Going by all the comments on here about DF, I guess opinion is still divided on whether he is the right manager for us? I have to say when he was first appointed, my initial reaction was disappointment, but after hearing his first press conference, I have to say I was impressed with what he said. Personally I think he has done a good job so far, and he's still saying the right things that as a fan, I want to hear. I think next season will be tough for us, but I hope he is given a chance to show what he can do. The point I really wanted to make was this. When he was at Palace, he built a team that ultimately got promotion and reputation for himself as one of the up and coming Managers. His move to Bolton, in hindsight was disastrous for him as he clearly thought he was going to bigger club with more prospects. Little did he know what was round the corner. After getting panned and sacked at Bolton, that reputation he gained kind of went overnight. I would therefore say DF has a lot riding on being successful with us as well, as he looks to rebuild his own reputation as an up and coming manager. There is a high level of expectation at our club, but as others have mentioned already today on this site, Eddie Howe took 6 years to get Bournemouth up.

He has a big task this summer. Think as long as the team performs as he has already stated they should and keeps us in the mix all will be fine. Massive job for him and exciting times ahead.

I like him and think he is a good manager to use a small budget. He also seems to take a no nonsense approach which l like.

I do wish he wore a suit though, on match day the manager should look smart in my opinion.

Its simple psychology in my opinion. Dougie presents a more hands on approach in a track suit as apposed to the more aloof style of a suited manager. Might sound like rubbish, but i'm just trying to squeeze myself into the minds of the players.

It's not he clothes it's what's inside them that counts. The club needs 18 months of stability. I'm not for or against DF nor SP but we need to get the basis of NFFC to be stable and consistent with a coherent team and good youngsters coming through all the time.

A green keeper's jersey and training trousers were good enough for the greatest of all. Working clothes.

It's what goes on at the training ground where they are all dressed for business in the same kit, not how they project themselves on match days!

What we need is consistency, you are right - Dougie may be the man to do that. He will be judged across the first few months of the season, but his real test will come after those first three months when we begin to have our dip that comes every season without fail - can he avoid it?

I don't see why Dougie can't do well with us, every manager would have limited resources and he is very much a motivator it seems.

I'm nervous and excited for next season already.
