Rumor: Nottingham Forest ready fresh £25m Jean-Philippe Mateta

The Frenchman is out of contract in June 2027 and the Eagles are looking to cash in on him ahead of next term, with a new deal still looking unlikely.



Mateta’s price tag has now dropped down to the £25million mark, and sources say that Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is prepared to back Vitor Pereira to fund the addition of a new frontman.

He is a strong game-changer. We have to move on Kalimuendo most likely, and maybe Awoniyi, although he looked very solid at the end of the season. He could be a good squad and cup player. Having Wood, Mateta, and Jesus is a very solid forward line. I still think we need some serious pace on the wing, and another CB.

Mateta always looks a handful when I've seen him play. Big, strong, and quick, he'd be a great replacement for Woody, who's not getting any younger.
I think Woody has the edge on him as a finisher and goal scorer?

I don't know, Cyclist. It was a genuine question, seeking clarification. Does "Not a chance" mean Mateta won't be arriving at Forest, or that Woody is a better finisher?
