As far as next years Prem is concerned, there is hope from other teams problems imo
Everton will continue to struggle financially ( which equates to their best players like Branthwaite being sold to balance the books), Leicester will have some FFP issues to deal with, Ipswich will have the same disadvantages we had on promotion after many years away and I can see them becoming the new Luton ie plenty of team spirit but not much quality wise. Both Southampton and Leeds have ongoing issues in rebuilding for the Prem, in fact if Leeds don't get promoted they could face financial meltdown.
Of course there's always the prospect of justice catching up with Manchester City and Chelsea finally πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
I think if we can keep our noses clean, with 2 or 3 quality signings rather than the 20 or 30 largely mediocre ones we have a good chance of mid table.

This is where Nuno carries on working whilst the rest of us are thinking about holidays and cool beers friends.
My " to do " list for Nuno.

Firstly, he has the basis of a mid table Premiership squad. He should fight tooth and nail to keep Sels, Aina ( contract extended already great news), Neco, Toff, Boly ( if the medics think we can get another season or two out of him), Yates, Niakhate, Murillo, MGW, CHO, Elanga, Woody, Taiwo, Danillo, Dominquez there's 15 as a starter.

Secondly, decisions on Worrall, McKenna, Mbe Soh, Panzo, Ribeiro, O Brien, Bowler, Tavares, Omar Richards, Obamidele Reyna and the rest of the on loan ghost squad. See what we can salvage. Also see what Sanghere can do he could be a valuable asset. If he doesn't want to be here get rid.

Thirdly (and this has started already) get rid of Kouyate, Arter, Felipe (legend) Turner, Vlach, Hennessy, Montiel Origi wtc

Fourthly, buy or loan a big aerially dominant Centre back, a good Navas or Henderson type goalkeeper, a back up striker as cover for Taiwo and the ageing Woody.

Lastly strongly advise the owner not to indulge in FFP shenanigans, causes too much uncertainty and unnecessary extra pressure. Also tell him we should learn to walk before we can run. The system is corrupt and unfair but it is what is and we have to roll with the punches. No more off field distractions, let's do our talking on the pitch.

Was Charles Penrose corrupt Stokey, I remember reference to a half’s crown?
CARLO πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ€.

21 May 2024 15:37:13
It's Montiel that bothers me, Stokey. There is a good player in there. Again, like Sangare it is all in the head. Is he with us just having a holiday in England? If a good coach got hold of him, they could develop his dark arts repertoire, his forward play, and please stop him looking like he is playing in a friendly? He does look like he has scared a few people in alleyways, even with the lights on. Worth another year?

Murrilo can play CB LB LM and DM personally if Sangare doesn't work out I'd play him DM great tackler great pass on him gets forward well his only weakness to me is aerial duels

Keep him MGW CHO and Elanga for me the one to go Awoniyi for 25m.

21 May 2024 14:37:54
Murillo could play box to box alongside a DM. And the naysayers are talking out of their backsides. Good players CAN change position - Murillo has all the attributes of a top midfield player.

I can see us making only one or two signings- and perhaps they may be loans. Arter, Hennessy, Felipe and Kouyate ate out of contract and leave as free agents. Aina has been offered a new deal and I hope Boly has too. All the dross loans are returning to their parent clubs so that’s a good thing. Just need to get rid of a couple more keepers, perhaps Worrall but to be fair I would keep him. McKenna also a free agent. Our wage bill should come down quite a bit but not much money will be raised through transfers unless one or two of our better players are sold. Not too sure what’s happening with Mangala has he left permanently?

I think we could see a few big out goings, MGW, Murillo and Hudson-Odoi are the players being talked about already, could be more? Hope not.

Agree1 0Disagree

21 May 2024 15:23:47
Hope not Daz, we only got 36 points with them in the squad, dread to think what we would get if our best players are sold.

By the way, with reference to Dunkirk ( and with the 84th anniversary of that incredible 9 days coming up this weekend) I must make mention of one of my all time heroes of WW2 Admiral Sir Bertram Ramsey who planned the evacuation from a network of tunnels in the cliffs underneath Dover Castle.
A quiet man, brought out of retirement by. Churchill at the start of the war, he is usually effaced in history by the Monty's, the Eisenhowers and the Pattons. Not only did he plan the evacuation but also the landings in Sicily from North Africa and D day itself in 1944. Killed in a plane crash in France in January 1945 so he never saw the end of the war.
There is a statue of him in the grounds of Dover Castle and I commend a visit to the tunnels if you are in the area.

Well, comrades, a couple of remarks on the season just gone.
When you compare the stats from SC s season last year they are very similar
2022 23
Played 38, won 9, drawn 11 Lost 18 Points 38 GF 30 GA 68 good minus 38
2023 24 played 38 won 9 Drawn 9 Lost 20 points 32 ( plus 4 deduction)36 GF 49 GA 67 good minus 18
So no progress but no real advance despite a lot of money thrown at it.

