Well, well Bowie, I thought we were leaving it there Saturday evening, but no, here we are bringing it up again.
This started with me asking the question why Sels gets beat on the six yard box then was on his knees for the second, your reply was try something positive, did I not then say I have reservations about him in every game, but it appears Mr Glasner agrees with me if he’s looking for a new keeper.
I will be very careful if I post again.
Crazy how some get away with criticising players on a regular basis without anyone questioning them.

1956 Sels has been great for us, but if errors start creeping into his game, he will be replaced in January. It's the Premier League, it's ruthless.

I don't think Sels made a mistake for either of Liverpool's goals imo. It's purely in the skillset of world class goal scorers and creators, which Liverpool have. It's what they do, despite the best efforts of any goalkeeper or defender. ?♂️

Glasner knows Henderson and must think he is a superior goalkeeper, otherwise this would not have come to light. That does not mean Sels is a poor goalkeeper at all. I like Og being able to make decisions, and being supported by Big M. So he was allowed to go for the players he wanted; it is just that he did not get them.
He did not want inferior players, just better ones. This is not like the past, when a whole group of players just came to the club, most of whom have now left. So, let Og do his job.

I think Henderson will come in January, but personally I don't think he's any better than Sels. Not much to choose between them. And, 1956, please don't disrespect Bowie, without him and the others this site wouldn't exist.

The second Liverpool goal took an upward deflection off of Murillo's boot. It's pretty hard to re-adjust at that range with that much power.
It was a hell of a strike.

Stevie and 56, I accept that Sels cost us a point against Leeds, but can either of you remember any other mistake he's made recently? He made 2 or 3 excellent saves, as he did against Liverpool. As I said, we tend to forget the other 99 times, because he's a goalkeeper. Nobody mentions Milenkovic's clumsy challenge that led to the free kick in the first place, do they? It's the goalkeeper's curse, last line of defence, always in the spotlight.
I don't see anyone calling for the Serbinator to be replaced.
Skeggs, "he's had one good season with us under Nuno"..... Sels only arrived in February 2024, mate. Come on, you've got to do better than that, mate. ???

Vale Red, I've met Bowie for a drink, good bloke, enjoyed his company, but this site managed to get by before he appeared on the scene: me, Skegs, Larry, DTP, Gold Stars, Carlo, Two Tone, Gazi, and apologies to anyone I've not listed, all pre-date him. Stevie, mate, don't get me wrong. As you say, the Premier League is a ruthless place and goalkeepers' form and errors made will be closely monitored.
Plus, OG will have been keeping an eye on the future.
Sels is 34, Hendo 29. I know goalkeepers last longer than outfield players, and some seemed to go on forever (like Navas and Lev Yashin back in the day), but time catches up with us all...

Bowie, Sels is a good shot stopper, he's weak on crosses, always has been, but he's the best we've got.
