The Fickle Finger of Forest Fans and Fate!
Here are some stats over the last 7 seasons to put our performance so far into perspective
2014. After 20 games Forest 29 points Top Team 38 points. Compared to:-
2013- 32 /42 points. Finished 11th
2012- 29/ 41 points. Finished 8th
2011- 20/ 42 points. Finished 19th
2010 -27 / 41 points. Finished 6th
2009 -33 / 45 points. Finished 3rd
2008- 16 / 47 points. Finished 19th
Despite all the moaning and groaning from FFF the team are in good shape compared with our better seasons. Despite a new manager we have for the first season in 7 a well balanced, deep squad, stability off the field and unlike previous seasons a league where no teams are dominating the top two positions.
So to all you FFF’s stop moaning and get behind SP and the team as we can only get stronger as the season progresses. Unless the injury fate intervenes again on the run in which case blame the pitch or the curse of Scottish managers!

So despite major investment over the past two years with a stronger squad and higher expectations as a whole, we are in fact no further forward and in most cases worse off than we have been in previous seasons.

Nothing to be disappointed about there then. Well illustrated, mate :)

I spend £250. 00 on each of my kids at Christmas and have done for the last 10 years. Had a decent win on the horses earlier this year so this year going to splash out £500 on each. That should tell you all you need to know about stats. Furthermore we are weak at left back, struggling for cohesion throughout & our 3 star players are on the treatment table, these stats don't help with that either.

I'm staggered at how short sighted some people are. before Pearce came in there were stories all over the place dragging is through the mud and making us a laughing stock. since Pearce has come in those stories have disappeared and he and his staff has started to put In place what should of been there in the first place. the youth have started doing well now and apart from (he couldn't help this) the ffp part we are all rosy. new CEO and a feel good factor. this could of been the season for us but doing all that work and then trying to get the results was always going to be a struggle.
We need to steady that ship and keep a manager in for longer than 5 months at a time, otherwise we will be going round in circles.
I won't be posting on here anymore till the season has ended as there is too much moaning and negativity. i will be back at the end so we can debate what's happened, weather I was right or wrong I will hold my hands up.
All I'm saying is give it a chance and who knows what will happen.

A good youth policy, new CEO and better PR is nothing more than a bonus from your average fans perspective. If your asking them to sacrifice results on the pitch to get it, then you need to re-consider who is being short sighted here.

5.) 09 Dec 2014
In ONE case it's worse!

6.) 09 Dec 2014
I mean better! Sorry, it's been a long day!!

7.) 09 Dec 2014
I'm not a 'moaning fan' I consider myself quite realistic. I agree with the sentiment of the opening thread but I don't believe the stats back up that sentiment very well. That's all :)

For lots of us OAP fans time is ticking,5year plans, 2year settling in time , what next wait for the youth policy to bear fruit , we might never see the prem. again,we must be the biggest club to be away from the big time for so long 16 seasons coming up I was relatively young back then as they say time is tight!
CARLO

9.) 09 Dec 2014
Ok Carlo what's the answer then?

10.) 10 Dec 2014
Has anyone mentioned that the top team this year is at least 3 points worse off than all the other seasons named? It will be a lot closer than most years, all to play for.

We need to settle on our best side & run with it for a sustained period of time so as to build up an mutual understanding. Then use the second half against Charlton as the blueprint for our style of play for the full 90 mins. Stick with Fox at left back, Lose Osborn & Lansbury from the midfield and put Vaughn Holding & Tesche as the creative midfielder. Antonio & Burke out wide. Assombalonga and Fryatt or Pato just behind. Play it from the back and on the floor. Take the armband of Mancienne & give it to Tesche. We need a leader in the middle of the park. Go with this until Jan if we are not under embargo or until Reidy returns. I don't play FIFA 15 by the way, its just an honest opinion of where I think we should go from here.

Statistics - the art of lying and proving it.

Unfortunately in football everyone has an opinion. Facts go out the window when opinions come in. What we can say is that yes we have injuries but the counter point to that is that we are meant to have a stronger squad than last year. If we can get momentum we can climb the table howver if we fail to find form we will fall down it.

My point is simple you can play the same game and same team and same formation on the same day in the same conditions and still acheive a different result each time. The difference is that Stuart Pearce will have extra time and has an advantage over the other managers we have previously had, including Billy Davies because he is a legend.
Do I think he's a good manager?
Yes.
Do I think he will get us promoted?
Yes.
Will he get us up this year?
No.
Do I think he will need time to make us a force?
Yes.
Am I a fickle person?
Yes.

Only stat that matters is league position at the end of the season. Not good now so need to do better in second half of the season. Get key players fit and playing or strengthen in Jan.
