So Dougie lied about the list we do not need to see, but would like to, now he has lied about the players he is interested in, and he has lied about not lying to we the fans.
There seems to be trend.

dare - personally I think Forest have done their laundry in public for too long so it would actually be somewhat refreshing to go through a period where every signing isn't public (and therefore press) knowledge before it happens - we have surely got to employ some smoke and mirrors given the constraints we are under? Coming straight out and saying 'we want to sign 'insert name'. ' is fine if you have the budget to do it - but we certainly do not have the budget / freedom to do that presently.

I agree with you to an extent, but Dougie did not just employ smoke and mirrors.

Dougie said something along the lines of: My knowledge of players stretches behond players I have worked with, I will not be signing him and his wages will be too high.

That is not smoke and mirrors, that is almost calling the questioner stupid for asking.

I have said this several times on this site. DF says what the fans want to hear. Ward and Mills will not get us to the promised land. However what is interesting should Mills sign is who will go between Wilson, Mancienne, Hobbs and Laing.

Dare you took the words out of my mouth.but because of who I am I'm not allowed to speak like that because I'm still "bitter about Pearce leaving".pearce has gone and yes like most others I'm sad,sad that he has gone only to be replaced with someone who isn't much (if any) better than Pearce.pearce spoke the truth and told it how it was,douling or has come in and told people what they want to hear and people have fell for it.

I think that signing Mills for free and on a lowish wage due to FFP is quite a good move provided we can sell either Wilson or Hobbs. Financially we'd be better off and I don't think it weakens the squad. Mills is a decent defender at this level and less injury prone. I think Mancienne is the best footballer out of our current four, although I have seen very little of Laing.

DARE - I'd not heard / seen that from Dougie, so apologies.
And I agree with you on the 'saying what fans want to hear' bit. I do also worry about next season as if you look back over this season, our runs of form came during the honeymoon period of new managers. Also I think next season will be defined not by who we sign but who we can keep this summer (Antonio, Lansbury etc). Don't think Mills will make any difference.

I think you are all missing the point about Dougie saying he isn't interested in out of contract players. Him coming out and saying we are interested in Ward, Mills & O'Hara etc just alerts other clubs who will offer them £11k a week which then puts them out of our league. I think he is a shrewd manager. Players want to play for him for whatever reason. Ward and Mills could potentially be great signings, adding a bit of bite and a loud voice to the team that was obviously lacking last season. Couple that to Reid and hopefully Cohen being fit and 1 or 2 more additions and we might just shock a few teams. COYR
