A good point tonight, much ado about nothing! I think Torvill and Dean would have struggled to stay upright on that pitch. I like Pants in goal but one day he's going to get an unnecessary card for delaying too long on goal kicks! I see Watson got carded for delaying a free kick!

These are just unnecessary bookings. Also, I know Brereton is still very young and learning (from what everyone keeps saying) but I don't know why a professional footballer who does nothing but play football for a living, rests and trains cannot hit a target that is 24 feet wide! And that goes for others too! And I'm fed up hearing from pundits and others that the reason a player shot wide was because it was on his weaker foot!

You practice both feet! It was good enough for Pele so why not all the rest. Anyway, rant over. Oh and yes as Robertson mentioned earlier, the Ref tonight was a Homer! I reckon he got a bonus from Delia along with some secret recipes. Let's get Tomlin back for the sheep on Sunday! COYR!

Football is definitely a funny old game! there hasn't been too much to get excited about this season, but the main thing I can see is that confidence is the key to this team, as I know it is to every team of course. Those couple of good results when GB was interim manager against Leeds and Arsenal (draw and win) was the same team MW had playing for him. GB knows these players best and has their respect I'm sure.

We then saw that great result against Wolves with AK in charge early on. I'm sure AK like most observers saw how we easily get dispossessed of the ball and decided to take the opportunity in the transfer window to get some players in that he thought could do a better job. Now with all the changes and still more defeats the confidence has really slumped! Let's hope our manager has at least got a plan B for this.

Lets be clear Gary Brazil is not the answer. We played Arsenal youth with Forest youth. He had nothing to lose and yes knows a lot about the players. He did not tear up any trees as interim manager the last time. Let him do whst he does best with the academy. .

My post wasn't about GB and how he should be the manager (again), it was more to do with trying to work out what motivates our players on the pitch. I agree Rutland, GB didn't tear up any trees last time he was in full charge, and I did mention that away win at Wolves also when AK was the boss so regardless of which manager is in control our old crop of players (before the January transfers happened) did manage the odd good performance! So we know they can perform when they press hard and work as one unit it is more down to consistency and confidence. Admittedly though, some of our players were too lightweight and getting brushed off the ball too easily.

Well after that somewhat lacklustre performance we move onto the Luton game. We lose that and I feel it's bye bye Premier League! Will I be sad, yes of course, but I won't miss the absolutely terrible refereeing and the abysmal VAR.

I seriously don't think if they had given a red card we still wouldn't have scored! I think Origi is destined for great things in the NFL, he can be the kicker in any of their teams. Danilo for me makes too many stray passes. He needs to almost take a breath before passing. However, he has cost us in the past.

We haven't scored in the last three games now. To me, I don't think we have enough bodies in the box to make it count. Look at the chance Wood had, keeper palms it across but no Red shirt anywhere near to tap in.

We need way more fight and attacking spirit if we are to stay up.

A bit harsh to lose at the last minute but again, don't try to play the ball out our guy should have put his laces through and kicked the ball into the stands.

Getting themselves mixed up between the two Forest players and the ball goes in and they score. Clear the effin ball out of play into the stands.

A good performance altogether and shame to be undone like that. If Elanga had his shooting boots on it might have ended differently.

I agree, clearing from the defence, if the ball goes over the halfway line he blows. The ball should have gone in the Trent!.

Besides the first three goals for Villa, that fourth just pisses me off. A giveaway again trying to pass out from the back. Just hoof it up the pitch, kick it out the ground anything but that. Get it away from danger! Too many times I see that. Disgraceful! Players should be fined for doing that. Talk about shooting yourselves in the foot! So disappointing.

Especially when we were within touching distance!

I really don't know what to make of that.

That goal by Toney was absolutely bloody cheating and VAR did nothing! Also what the heck was Tavares doing?! He should have joined the wall and created an extra man on that wall.

We were done by a replica goal last time Toney played and we get done again! Absolute disgrace from both sides!

acan

Not cheating. Being clever.

2.) 21 Jan 2024 16:38:05
First I was wrong identifying Tavares for the wall I meant to say Hudson Odoi should have stepped into the wall as he was marking no one and all he did was stick out a leg half heartedly when the free kick was taken. He could have closed that gap.

Mohammed - are you Toney in disguise! That was blatant cheating. IT thought it was being clever, but he’s a disgrace to the game. What if he had a penalty instead! Would he have been allowed to move the ball sideways by a couple of feet? No he wouldn’t.

It was a poor goal all round. No complaints from the Forest players, no observation from the ref and worst of all no interruption from that stupid VAR setup! And don’t get me started about our goalkeeper with that free kick.

Another fantastic win and well done to the team and staff for some great work over the holiday period.

Again, far more creative chances in one game than I have witnessed in the last month! I was hoping that we would have taken advantage of their poor showing a little more as I thought at times we gave them too much respect. Still a little showing of the past low block but way better than the past.

I'm hoping that confidence will grow over the next month.

I don't know what it is about playing out from the back but boy does it give me the creeps! I watched one of the best at doing it the other day (Man City) and even they looked like they were going to lose the ball to some high press.

Anyway, onward and upward COYR!

Totally agree Rogie. I don’t know if he is showing the fire and passion behind the scenes but he doesn’t fill me with confidence not like the other managers you mentioned. Hey each person is different I suppose but it would give me a little more confidence knowing the manager is like the 12th man.

RF I was literally going to post the same thing about Luton and read your post first. I totally agree with you, I am watching Luton at Newcastle and seeing how they press in both halves but especially in attack they get forward in numbers and are way more effective than us. I saw the way they dominated Brighton the other week and had won the game by half time just by pressing Brighton and being more ‘up’ for the game looking hungry for the ball.

It pains me to say, but I think Luton will stay up and if we don’t change, we will go down. We have to change our style of play because this counter attack approach letting teams come on to us does not seem very effective. We seem disjointed in attack and I don’t see a lot of bodies getting into the danger zones in attack.

I hear ya Dreamon. It always seems to be about the so called 'big six' with the rest of the teams making up the numbers. I recall when Forest were back in the top flight under the great Brian Clough and him telling the TV presenter when will you lot appreciate that we are a good side. Bob Wilson saying that Forest are a bubble that will soon burst when they were top of the league in October 1977.

It seems like some referees want to scupper our chances in the top flight too.

For sure Munmad. A goalkeeper can only do so much. I was just thinking back to previous game. Lot of pressure on one man, I’m sure it’s hard for a keeper to get down so quickly and keep the ball. Navas certainly one of the better players today.
