Mackie teams up with Jay E Thomas at QPR.
Fast forward May 2016.

"30 goal frontmen Thomas & Mackie lead QPR charge to the Premiership".

Another Forest striker done good because we never played him with the right type of partner?

Mark my words we never learn!

I agree. I'd like to keep Mackie and would take Thomas in a heartbeat, I predict a huge season for him personally.

I disagree. Getting Mackie off the wage bill is a good move even if he does have a decent season with QPR. Redinexile, I'm assuming that Thomas will score at least 25 of the 30 goals you mention? Mackie is not prolific and never will be - he was being massively overpaid.

makie will get no more than 10 goals next season gives 100% but can't hit a barn door.

We need to build a team round a system, not buy individuals and hope they fit in.

25k a week. 1 in 6 strike rate. Slow, clumsy & can't finish. He argued with his own players & made glasses signs at the fans. We have 4 better wingers on our books & there's noting t suggest he could do anything down the middle.

Good riddance.

Well said Cjay, couldn't have put it better! Being honest Mackie has no X factor in his skill set. He couldn't put in a decent cross, his finishing was poor, and bar running up and down the wing there was nothing else to his game. As fans, we should all feel cheated given the salary he has been earning and delivered nothing of note to our team. I don't think we will miss him, it frees up a space for a better talent.

Gentlemen,

You are stuck in the Forest "goalfish" bowl!( except quiff+bsered).

Forest have never had a playing style since OBE. Mackie would have thrived with him. City Ground is a strikers graveyard.

Most of you cannot recognise talent when you see it because we have had a succession of managers who pick players not a team and then play them in the wrong postions.

Mackie has gone and joined a coach in Chris Ramsey who has a clear plan and will build a better team than Forest.

Not rose tinted specs Mackie has taken a pay cut to join a guy who he believes will get the best out of him!

Stop bleating about the wages certain players are on but focus on the idiots that pay the wages and are paid to manage them?

You lot moan about passion and commitment. Mackie had that and more and could clearly see others did not match his?

We lack leaders and he led by example! Not the best player in our colours but always gave 100%

If DF loses Tesche as well we are staring relegation down the barrel as he will not attract better footballers to this club and will be found out by October.

His goal per game ratio is shocking throughout his career. Reading played him up front most of the season and he scored 6 goals. so I think it would take Jose to get him to be prolific!!!

If we need to save money then him moving on is good business. Until league starts we cannot say if we are really relegation or promotion candidates.

I'm not a fan of DF but will hope for the best

Redinexile, Can you honestly say when you watched Mackie play for us you think he gave us a wow factor? I'm afraid QPR has sold everyone a puppy with Mackie. They vastly overpaid for him in the first place, put him on massive wages, and I'm afraid he's just a very average player. The Mackie and Cox partnership did not work for us, and it didn't work at Reading either. He was paid a fortune in wages and just wasn't worth the money. I am not surprised to hear he has taken a pay cut, other clubs seeing what he has done have now realised he isn't worth 25k a week! My only regret is seeing QPR get him for free, and us not being able to claw any money back on him. That is somewhat galling.

{Ed001's Note - has he not agreed to hand in a transfer request, so negated the need to pay up his contract you would have to do if he was sold? I was told that he did so to get the move to go through, because paying up his contract could amount to millions, especially as the initial signing on fee is usually paid in segments throughout the length of the contract. When Joe Cole left Liverpool on a free, it cost them £3m to pay off his final year of the contract, just to give an idea of how much it could be worth. I know Mackie would probably be on half of Cole's wages at Liverpool, with a smaller signing bonus, but it would be over £1m for each year left on his contract that the club would save.}

Redinexile never mentioned wow or X factor nor did he say he's the best player but what he is saying about mackies passion and commitment is spot on.he would run himself into the ground every game for the shirt and the wages he is being paid.yes he's not the best but we need more players who will put themselves through it for the team/club and fans.he was one of them.talk of him arguing was probably because he was putting all the effort in whilst some sacked it off.if your at work and you have someone who does sod all and you do all the graft would you not say anything?
Fans saying his goal ratio is crap maybe that's because he has played most his last few years out wide and had a season at qpr in the prem when they were rubbish and not scoring much.

He had passion yes, but to me he looked clumsy and had no nous in terms of positioning. We've got youngsters who have more skill.

But they have no experience.mackie knows what the game is all about been there and done it.
I'm not saying he's the best as he isn't but you can't fault his passion and commitment when he played.which we was lacking last season.

Not worth the money. How will our youngsters gain the "experience" they need if we don't give them time on the Championship pitch? Forget the Mackies, Tesches, Radis and seasoned championship professionals, we need a new start with a proper system and the right players in the right places. Blood our youngsters and develop them in the team. Because of FFP we can't really do anything else!

13 goals in 80 odd games for Forest and Reading.Even if you say playing out wide Antonio has just bettered that in half the games.
Glad to get him off the wage bill, would rather Oliver Burke get more game time.
