surely our biggest injury worry is Watson, clearly the player of the season so far and with no natural cover now Yacob has gone. Agree injury to Grabban is a worry but at least we've got some, albeit unproven, cover from these latest transfers. I worry we would be a far less effective team without BW.

Howard

1.) 01 Feb 2020 00:33:53
Bridcott gone too. He was good cover for watson.

2.) 01 Feb 2020 00:51:04
I have to say, looking at a replacement 11 of Smith; Jenkinson, Dawson, Benalouane, Bong; Bostock, Yates; Mighten, Carvalho, Diakhaby; Walker. and Da Costa/ Johnson behind them. is not a depressing sight. This is a great looking 24-man squad. Injuries can derail any team, but there’s no denying we’re covered from back to front now. Forget the window - we kept our key men. Time to mimic Reading’s naff team sheet and have the fans be the extra man. We’ve got a proper shot at this now. COYR.

3.) 01 Feb 2020 10:13:01
Agreed Irish. One of the strongest teams depth wise we've had for a long time, and in a great position in the league. there's no reason why we shouldn't be considered for automatic promotion, and that should be the aim now. Time to make teams fear us.

Certainly not good enough and flattered to deceive BUT am I wrong thinking if we’d stayed at 3-1 we would have qualified on level goal difference but better results between the two clubs?

Howard

1.) 23 Jul 2020 08:08:34
No they scored more goals as they went ahead when Swansea scored their 4th.

2.) 23 Jul 2020 08:42:44
Yes, Howard. I believe that goals scored would only have come into the equation if we had drawn both games against Swansea.

09 Jan 2020 17:02:19
Suspect we may be having difficulty attracting a proven quality striker because of only playing one up front. We need more goals so I would like to see SL experiment with 442 and bring in a fast dynamic striker to gel with Grabban's craft. Then all we need is another winger with Lolley's work rate and skill, plus a pacey midfield general. Not much to ask!

Howard

1.) 09 Jan 2020 17:44:31
We need a plan b of 442. Teams have been working us out lately. I’d go for Gayle.
We could try many different formations ie 352 433
4132. We should offer 10m for Gayle with add ins if and when we get promoted.
If not Gayle we could go for
Rhoades
Sharpe
Kodija
Vydra
Tony ect as forwards
I’d try and get Maddison from Peterborough as another winger. 2 quality additions will definitely put us in play offs maybe even automatic promotion.

2.) 09 Jan 2020 18:45:21
Rather we didn't bring any one in than bring in an half hearted crock. We should be more selective, a good attacking midfielder may be the answer if we cannot find a striker.

3.) 09 Jan 2020 20:30:31
You see red red I wouldn't like to see any of them unless they cost nothing and were on cheap wages other than Gayle.
Maddison? If he was that good he'd of been snapped up two years ago by a championship club.
We have a striker on our books scoring goals in that league and apparently that's because he's found his level? 🤔
Maybe that's Madison's level? Going to cost a few mill to find out.
January is renowned for desperate signings if we can't sign two or three quality additions I'd rather go with what we have and bring Tyler back and send mir, muric and bostock back at least with Tyler he knows the club and knows where the net is and has pace.
Personally think all the players we are supposed to be interested in are false except Nketah.

4.) 09 Jan 2020 20:43:04
442 is old hat and won't get anywhere. You get overrun in midfield unless your playing a side that plays it.
And who does anymore?

5.) 09 Jan 2020 21:31:59
Howard that could well be the case.
Surely the powers that be must have known for months another striker is needed. no doubt forest as usual will leave it late. will we ever learn?

6.) 09 Jan 2020 22:20:55
More players will be signed in the last two days of the window as the desperate become desperate and reality sinks in, clubs who have strikers available will know the top six championship sides will want more firepower, so will ask a premium for their services, with ffp it becomes difficult to throw caution to the wind so nothing happens until the selling sides drop their demands.
when they see that they have a player earning millions that they don't want and the window is closing they will take what's on offer, so I wouldn't expect anything to happen unless it's a young loan player for now.
It's a game of bluff, but for once I would like to see us buy knowone in this window if they don't improve us.
Muric, mir, bostock, adhoma and ameobi have not improved us, the coach has however, so we got the most important signing right "THE COACH"

Ryan Yates. Wondering and hoping that this young man (20 and 6ft 3in) is in AT's thoughts for next season. Appears to have earned his chance from this season's performances at County and Scunny. We want experience but wouldn't it be great to also see another academy product in the squad and getting some game time. Gomis could also be following him!

Howard

1.) 02 May 2018 22:51:52
And Edser

2.) 02 May 2018 23:05:07
That’d be excellent and will prove that others should do the same schooling

3.) 02 May 2018 23:10:26
if they are good enough they are old enough 3 things we need are height, speed and strength

4.) 03 May 2018 09:41:52
John McGovern. Not tall, fast or strong. Played the game using his vision and awareness! For me the best to pull on the Garibaldi red!

