Red top claims that Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is ready to snap up Nottingham Forest's young centre-half Jamaal Lascelles in a £3million deal within the next 24 hours, Lascelles was pulled out of the squad against West Brom due to this

1.) 03 Aug 2014
Or not because he's only trained once or twice since he last got injured

2.) 03 Aug 2014
3 million?? Someone must think its April 1st!!
I'm realistic around our youngsters potentially leaving, but the figures must be realistic. This is a mile off!

3.) 03 Aug 2014
Red Top should have read....

{Ed034's Note - I changed it as I don't want to promote them

4.) 03 Aug 2014
Really? We've already turned down a. bid of more than £3m. The rumour I'm seeing on the bird site on this is its a double bid for Darlow and Lascelles. Personally I wouldn't accept any less than £15-20m for the pair.

5.) 03 Aug 2014
Just hope ain't true. figures of higher been seen and pearce saying silly offers only.3 million ain't enough surely.

6.) 03 Aug 2014
We turned down a bid of 4 million from QPR, and 5 million from Arsenal so ca'nt see this being true.
Maybe this is what Alan Nixon has described as strange.

7.) 03 Aug 2014
3 million is laughable. I'd take 10-12 for the pair though. With that kind of money to spend on new players it would give us a great chance of top a top 2 finish.

8.) 03 Aug 2014
Also if they do get sold I wouldn't like them back on loan. They wouldn't be as committed.

9.) 04 Aug 2014
This story is in 4 separate Red Tops. I don't get the amount being reported. The most credible says he will be loaned back until Jan. Also doesn't mention anything about Darlow where as the other ones do.

10.) 04 Aug 2014
Seems they is some mileage in this. Deal would include a loan clause back of forest until January. Hopefully it won't happen!

11.) 04 Aug 2014
Sounds like lazy journalism to me. Some mentioned above that Pearce has already rejected an offer higher than that. I'd be sad to see them go, only because in today's game, young English talents prices are only getting higher. Big money from them next year. If we're not promoted next year.

12.) 04 Aug 2014
If they both went that would be classed as strange due to all the talk saying they are going nowhere. what also would be strange is if we have to sell them due to ffp, if the naming rights deal hasn't been done.
If lacselles was pulled out the squad due to an impending move would they have done the same with darlow?

13.) 04 Aug 2014
We can't get the likes of adomah for 3.5 million, but we are going to sell one of the most promising english centre halfs in the country for less!! Hugely doubtful around this story

14.) 04 Aug 2014
It's just 'poke the beehive' tactics if Arsenal bid didn't unsettle Jamaal don't think Newcastle will. All clubs do it don't think the Adomah bids aren't us nudging at Adomah or his agent

15.) 04 Aug 2014
Hope not true, and especially for that fee, if he is going it needs to be for a bigger fee than £3 million!

The daily snail not the most accurate of tabloids if this is where you saw it 3 million no where enough for a start

17.) 04 Aug 2014
What makes this even less believable (outside of it being from a red top) is that both Pearce and JL have confirmed he is only just back on the grass following injury. In interview with Forest Player JL said he may get some minutes on Tuesday in a friendly but possibly not. He was never in the frame for the WBA job. Plus Darlow won't sit on the bench at Newcastle, he himslef said the most important thing is he is playing. Fingers crossed they will both be in the Prem with us next season.

18.) 04 Aug 2014
3mil is alarming but there maybe more to it.3mil upfront in full plus a season loan back (although no point loaning back if he's not a defo first choice) and then at least a 20-30% sell on clause would be a more attractive deal than the supposed arsenal bid of 6mil including all payment options and clauses. 30% of 15mil down the line is better and if a similar deal for darlow then not as bad as first appears. Don't get me wrong I want to keep both and in 3 years time have 20 odd millions worth of 2 players but business is business.

19.) 04 Aug 2014
Why would we care about a few million years down the line as sell on clauses. Surely if we're in the prem with mega bucks sponsors by then the sell on clauses we receive will mean very little to us. What's most important is keeping our best players to get us to the premiership in the first place. Really hope this isn't true because it makes no business sense.

{Ed034's Note - we get the money to help us get to the premier league now and also get the players back for the season.
most deals being offered were for installments

20.) 04 Aug 2014
We also have to consider the benefits of selling now, there's no guarantee we're going up this year. If come January we're not challenging it is likely offers will come in for these players and they might be more likely to force a move knowing promotion is not on the cards.

A slightly different angle is that the two of them had a pretty decent first full season but there's no guarantee they'll do the same this coming season, sell now, get them back for the season, and if they under-perform this would be seen as a great deal in hindsight. Pearce has been stocking up with young defenders with potential and we have plenty of decent keepers coming through the ranks (along with the rumours of Butland on loan). 8 - 10m is a good deal that allows us to strengthen other areas of the team in more urgent need of attention, a striker, winger and midfielder.

21.) 04 Aug 2014
If Darlow and Laselleces are leaving and it's cash up front and a season long loan then it's a good deal, though sad to see two of our youngsters leaving too soon but hey that's football. Hope the two signings coming in are a bit "special" to appease the natives.

22.) 04 Aug 2014
Just heard we have first refusal, so there is a buy back option.
