Gus Poyet it is then! Invited guest today did manage AK Athens but failed in China and Spain recently so not inspirational.

doc m

1.) 07 Jan 2018 11:32:49
He won't be the manage just because he's been ivited doesn't mean he has the job tony adams was there a few weeks ago as a vip he's not even been mentioned.

23 Dec 2017 08:42:05
Any Reason why we are Linked with Steve Naismith a right winger with injury problems? However he is Scottish!

doc m

1.) 23 Dec 2017 09:24:49
Injury problems? Scottish? A position we don't really need to strengthen? Why wouldn't we be interested in him? Sounds a perfect fit (no pun intended) for us.

2.) 23 Dec 2017 11:15:33
And if we are looking to move some of the old sick notes on, we need new injury prone players to replace them. .

3.) 23 Dec 2017 12:43:43
It's only paper links, if you were to believe them all we'd be signing two right wingers.

4.) 23 Dec 2017 16:54:50
Or two right plonkers!!! Merry Christmas!!! 😂😂😂

16 Oct 2017 08:43:26
I would agree that our defence is not all the problem it is the lightweight literally and metaphorically mid field. We never replaced Henry Lansbury like for like . Osborne is best on the wing and I am afraid bridcutt is afraid to tackle or pass in a forward direction or go past a man . However the management team can only do they're best with offers for players and if they don't want to come what can they do?

I thought Oliver Burke signed for WBA yet not seen his name on the team sheet yet. ? Loan in Jan if still not playing.

doc m

1.) 04 Oct 2017 10:02:17
He made 2 sub appearences, in his first 2 games after signing and has been injured since.

He is on his comeback, having played an hour in the check a trade trophy U21 team , last night.

So, in short, no!

2.) 05 Oct 2017 15:54:57
Burkes done nowt since he left, that 13 mill looks a cracking piece of business.

3.) 06 Oct 2017 22:46:31
One bit of business fawaz did get right, but I'll still get crucified for saying it,who cares,No way was he worth anywhere near that.
Personally think he'll end up with more clubs than Rory mcalroy

4.) 07 Oct 2017 09:10:40
13m may look like good business (and was IMO), but RBL did make a profit on it, so they're happy enough with it too!

The madness of modern football, championship player sold for 13m, makes 5 starts in a season for a Bundesliga team and increases in value!?!

But let's not write off a 20 year old so soon, remember how exciting he looked last August? Time will tell.

5.) 07 Oct 2017 20:58:34
Was scotland under 21 captain yesterday hardly contributed and was taken off at half time.
Seen it all before with Franz Carr, Good business.

6.) 09 Oct 2017 12:35:15
Never quite understood why everyone was raving about him in the first place? Head down and straight line merchant with no tactical awareness. Franz Carr Mark 2

7.) 11 Oct 2017 19:31:10
Agreed mate. however he nearly scored one of the best ever goals v Oldham in the league cup final.

14 Apr 2017 09:49:23
My view is Blackburn have to go for a win. They are now level with Wigan, a draw is no real use to them. I think a patient waiting game for us and then a Brentford / Wolves etc breakaway.

doc m

1.) 14 Apr 2017 10:11:50
For me. I would like to see us take the game to them. An early goal from us could be a hammer blow to Blackburn right now.
Nothing to gain by letting them get comfortable.
Go for it boys!

Just an observation having watched Leeds vs Middlesborough. Leeds very poor and on that showing will head due south in the league. I have no doubt AKA tried to sign Bamford recently but I think his value has probably doubled. My promotion are Cardiff Wolves Fulham with Middlesborough close.

18 Feb 2018 09:01:23
What we all wanted was a tighter defence - AKA seemed to say the team had done well and achieved this. So that is a big plus. Does he now keep that pairing adding the new Spanish left back? . I have no doubt that they went for a centre foreword in the transfer window - my guess was Patrick Bamford who is now on the bench with Britt! But Tony Pulis would not let them go . We were lucky to spot Britt but who was our last 20 goal a season forward? Best to grow our own but they are not yet mature. So patience is required. If we drew the remaining matches and the play was 'boring 'I for one would be happy.

1.) 18 Feb 2018 09:35:18
A good post Doc, I have a couple of observations.
It doesn’t matter who plays up front if you can’t create chances. The magical Stan Collymore wouldn’t have scored in the last few games. The lack of goals since early December is just a massive concern. I think MW was going the same way but every now and again there would be a flurry. I knew AK was defensive but we are just getting no where in front of goal.