5.) 03 May 2018 23:56:51
He wasn’t tall but never got skinned so his brain made up for his speed and he certainly wasn’t a weakling. Top man and a club legend no arguments.

Haven't managed a match yet but like most of you am extremely impressed with the new set up both on and off the field. However I am curious re the CB
positions. Does it look like MM and JW, and is DF injured again? It seems like MW has decided there must be a good pairing amongst those 5 including MM, and we don't need to spend money in this
position. Looks like good prudent management if he and Weir can sort them out.
Here's looking forward to some entertaining and successful football this season.

Howard

1.) 30 Jul 2017 13:05:12
MW has praised the work done by both McPharland, and Vrentzoz in sorting things out sice they joined the club.

Be realistic you moaners. Results are poor but in reality worst than our performances; and our manager has a big question mark against him, but the players seem to be with him. Add to that the cost and disruption of another managerial change.

There is no easy answer but I still believe DF has to be given more time. Too many fans live in cuckoo land, live on past glories, and take little count of injuries and the embargo restraint. Let's review again at the end of January and in the meantime give the team our full support.

Howard

1.) 25 Nov 2015 13:22:44
I new it wouldn't be long before someone said give DF more time, for what to get it right, he's had enough time its time for a new manager and its fans like you that are in cuckoo land, give him until january, when we will be rock bottom and in a dog fight to survive.

2.) 25 Nov 2015 13:34:20
ered
Your new manager would be?

3.) 25 Nov 2015 13:50:37
Anyone could do better than DF they defintely couldn't do any worse, Nigel Pearson seems to be a good shout and just look where Leicester are now, I think he has to take a lot of credit for that.

4.) 25 Nov 2015 13:55:10
Not bloody douggie freeman lol anybody but.

5.) 25 Nov 2015 14:08:34
ERED
I understand the frustration however, these are the facts:
Last season under Pearson after 17 games Leicester had 10 points, that is 7 less than Forest have now.
You say Pearson should take credit for where they are now?
To be fair you and a few others would have sacked him with that record would you not?

6.) 25 Nov 2015 19:18:22
Howard does Pearl know you are sending posts like that 🍷😊.

7.) 25 Nov 2015 22:47:20
how can five disagree to facts!
Is it one fact or all of them?
1, Under Pearson first 17 games and 10 points
2, 17-10=7
3, You wouldn't call for him being sacked

amazing.

{Ed003's Note - chill.}

It is so easy to criticise. We have 4 difficult matches in 11 days so need to involve the squad. Playing Janko at lb after the Derby performance was understandable. The defence was not the problem. Agree substitutions were surprising but give AK benefit of doubt and if Fig had not got injured pretty confident we would have seen Dias or Cash come on to try and provide more quality crosses. Disappointing and agree AK must take some of the blame but our attackibg 4/5 lacked quality on the day.

Agree give him another chance. Has very quick feet and under a new manager his potential may blossom. Hopefully he will be stronger on the ball by next season.

Don't like to our own youngsters move on but if the price and wages are right you can't blame either party. If there are sell on deals plus Newcastle pay their wages this season then it looks better. Also I wonder if SP's grand plan is to bring on Etimov for next season plus Mancienne at JL:'s replacement.

Let's be patient until we know the facts

Agree £8m good as long as hopefully sell on/England selection clauses included and, ideally, we can loan back for this season. Good luck to him.

Agree with most comments. A great tryer but not goalscorer who lost confidence last season. Best for both parties that he moves on and £1m+ would be a very good eal

Agree with views that money available will be well below that received for outgoing transfers. Surely our priorities are 2 midfielders, one a playmaker the other box tobix goal scorer (think Sow very overrated), a quick striker able to play with Grabban, and a left sided centre back. And hopefully a more attacking formation e.g 352.

Fully agree Retford Red, Watson is literally our kingpin. I’m being picky but to get us over the promotion line I think he needs supporting by two midfielders more likely to score than Silva and Sow and also one being more creative than Silva. I can only dream!

Ant sensible club won’t release borderline first teasers until very close to the transfer deadline in case their current first teasers get injured. Understandable so be patient for two more weeks!

We’re a third through our matches and we look good enough for the p,any offs, but no further unless we improve our attacking approach. Cavalho is so frustrating and often looks disinterested, weak and out of his depth. I would like to see Osborn in that number 10 role. A draw was a fair read exult but role on VAR!,

Agree with much of your comments Stokeyred. In this frustrating season there have been failings everywhere, on and off the pitch, at times.
However, as much as I respect and like Cohen, Vaughan and Osbourne as individuals, I think the most consistent shortcoming has been a midfield that lacks pace, strength and creative passing. Add the need for a really strong charismatic leader e. g. McKenna.
Sadly I think at least two of these three midfielders need replacing for next season.
