I’ll rewatch the game later on Forest TV. I can’t add much to the perceptive and accurate comments already posted on here except a couple of points….
We have a good goalkeeping department. Ortega was faultless last night, kept us in it and will push Sels for Sunday's game (although I think Sels will still be first choice). Our big lad Angus at 3rd choice shows we have depth in this area.
Like Steve Hodge last night, and seeing repeats, I still don’t understand why our goal was chalked off. The fact that VAR took a long, long time to decide tells you everything.
Porto are a very good team and definitely were, overall, better than us last night. I saw them at the City Ground when we beat them 2 nil in Dyche's first game and I thought the same. A good result for us on both occasions.
We have a slight edge over Villa for Sunday's game recovery wise.
Ok we’ve both had 3 weeks off but Villa went strong last night and made late subs ie 80th minute then 2 on 88. All their players put a shift in against a Bologna side that, like Porto, were very good, according to reports. Unlike us, though, Villa have put their tie to bed so that will be a boost for them.
Looking forward to Sunday. Tonight, I will be a Wolves fan but I think West Ham will beat them and Spurs will get a new manager bounce against Sunderland. Leeds away at Man Utd Monday. So, 7 games to go and they’re all cup finals. We can only look to our own performances….
Incidentally, I thought it was indicative of how good a coach VP and how well he respected in the numerous teams he’s managed. I read somewhere that he holds the record for win percentages at Porto, beating even Morinho. Coyr!

Hi Stokey, Keith Hackett, former PGMOL boss and FIFA ref, has stated that the goal was a good goal and should not have been chalked off. He said that the goalkeeper came for the ball, didn't get it under control, threw himself to the floor, and watched Jesus score. Another poor decision by a ref and VAR!

That's exactly how it happened!!!

I think it was the knee to the head that did it.

Anyway, I'm not complaining. We were more than lucky with a draw. COYR.

That's how I saw it too. I've seen it numerous times now. The ball was in the net before the keeper made any feigned injury to his head. VAR checked the supposed handball numerous times too.
I've said before, many times, that VAR should be there for the obvious blooper by the ref, not reasons to disallow.
Last night he gave the goal before Porto's players made a fuss around him. Should have stayed (like cricket) with the on-field decision, as per umpire's call.

Not many posters have said how well our second 11 did to keep Porto at bay. It shows that Bakwa, Ndoye, Mactee and Abbott just need game time to show us their talents. Abbott made some very good interceptions, and Ndoye and Bakwa were more than adequate wing-backs against a very good attacking side. Agreed, it took 15 mins to settle, and that own goal deflated Porto a bit. I didn't agree with Steve Hodge saying we got away with murder.
Mactee gets better each time he plays, and has a good shot on him. Yatesy was disappointing, and Wood - what do you expect. I accept I am a fan of Tiawo and do know he couldn't play in this tie; however, he would have been a better player to bring on than Jesus. I suspect Jesus will start on Sunday, with Wood coming on as required.

Wouldn't really agree on cupoftea, as Balloons calls him. Bakwa had a great game for me. Yatesy was, well, erm, typical Yatesy. If only he could get the ball more. He still put a shift in.
Ortega was brilliant. Abbott had a decent game. It was the line of defence. Worrying, to say the least. MGW was very quiet. Don't let pundits get to ya, Nuno. We all have our own views.

If you look on live chat, you'll find there was a lot of praise for our so-called second string, Nuno. Cupoftee is still massively letting down his potential, imo. 30 million for a player who was supposed to be fantastic, according to the Messiah (insert sarcastic tone), Pep.
If they come in for Anderson, we should include a clause that they have to buy Cupoftee back for 40 million. 10 million compensation for pulling our pants down. ?