Secondly Britt was a great player and a steal at 5mil but I think he’d struggle here too, he needs chances to score. Secondly I think this ‘growing your own’ is floored to a degree as the power clubs are grabbing the best kids too young. Other than OB tell me the last time we grew a centre forward ‘of our own’ it doesn’t seem to happen and each one that comes through with promise just seems to fizzle out.

OB wasn’t even an out and out striker and, to be honest it looks like ole Fawaz was right to plunder that money and run. If someone has offered anything more than 5 for B.B. we perhaps ought to have taken it.

I’m starting to think the championship a very hard league to blood players into and you do wonder what the actual out turn cost of doing it is.

There are of course only my opinions but I’ve watched most games this Season and it’s honestly been painful most of the time - really painful.

These are of course just my opinions and I’d be so happy to be proved wrong because if a youth system can work, as, it can bring joy to fans and bring in big money. I’m not sure how many goals B.B. has scored to games player but I don’t think it’s great. I suppose what will be disappointing is, if it’s actualy this one up top tactic from both managers, this season that has ruined progress. On both occasions with Brazil as Manager he’s looked a prospect.

Thoughts anyone?

2.) 18 Feb 2018 11:07:26
Like you 2star I have found this season in a lot matches painful to watch
I think that the last few months have showed that putting all our eggs in the youth basket so to speak was a grave error from the start!
It’s great to think that bringing through your own players from the academy will bring success but in this league depending totally on inexperienced youth maybe was a big ask
Our young players in my opinion are merely lower championship or league 1 at best apart from Worral who is improving the rest seem to be showing signs that they have found their level not sure we have uncovered a special player yet hope I’m wrong only time will tell

3.) 18 Feb 2018 11:16:33
Yes get Brazil back in

4.) 18 Feb 2018 12:06:13
Perfect phrase there Freddie ‘special player’ I think as fans we’ve become so bloody desperate to have something to shout about we’ve over egged the prospects of average players . Absolutely understand why because we’ve had nothing else whatsoever to get excited about have we?

5.) 18 Feb 2018 13:00:19
McKay started brightly but where for art thou Barry lad?😀

10 Feb 2018 20:25:46
Forest had the worst result in the championship today ie all sides below got a point or very nearly. We lost and were woeful. There seemed no organization, Giedura was my MOM with Clash behind but he was a boy facing men. The Hull side were 100 % organised. The team spirit deserted them after the first goal. There is in my mind no doubt we will be relegated and I can see no hope.

07 Feb 2018 07:11:12
An observation both the < 23 and < 18 each having previously won well. The good feeling that comes down from the seniors has stopped or is it a one coincidence. Also have a thought for our neighbours. A score of 8 1 is uncessarily humiliating and the manager should have told Swansea to stop at 5.

doc m

1.) 07 Feb 2018 08:34:11
Their manager should have got them to score 16.

2.) 07 Feb 2018 08:43:41
Football should not be fixed, many moon's ago we put 7 past Chelsea. Should we have stopped at 5.

Their manager will have learned more from that game than many others.

3.) 07 Feb 2018 10:23:55
Doc should we just play for fun!! 😂 quality !!

4.) 07 Feb 2018 10:29:51
To be fair Swansea are going great under carvalhal and he put in a lot of reserves to see how they would perform and the players would want to impress the manager.
He got a great response from the players,Notts had no answer.

5.) 07 Feb 2018 11:50:51
Ok lads - go out and give it your best shot but if we go in front by more than a few goals ease up, don’t challenge for 50/50 balls, give the ball away and aim for the post or crossbar rather than the back of the net. When we review the game I’ll take into account that you were just feeling sorry for the opposition and if I get rid of you the opposition will remember how nice you were to them and might give you a contract.
Balls ⚽️ to that!!

6.) 07 Feb 2018 15:19:29
Quality reply 2tone.
Stop at 5. . yeah right!

31 Jan 2018 07:18:22
We can only hope the AKs reputation attracts the Claytons of this world. Sadly the clubs reputation is still at a low but not quite at the bottom as it was. So who visited Portugal and met this player? For how long was he watched. A loan to buy is astute. Buying footballers is as we can see it is an investment over several years. So the WB bought players were the best he could get for the money he had and their willingness to come to a club like ours. Why may I ask has this club ended up in this mess? We are post BC but also have deteriorated post BD which is not Fawazs fault. If you look at our 'good' players they are from our academy in the main. Our scouting system in my opinion is mainly at fault for our demise. If this Portuguese player is not fit for purpose then my case is proven.

doc m

{Ed001's Note - I am pretty sure it was a player Karanka had worked with before, so he wasn't watched.}

1.) 31 Jan 2018 07:38:33
If you notice most teams in this league SEEM to have bigger tougher stronger fitter better motivated, more vocal and determined players than we have.
Never have i read so many and so deeply scathing remarks about a forest team or performance than i read on here lastnight. I was truly gutted. I respect the comments as most were first hand accounts. I think Karanka too was shocked. Something fundamental at thd club is sadly disturbingly wrong.
Today will reflect the true reaction and ambition of both the club and manager.

