Solid goalie.
Consistent centre half pairing.
Build from the back is what most managers recommend and it looks like Lamouchi is doing this. I think we'll get better as the season goes on.

Totally agree with building from the back. Unfortunately last season we rarely had 2 centre backs fit to play consecutive games let alone 8 league games on the trot. Injuries make or break a season and we have had our fair share at right back already. Another injury in that position or Grabban and we will become a bit exposed. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it doesn't hamper another promising season.

If so you will have noticed Grabban was right back for the last few minutes so no worries in that position.

Yes I did go and yes Grabban did drop deeper but again square pegs in round holes. Can't win promotion doing that.

Grabban dropping deeper was a tactical move because Ameobi took a knock on his ankle just as we made our third substitute so he was pushed up front as he was struggling to run properly and we had no more subs.

MON didn't have the magic he had earlier in his career. It's no loss in my humble opinion. Preseason friendlies are for fitness and a try out of players. I think we'll be fine with a couple of signings.

In my opinion whatever you think of a manager there is a certain way of going about doing things, the way Martin was sacked and replaced within minutes was disgraceful.

Totally agree with that LC, I wouldn’t of been fussed had we sacked O’Neil at the end of the season and said thank u but we going to try something different but what’s happened on Friday is not the way i want my football club to act, where’s Randall in all this shouldn’t he be putting a statement out?

I agree with LC and arran. Not overly bothered about O'Neill losing his job but the underhand way we went about it doesn't sit right with me. A bit naughty.

Arran, the letters and statements stopped from the chairman pretty much after the Warburton saga, when 50% of the first one was totally contradicted.
Like you I’m not bothered O'Neil has gone. I didn’t want him in the first place but that’s more because I didn’t want Karanka to go.
Once O Neil landed I was happy enough with It and was looking forward to some stability. I brought into that stability, cunningly (it could be perceived) the club Wait until season tickets have been sold and activate one of the most bizarre sequences of events, even we have ever seen.
I brought into again this season not because I’m a super fan, because I’ve enjoyed the feel of the club and Karanaka and O Neil. The days out have been and I was genuinely looking forward to the season. So much so I was gutted when the fixtures came out as I was hoping we’d be away first game because of a clash with other commitments now I can’t be bothered with it.
So this manager will most likely be given a load more Mendes signings to work with. It’s challenging to see a different outcome to the previous seasons where we’ve trod this path. In fact we’ve looked more effective when we’ve done the opposite to the continental experiment. It seems to me the club are totally fixated with this approach and will keep rolling the manager dice until we find someone who can deliver with the players Mendes decides we are having.
Let’s be honest it’s not ever going to be overseas world beaters or they wouldn’t be coming would they?
Most we’ve had just can’t cut it in the championship. If that’s our direction our travel I’m finding it really difficult to see how this guy will do better than Montanier.
The managers fate depending on two things
1. Is Marinakis happy with the league position
2. Are the players feeding happy thoughts back to Mendes about the coach are Managers style.
Not sure if the two can ever coexist in all honesty.
We have to hold out hope that he can, with better and more modern coaching, get more from what he has. Carvalho and Ansafarid spring to mind.
In summary though where I end up with the events of the last 12 months is:
the hierarchy are definitely meddling in team affairs, the last two have been potted for challenging the list of potential signings.
They have argued their case for different players, there is only one outcome in a disagreement with Marinakis.
The manager will be constantly change if he can’t fix the problem with the tools that the hierarchy can afford and provide to fix it .
