Well it seems like Britt had a £15m buy out clause which we have the camel salesman to thank?

May have learnt from Antonio but ignored the knowledge of the looming new TV deal and transfer inflation.

So unfortunately another player undersold in the current market!

We will now be faced with paying top dollar to replace like for like whereas a £20m + buyout would have saved us all the bother?

£15 mill for a player whos knee could blow tomorrow was still excellent business.

We've got some decent quality up front so a like for like won't be necessary, particularly when save ourselves 15 goals by reinforcing the base of midfield.

As far as I'm aware no one else came close to the 15m bid so its pointless asking for 20m or saying the player was undersold? The market found its level.

Job done and move on.

Totally agree with cjay, if you don't concede you don't lose a strong cm and central defender will go a long way to replacing britts goals. Have a bit more faith people, next season will be a whole new ball game.

When fit Britt was great, but he hasn't been fully fit for 2 years. Even during the last couple of games of the season he looked sluggish at times. £15m is OK. Not great but happy be building a future with fit hungry young players. Given time and support their quality will show.

yes britt will be hard to replace but 15 million for a player who has had the injury record he has had is a great bit of business for us IF we use it wisely who knows he could only play a handful of games for boro or he could win them the league BIG gamble.

i agree cjay, also it gives warburton a few million to say "here you go, make the team your own". although i'm disappointed he went i'm excited to see warburton sign a few more of his own players and shape the squad into what he wants it to be.

Well we will see who we end up with at the start of the season and where we end up at the end?

My main point is that a buyout at £20m would have kept a top championship striker plus we would still recruit some reinforcements which would give us the best chance to compete next year when prices are going through the roof.

Investing in youth is fine but the finance gap in this corrupt football structure is going to make it much much harder every year.

Not convinced our Scots will hit the ground running but I do believe Vellios can score 15+ goals if the team is set up to his strengths.

Also a bit harsh to blame Fawaz, yes he did a lot wrong but tying Britt to a new long term deal was not a bad move. Would we have got as much if he hadn't?

Red to be fair when Fawaz gave britt a new 5 year contract he was hardly fit and 15 million would have been more than enough to frighten anyone off.
So just for once Fawaz did well.
Problem we will have is if Brereton starts banging them in its going to be very difficult to keep hold of him too.

But that's where we are and it's better to have players worth big sums than not, it's another form of financial stability.