2.) 31 Jan 2018 08:04:18
Yes today Karanka will need backing in the transfer market at least 2-3 strong heads with experience at this level will be needed it’s going to be a long 15 hours and even longer 5 months without the players being bought in we need just to stay in this league

3.) 31 Jan 2018 09:57:24
Yes skegs and some on here say we should field more from the u23's. that's not the answer fielding kids who have a romantic novelty impact. We need men, not your manciennes, we need agression. Look at villa lastnight, experience all over the place. Not expecting that overnight but that should be the aim. SNODGRASS say no more.

4.) 31 Jan 2018 12:17:26
I agree our scouting system might have been poor now for a while however that is surely not completely to blame. we have signed some good players Post BC and BD such as Assombolonga, Antonio, Lichij, De Vries etc but most have moved on after a few seasons. Fawaz has no structure.

literally under his ownership the club had a lack of scouts anyway and no DOF, not enough coach’s, medical staff, we paid too much in wages, too much in fees often, didn’t make good deals when selling with extras in deals for kids such as add ins and sell on fees, he didn’t do his taxes properly as refused to get decent and experienced accountants and used his mates instead and messed up with sponsors and tickets and all sorts of nonsense which got us repeatable into issues and fines with the FA and put in transfer embargos.

I still think he meant well but he came into English football from a naive place and Mickey Mouse league and wasn’t prepared for the professionalism of English football but it was his reign and his time that messed us up and ultimately any business is only as good as its owner (I say that as a business owner) and when it goes bad it is ultimately down to the owner and that man was Fawaz and it takes a long time for new owners to rebuild the reputation and get staff and customers confidence back.

OK so we are in a financial mess so please explain to me the finances of all other clubs and how they are different to us. Look at the gates of other clubs it is not simply attendances.

McGugan can score from free kicks and in his last season with BD scored 13. Would have him rather than Bentner or the other overseas players that the summer brought to our sures

Lansbury is by far the best player at our club and inspires the team. Can anyone name any other player in his class. At this club. He should go to Watford and further his ambitions. The club have lost two and drawn one without him. It will be interesting to see the score against Barnsley without him.

Surely if someone is that near buying the club they will not change the manager at this stage. Fawaz must realise if Forest go down then he says goodbye to all his money. Common sense tells you the position our club is in is not 100% may be 60%. Jose has lost it and even with stupid money paid for players they can't win. Warnock is an example of a very good motivator. There are others we could all name and Gareth Southgate is not one of them incidentally. My view is we must stick with PM at least until Xmas. Supporters need to shout for him. When he came from who knows but there seems to have been a Greek hand in this so I suspect they may still take over. Although my choice would have been Red Bull who must desire a club like ours and then vis a vis napoli and Watford swop players ie OB!

Best wishes to 51 and 79. Life can be unpredictable for all of us. So let Nottingham Forest try to help inspire your recovery so you can watch their new qualities. A manager that is not afraid to bite the bullet and change the team who supports youth and persists with a wining side despite his bench. Tuesday maybe expect some changes as AKA will know the importance of Sunday which I will be the usual fiesty affair. My prediction is 4 points out of a possible 6

The play yesterday = the Preston game bar Adelene, Cash and Pantillion. The opposition managers do their homework and press us all the time as yesterday. They know our defence is weak. I saw tackles from Adeline and they have been a rarity. Does anyone know if we are doing Zonal marking again ? As Hull players were 90% to the ball first and seemingly 90% of their passes reached a Hull player. Osborne will be dropped next time as he has had chance after chance, Dowell I suspect came with the proviso he played every week. Manciene needs dropping. Our problem is we have good players but not team players. Many clubs have average players but good team players so that side functions well and is effective. Can AK sort this I hope so as there is no alternative

I remember the wolves match at the city ground. We attacked then and lost 2: 1, they I think had wing backs or very fast backs. After our attack would falter the goal keeper had rolled the ball out who had already passed halfway with the forward with him. We lost I recall both goals like this on quick breaks. I think 9 + GK behind the ball similar to Leeds and same result. This team have the longest run in the football league unbeaten at home. So a point is like a win for us
