It's started, rumours of Dan Petrescu being in the frame if SP gets the chop, good or bad?? Don't know much about his career as a manager to be honest, another gamble I think.

{Ed002's Note - Dan is a good and well respected manager. I am not so sure he would be at one with the owner.}

1.) 07 Jan 2015
I would rather have Karl Robinson our tim sherwood

2.) 07 Jan 2015
Petrescu to the rescue?

3.) 07 Jan 2015
I think that sooner or later SP will get the chop I just cannot see him getting us playing very sad to see him go but I think he will go does anybody know what happened to george burley I used to think he was a good manager not sure what happened to him the other 1 I would give a go to which I wasn't keen on at first would be Zola I just want somebody who plays attractive football and does over engineer things with crazy tactics

{Ed001's Note - I think Burley is out of work, but Zola has just taken a Serie A job with Cagliari, and they lost their first match under him 5-0 at the weekend.}

Thanks ed not sure what I actually thought Zola did well at Watford & was in the running for our job when SP got it as for burley I just thought his teams always entertained that was why I hought of him as he plays football the forest way as for stuart I'm gutted it's going the way it has and despite all these people saying give him time what about other managers that's only had the same time as him and are doing better with far less resources ie the fellow at Watford the worry is there is no improvement not 1 bit what do you think mate do you think fawaz will call time on him? I hope the fans don't start going off at him if he does because in my opinion it would be well justified what's you're thoughts?

{Ed001's Note - Zola did play good football, but the results were not so good, similar to the way Roberto Martinez is now struggling at Everton.
Burley I think could be a good fit at Forest, as he was very much in the mould of Clough, in terms of the way he liked his players to conduct themselves on the pitch. Not just passing football, but the respect shown to match officials. Burley would not allow his players to surround and hound the ref like so many managers do, something that Clough was also very well known for.
Fawaz has never had a well thought out long term plan in place, Pearce was supposed to be the first step in that. A man to unite the fans and rebuild the club from top to bottom. So long as Pearce can keep the fans behind him, I would expect Fawaz to hang on, unless the club drops into the relegation dogfight in a big way. Other than that, I expect him to review it at the end of the season, like he intended. Hard to tell with Fawaz, he is impulsive and may act on a whim and just say enough is enough at any moment. I am sure that is helpful in the business world, where decisiveness is key, but in football, you need to learn to act at the right moments. The one thing I am sure of though, is that he, as he was advised repeatedly at the time, realises it was a mistake to not insist Pearce started the job immediately full time when it was agreed. So much time was wasted then.}

Let's be sensible about this. We have had 7 managers in the last 3. 5 years (inlcuding Gary Brazil) each of which has "failed" for one reason or another. The definition of stupidity is "to keep on doing the same thing and expecting a different result!" Changing the manager again is not the answer. Plus, who would come given that we have a transfer embargo hanging over us? No manager wants to inherit a team that is perceived as failing and not have the ability (other than loans) to make his mark by making changes.
There is something else wrong. Personally I think it's the lack of a leader. With Reid and Cohen missing there is no will to dig in. As soon as we can have a leader on the pitch things will change. With Hobbs back this might help us (but I saw no evidence of this at Spotland on Saturday) so it seems we need to get Reid back ASAP. Patience fellow Reds, the ship will turn ;-)

MattC, spot on 100% agreement with your post.

7.) 07 Jan 2015
Good post mattC we definitely need a voice on the pitch with 2 big games coming up, after saturday i said enough is enough but i do want pearce to do well, but is there anyone out there who could do a better job with these players don't forget we have an embargo on us, keep the faith with pyscho & the players & i think it will turn around for us soon

I am disappointed with how things have turned out after a promising start, Cohen was a massive loss for us. I have always had reservations about Pearce but I for one believe fawaz needs to publicly back our manager. I don't think other than hoddle there is anyone I would want. We can ride this out but the players need to grow a pair and get this season back on track. Hobbs is a type of player I would want to start dishing out some rollockings in the dressing room. A couple of loan signings would be good but need starting players not squad players. Come on lads and lasses forget the speculation about sp and let's get behind him like we have done all season, it can only get better, can't it ?

In what sense did Sean O'Driscoll fail?

10.) 07 Jan 2015
Just a thought but is picking the same players, using the same tactics, getting the same poor results and not changing anything when you continue to get those same results, also a definition of stupidity!? I honestly want (ed) SP to get it right but things just have not progressed on the pitch over the last 5 months or so. We have gone backwards and the performances and results just seem to be getting worse! I really hope he can turn it around quickly otherwise I fear his time will be up!

11.) 07 Jan 2015
Dan Petrescu.
No thankyou.

12.) 07 Jan 2015
I cannot believe we have arrived at this point. As a season ticket holder I have seen 1st hand the decline in results and subsequently performances. This has as everyone probably realises coincides with the game against Derby where we lost the heart of our team in 3 players. It was devastating watching Cohen on the floor and we all knew what he'd done. Those players have not played since. Any manager would struggle losing their best 3 players. Imagine Madrid without Ronaldo, bale or benzema? If we sack Pearce then the heart of our team will be further destroyed. I believe he is the man to take us forward. Not one person in this country loves our club more than him. Then replace him with someone who sees us as a stepping stone to something better. Pearce has started building a platform where we won't be solely reliant on fawaz's money. He needs time. He needs our support. So get behind him.

Read Gary Birtles column. That says it all. Most sensible thing I have read for ages.

14.) 07 Jan 2015
Completely agree with PitPony's question. O'driscoll didn't fail and barely spent in comparison such a shame he was sacked. We were moving in right direction under him.

15.) 08 Jan 2015
PitPony, that's why I put "failed" in quotes, i. e. he didn't fail but was sacked anyway because he was considered to not be the one to take us forward. I'm just emphasisng the point that changing the manager is not the right approach.

I read Birtle's column. Spot on.