Secondly, looks like we have done another Dunkirk, a miracle escape despite a disastrous campaign. Of course I'm not comparing the heroism and sacrifice of the men from 26th May to 4 th June 1940 with a game of football but I think you will take my point. However, as Churchill said " though a miracle it should not be dressed up in the attributes of a great victory. Wars are not won by evacuations ".

My predictions in the run up to the finish were generally correct. I predicted Forest would finish on 34 points ( actually 32 but I believed we would get 2 points back on appeal).
I said Burnley and Sheffield Utd wouldn't get another point and would be relegated by the time we played them. Burnley actually got one point courtesy of Onanas eccentricities in the 88 th minute of a match Man Utd controlled.
I said Luton would finish on 30 points but they only managed 26 and rather fell in a heap by the end.
So relieved but I'd appreciate a bit more progress. But with all the deluge of Mr M s mistakes ( none of them the fault of Nuno, though he was guilty of mistakes ie Niakhate at left back at Villa, strange late substitutions and a record number of points lost from winning positions due to tactical errors) for example no pre season and no mid season break to work with his squad, poor scattergun recruitment, entirely avoidable points deductions, distractions with Clattenburg and off field issues etc.
So, we go again in a few months but first I'm going to recover by going on my holidays, firstly to Corfu where I will toast my glorious Reds and the many excellent posters on here, marshalled into some sort of order by our well informed and patient Editors. πŸ‘πŸ‘

I will pen some thoughts on next season shortly for what they are worth friends.

That's eight players gone including Montiel. Starting to clear the decks, Aina contract extended which is good news. More to leave hopefully. Need to be ruthless this time around.

Absolutely sick to the back teeth of our star players being linked with Spurs. Now it's CHO apparently. MGW, CHO, who next.

I tell you what though, if we sell our best players and either bring in dross to replace them. or not replace them at all. then I'm done. We always seem to commit self destruction this way. Learn from the history of the club. And don't make the same mistakes.

21 May 2024 12:44:22
As I’ve said before keep the players and take the points penalty, why should we make the top six better off. Time to stand up to the establishment.

Hopefully this will provide some banter/ debate! I think we should sell Murillo. Whilst a brilliant player with the ball on the ground he is awful in the air. IMO, given Forest's weaknesses at set-pieces I think we should cash-in now and go for a solid, tall CB instead who can actually defend when the ball is in the air. I think bring back our team captain who fits this bill and would also provide us with some much-needed leadership on the pitch. This should sort FFP for next season if we spend wisely on other players, including a quality CF. I think that if we did the above whilst keeping hold of CHO, MGW and Elanga we could really kick-on next season.

Worrall isn't a prem player, spends more time on his ass than in the air.

Murrillo all day long mate, he's only 21, and can only get better.

21 May 2024 05:04:22
Couldn't agree more legover, Morillo is hopeless in the air. Been saying it all season and getting slaughtered for it. Although a decent player on the floor, he's nothing special. I would keep him though unless silly money came in. He sort of a Kenny Burns type (Although nowhere near as good ) and needs a Larry Lloyd at the side of him but that ain't flat footed Worrall 🎈.

21 May 2024 06:55:37
"Decent? ". Nearly scored twice from the halfway line, almost scored a wo der goal v Palace, cleared of the line (with his head), can play out from the back. and has a brilliant range of passing, pace to burn. nuff said mate.

Iegless if we have to sacrifice someone it’s Murillo for Me. Mgw, cho and elnaga can give us the edge against lots of teams, I believe we are in deep trouble if we break that up. Nonissue with Murillo but I think we could find a replacement who can do a job, much harder to build an effective forward line.

Murrillo is one of the Premierships brightest prospects and some want to sell because β€˜ He’s nothing special’.

There really are some deluded people or extremely high achievers to pen such nonsense.

Agree2 0Disagree

21 May 2024 15:51:27
Apart from his pace, strength, passing and shooting ability, reading of the game I like the fact that he always plays with a smile on his face. I’m sure the Prem will soon knock that out of him but it’s refreshing to see a footballer with such an attitude.

Relegation odds next season, Forest 2/1 - 4 th, not as bad as I thought although what Everton have done to deserve their position I don't know. Hopefully we will finish higher than this, but so I expect will Leicester (4/9 favs for relegation) and Everton (10/11 - 2nd) be. Ipswich (1/1 - 3rd) may be another Sheffield United. Maybe if they don't do well and Nuno is a Nono, Kieran McKenna our next manager.

20 May 2024 22:27:30
According to the press cooper to Norwich they say it would be a good fit and I totally agree Norwich the yo-yo team Cooper's will get them up and bring them back down over and and over again 😁.

Ipswich for forest?

Because - I think Ipswich will struggle like Luton. Where as Forest if they keep the likes of Murillo and MGW will not be relegated!
