Brilliant signal of intent by our new owner! Selling our best player and most likely not reinvesting the money! Watch a load of dodgy loans/ free transfers come in. For once I was really optimistic heading into the new season but Marinakis is no better than Fawaz. Warburton is just going to sign players he managed in the mighty Scottish league and at Brentford all those years ago!

He had a £15m release clause. If it's met, nothing we can do about it. He wanted to go. Agent touting him around clubs. Nothing to do with the owners. Personally think £15m is a good deal. He's not played anywhere near a full season in years. Now let's sit back and see what MW and FMcP can do with the money. And calm down!

Before coming on here with your doom and gloom, at least take the time to understand what you're actually saying. We had no chance of keeping Britt and 15m is good money for the club to be sustainable. Get real!

Good business. Money important to britt and us. We have a reasonable srikforce as it is. His knee aside was britt a force away from home? Did he always give 100% like cohen? If velios is still with us then he is a good player who can link and is better in the air. So what if most of the money is used to prop up the club. We still have a club to support and marakinakis has put the club in safe hands and whatever people might say the future is a lot brighter!

Signed a league one striker, he scored a few goals, never played a full season, got a really bad injury that will keep giving him problems, sold for nearly 3 times what we paid for him. He wanted out, £60,000 a week wages, signing on fee of around half a million. I think in some ways it's good busines. Forest are not one of the big clubs who can compete financially with other Championship clubs, selling players is the way that this club needs to operate at the moment. Let's see what happens in regards to signings, I am sure some of the money will be reinvested.

As a few other posters have said.
If a player wants to leave, especially after the club stuck by him, after he only played about 50% of games in the last 3yrs, how can you possibly have a go at the club? nobody wants a sulky player in the dressing room.
15m under the circumstances is not a bad price. 7m under the last owner for Antonio certainly was!
Structure and scouting is a million miles better, and don't forget Brit was a gamble from a div2 side at 5.5m.
So let's not have a go at the Bread Mans signings, before we have even kicked a ball in anger.
I see a lot of promise in Cummins, McCay and Clough and see no reason why our other signings won't make us a stronger and closer nit unit.
Think positive, it really is a new start!

People need to get past this gut reaction and disappointment it was clear a couple of months ago that Britt would be off. I did post about it when we signed Cummings. If you look at this deal in a logical way it's actually a very good piece of business. We have £15m of which around £2m will go to Peterborough, a further 7-8m will be invested into the club so valuable pieces of infrastructure and running costs can be paid for. That leaves £5m for transfers, and to me that's a decent amount to get good CB, Keeper and CM.

I think the 4 strikers we have will be enough to get us at least into a comfortable mid-table spot, which again is good progress for a team that was almost relegated last season. I'm very excited for the start of next season, I for one think Cummings and Brereton will be our star strikers, the forgotten man in Vellios will be a great asset to us when we're struggling to make the ball stick, and Clough offers so much versatility that I can see him being involved in every single game next season. That's without mentioning Osbourne, Vaughan, Cohen and Carayol who towards the end of the season showed very positive signs.

If you look back at the letter that the new Chairman sent to supports he did state that the club would have to make some very difficult decisions, this is a difficult decision that was taken out of the clubs hands by a greedy agent spotting a pay day. I cannot believe that any of our other players will now leave and we need to trim the deadwood and sign a small number of quality players. We should now be in a position to do this. We don't want wholesale changes to the squad as players take time to settle in to new surroundings and teams that get promotion have settled squads not a raft of new players.

The players that we have can hit the ground running and play the style that MW wants. That should be enough to get us over mid table which, to me, is all we can hope for this season.

Don't forget how many Januarys Britt may miss in the future because of ACON. He's desperate to play for DR Congo, like his Father, but can his knees take four or five games in a fortnight in the middle of a season? Just a thought.

In regards to my post last night, I still feel that imo the club does lack ambition, but I do understand why players are sold, it is clear that we need to operate on a budget. Britt needed and wanted to go and like I have said it was a great bit of business.

Assombalonggone and his contemporaries are money motivated and that's all there is to it. Bloody hell got to change my name again now. Wonder how long till Boro fans get fed up with billy bongo being constantly offside and dossing about doing note?

How can we say the owners at forest are in ambitious? The own olympiacos and have won how much silverware? Britt wanted to leave and as much as I hope his legs fall off on the first match of the season there was nothing forest could do about it. We keep hearing about the team being more or less the same as last season but is that such a bad thing?

I honestly don't think the players can take much blame for last season. Montanier was a huge disaster and when players are having to change formation during a match behind the managers back you know there's a massive problem. Any other manager would have been sacked months before montanier was.

Yes Britt will be missed but how many games did he play for us? And even with Britt where did we finish every season he was with us? He's no footballing saviour at all. And I think this season is going to be out best for quite along time. So come in you reds!
