I was lucky enough to be invited to a training season. I'll be honest with you all in blew most of the theories on this sit including my own completely out of the water.
There was a sense of togetherness in the group, no divisions could be seen all were having banter.
They were well drilled by BE & SW.
Stuart Pearce was participating in the training season marshalling the defence, mentoring the younger defenders.
They all put the effort in and commitment and passion was shown by all.
We also had the opportunity to talk to and ask questions to Paul Faulkner & Lalou, both of them could speak any higher of the hard work and commitment the Pearce has put in, in creating the inferstructure of the club.
The steps that Pearce has taken to reunite the club as a unit was very clear to see.
Lalou, said that Fawaz is extremely happy with what Pearce is doing for the club. But disappointed with the results.

If that's the case then Trickie, what does this tell you about the club? The other question I'd like to ask is how many younger players like Laing, Viera etc. were at the session and what part did they play?

2.) 27 Jan 2015
We had the same invite before Xmas trickie and I would not disagree with any of your comments regarding training, togetherness, effort and coaching etc. This leaves me with one conclusion. Some of the players just aren't good enough !

3.) 27 Jan 2015
I watch with interest the pre match routine overseen by SW. One or two touch posession football in a tight circle whilst being hussled by your opponent.

I never see this being replicated in games!

Despite what you report, some theories remains in tact.

SP starts every game with a preoccupation of how the opposition is going to play, a reluctance to over commit allowing the opposition to gain the initiative & confidence to push forward. We are a goal down before SP has worked out the best shape to play.
You can't teach that in training. International U21 football is pedestrian & more time is allowed to make decisions, not so the championship.

Cjay that sounds just like what sod use to do and people want him back!lol

5.) 27 Jan 2015
You cannot read too much into a training session, especially an open one. I sometimes go to watch a small local team train and all looks well with friendly banter and hard work. Come matchday though players arguing with each other and no dicipline!

I know you want SP out Cjay, or you don't believe he's any good as a manager, but my view is that both he and the youngsters are trying to learn what is needed on the pitch with each different team they play against. He's in a learning situation and I'm prepared to wait till he has learned what he needs to do, even if it costs us.

7.) 27 Jan 2015
Bsered: Never once shouted for the head of the manager, my last few posts have highlighted why we should think long & hard before sacking him!! Your drawing your inaccurate conclusions from my criticism of his managerial approach which, for the record, is always substantiated with an opinion as to where he falls short backed up by a suggestion as to how it could be addressed. Some people just can't take the truth. Better that than simply accept our manager " is trying to learn what is needed on the pitch with each different team we play against". You make him sound like someone whos won the job in a raffle!
I think we will beat Millwall
I think we will beat Brighton
I think we will beat Blackpool
This should give SP 15 games to prove he can do this job.
Then look at it at the end of the season.
Hopefully this is clear enough to prevent the inevitable posters that only surface to gloat when we win a game.

{Ed003's Note - fair reply that.}

8.) 27 Jan 2015
Draw against milwall
Loose against Brighton
And beat Blackpool.

9.) 27 Jan 2015
I think you are being generous, lose against millwall, lose against brighton, and draw against blackpool. that's what I see happening

10.) 28 Jan 2015
Edit that:
Beat Millwall
Beat Wigan
Beat Blackpool

I feel the results against those three may be a mixed bag, as we are still a work in progress.

12.) 28 Jan 2015
Millwall, Wigan & Blackpool are all as bad as each other. League positions never lie & they point to these 3 teams as being the weakest. If you predict a win against one, surely you would predict a win against them all? I don't get the logic behind a mixed bag of results?

13.) 28 Jan 2015
Cjay, of course it could be a mixed bag of results! This is football and it is just other peoples' predictions on what the results might be. Just because these teams are all at the bottom of the table doesn't necessarily mean that they all have the same playing style and that they will all be equally bad on the day when we play them. Who would have thought that we would beat Derby and Wolves away but lose at home to Birmingham and lose at Rochdale? I would call this a mixed bag of results.

14.) 28 Jan 2015
Rob44- Take your point about the extenuating circumstances, but are we really looking into it that deeply? Its a sad indictment on how you perceive us when we can't foresee home victories against
1 win in 15 Millwall
1 win in 15 Wigan
And away at
2 wins in 15 Blackpool.
You are effectivley pitching us with these second rate teams & conceding we are in a relegation battle. The 15 games that follow are much more difficult.

Derby, Bournemouth and Ipswich have all lost recently. Fulham were awful at the beginning of the season. In this league anyone seems able to beat anyone else. All I'm saying is it's unpredictable.

16.) 28 Jan 2015
Forest: 3 wins in 20. Suggests they will be close games. :-(

17.) 28 Jan 2015
Cjay, I totally agree that it is a sad situation and I would love to feel confident that we will beat these teams. The truth is that I am less confident about beating the teams near the bottom of the table than I was a few months ago.
I also believed that we would beat Birmingham, Sheff Wed, Rochdale, Charlton, Brentford, Blackburn, Brighton etc etc but we didn't. I did not expect us to beat Derby or Wolves away, it is very hard to predict. All I know is that come Saturday I am hoping for a win rather than expecting one.

Looking at the recent form of the three teams you mention, ours is not a lot better really is it?

18.) 29 Jan 2015
Just to refresh your memories we are generally rubbish when it comes to playing the so called"lesser teams" look at past seasons results.

We need to be collecting 10 points from our next 4 games tall order I think.
