at such a premium yet we seem to be selling our lads at face value. I'm happy with the signings so far and will be happy if we being a good striker/winger in with the money but it's never nice when you sell some of your better players.

39.) 04 Aug 2014
£7m for two average championship players. Good business by SP, second half of last season after their enthusiasm wained they looked very ordinary, SP has bought in Mancienne and Laing ( better players than Lascalles ) for a combined fee of £1m and if we can get Butland for £2m, that's 3 quality players in and 2 average players out plus £4m in credit. That's good business in my book! IN PEARCE WE TRUST

{Ed034's Note - they're not average pal, come on

40.) 04 Aug 2014
Think it's only scandalous for those who think they can run a football club better than anyone else, and there are many who think they are capable from the comfort of their armchair or season ticket which somehow gives them the right and knowledge. I'm sure many have said it, but in Fawaz and SP I certainly trust more since only they have the full details of what it's all about and they are managing the business. But, it's still all speculation albeit all over the press.

41.) 04 Aug 2014
Gutted to be honest, when jl was playing with Jack Hobbs he looked to be an outstanding prospect!Kd also looked to be a very good keeper as well. The price for both players is shockingly low to say the least!Granted we will loan them back but what does this ambition say to the other players.

42.) 04 Aug 2014
Have just seen that they have both signed and it did briefly mention the loan back. Cannot believe some of the comments. We have a GREAT owner and a GREAT manager who have generated the most enthusiasm I have had in many years. JUST TRUST THEM AS THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING. There are things that you are not aware of and they are.

43.) 04 Aug 2014
Mass protest outside Sports Direct on Saturday. Robbing Geordies.

44.) 04 Aug 2014
People are trying to put a positive spin on it but 2 players of their potential for 7m is a joke. Have we not already rejected bids of m for Lascellesalone. why the change of heart? I understnad the point of reinvestment but this only works if you are reinvesting in something better than you already have. Raising a mil or two for collins, halford and harding and reinvesting in one quality player would make much more sense. I just don't understand this.

{Ed034's Note - think it might be worth you listening to Pearce later then lol

45.) 04 Aug 2014
Don't get this at all. Darlow says he wants to stay then does not. do Newcastle still have the Dutch guy in goal? as for lascelles, ok, lots of rumors since he broke through, so no smoke without fire, I. e he wanted a move and is unsettled. I would not want him back if I was another player in the squad.

46.) 04 Aug 2014
In Pearce we trust BUT I do question whether his alliances with the Geordies in his playing days have allowed them to grab a bargain from us? That said, it really reminds me of the Jenas and Reid double sale to spurs. we all really moaned like hell about the price but at the end of the day the "bigger" clubs always prosper. Bring back the PL to the (k)City ground, then future academy products won't want/have to leave!!!

{Ed034's Note - sometimes I really am speechless when reading posts in here. This is one of those occasions

47.) 04 Aug 2014
I really don't see how Darlow will be worth £10m, as quoted above. The record fee for a British keeper is only £9m and players like De Gea and Lloris have only moved for £15-17m in recent years. If we could get anywhere near £5m for him it would be an excellent price.

Same goes for Lascelles, at present I think £5-6m would be a reasonable price for him.

For me, £7m for both is perhaps a few mil shy but as long as it is reinvested well then I don't see the problem (Butland, for e. g. would be an excellent replacement for Darlow). I actually think both players, whilst very good young prospects, are massively over-rated by the Forest faithful. It's always sad to see your young players go but that's football. Reinvest and move on if that's the way forward.

48.) 04 Aug 2014
Was expecting JL to go all summer but not Darlow. That said, loan back and also the business done so far combined with Jack Butland would be very good business IMO. Just make sure it is £7m as quoted and no less. Maybe loan De Vries out. The Forest management rate Evtimov as highly as Darlow BTW.

We really need a pacy forward and IMO a very good LB. Fox isn't the solution. i'd heard a rumour of Martin Olsson for a club record fee and Harding going in the opposite direction?

{Ed034's Note - fix has been fantastic this pre-season and we also have Cohen, who was probably our player of the season until getting injured.
Why would we spend a club record fee when we have these two left backs at the club?? Haha

49.) 04 Aug 2014
Really don't get the negativity we r selling these lads for 6. 5 each so it seems? Plus a loan back for a season which is a good bit of business we can get anothe striker an maybe a winger we've the money generated and we have still got these players for a season at the end of the day all players hae a price and if tht wa sp and fawaz think is right then that fine we hae brougt young player in reira and Laing that might b our next big player we got mancienne hobos Wilson all good cb no doubt we will sell some on again in the future that's how football works look at Southampton there a feeder a club and that what majority of clubs have to do stop being negative and let roar our way to the prem this season because we've got a stron squad

50.) 04 Aug 2014
I heard about Olsson rumour a few weeks back. I would like to see this as undoubtedly he is the best LB outside the Prem.

I agree to what you have said Ed but, Cohen was always a midfielder prior to last season. Would be good to have the option. And Fox has played well in pre season but has played some games as CB not left back. Also against the better teams in the div, he isn't good enough.

{Ed034's Note - doesn't matter where he was, it's where he us now and he is a left back as well.
Fox has been playing at cb so Pearce can have an option for worst case

51.) 04 Aug 2014
Ed what's your view on reports of sale and SP not being consulted?

{Ed034's Note - disgraceful. He was consulted but his view am washy taken into account and he should have been told before sale agreed
