Evening Duty Ed. Please accept my heartfelt apology for my outburst on Banter yesterday. As you know, I am not in the habit of doing this - however last night a certain poster lit my fuse and I duly exploded.

I'm very glad that you deleted the 'Uncle Albert' post that followed my description of my family's continual service in the Army going back to 1880. IMO, those two words derided the service, and the numerous physical and mental health sacrifices that my ancestors have been through.

Surely, that comment was not funny in anyone's sphere of humour. As you are all probably aware - I'm not a 'shrinking violet'. Any of you can call me whatever you want and I'll probably laugh at it. But you deride my family's service and sacrifice for this country and I will react.

I would like a personal apology from that poster. However, I am not holding my breath on this as I don't think he is man enough to say sorry.

I'll leave it there. Sorry Eds.

You're right Ed033. But the 'intent' and implication is that Uncle Albert was a boring sod always going on about 'when I was in the war'.

I certainly wasn't doing that - I was showing my pride for the 150 years that my family has, with no break in the family tree, served this country continuously in the British Army going back to the 1st Boer War.

Everyone can make their own minds up on this. Personally, I thought the comment was disrespectful to everyone who has served and died fighting for this country.

Well, I did envisage that you two would jump on the bandwagon with this. Along with Larry, are you all somewhere 'on the spectrum' to not even being able to relate to others' feelings? If so, I feel sorry for you all.

'Far too serious'? I make no apology for protecting the legacy of my family from you vultures. When you experience family members dying, having limbs ripped off them, ending up on the streets begging after trench warfare - all of this from serving OUR COUNTRY - is that 'too serious'?

It's not really taking the piss, though, is it, Legolas. I mean, you're always going on, and, as you say, taking the piss out of Stokies' long comments. If you look at the thread underneath, when you put a long comment in, you said I sound like Stokie now.

Because it's a certain poster, you've made it into a massive thing. Wow, if we had to apologise every time a poster called each other Pan the Gardner, and the nicknames me and another poster are called, this would be called the Forest Apologies site.

As you know I'm with you on this one Lego.
There's an old saying that empty vessels make the most noise. The posters we are talking about are only matched in their toxicity by their staggering ignorance.
They have openly driven off many posters from this site by their aggression, attention seeking and mutual arrogance.

In the Police, we used to call them "people haters". They hate their country, hate society and, deep down, they hate themselves. Like yourself, I'm no shrinking violet and can look after myself. I pride myself on being tolerant and patient, But that's ended after this.

I want to make it clear that, like the history man in the club, ( who probably had more intelligence in his little finger than these 3 have in total) I will not be wasting my time with replies to their ludicrous posts.
