on The Beeb: Forest, Leeds & Blackburn all handed transfer embargoes for the rest of the season for breaching FFP Rules. :- (

MattC

1.) Though we can still bring in 2 players as long as no fee and for under £10,000 a week. Or if we sell a player can use 75% of his fee to buy a player.

2.) We really really really need to sell abdoun now £5m anyone. What bout Collins? got to be worth at least £1. 50???

3.) Offloading Lansbury to buy a creative midfielder should now be the priority.

4.) I have seen this other sites but my question is - where is the information of our official website?. I have moaned about out of date news on the site before and now we have an important issue and NOTHING. The site is an absolute disgrace and whoever is responsible for updating it needs either a rocket up the backside or sacking (or both). Communication is the key ingredient for any business and NFFC is no exception. Rant over COYR

5.) SP took over an absolute shambles by all accounts, and has taken it upon himself to rebuild the club personally. i'm ITK and have it on good authority the website is on the list. One below "more water in the lager" and one above "winning football matches".

6.) Pedroalicante - no updates on Leeds or Blackburn sites either. Maybe the clubs are considering their position before making a public statement. You know, like professionally run businesses do??

I am sure the absence of an update has nothing to do with the person/ people that manage the website.

So please keep your rants to yourself!

{Ed001's Note - actually the club don't run the sites, they are farmed out to a company owned by the Football League. I think there are 86 club sites they maintain, certainly there were 86 under their umbrella a couple of years back. Hence why they all look the same, but with different colours, and are all so poorly run. It was called Football League Interactive, though they could well have changed name since I last heard.}

7.) The content of the sites is managed by the clubs and their comms departments - and they have access to publish information.

It is true that the clubs don't own the site infrastructure (which I agree isn't particularly good) but that makes no difference to whether we can get a message live in 3 hours.

The reason that there is no update on the site, is because the club have chosen not to comment yet - and why should they?

{Ed001's Note - perhaps because it is good business practice to communicate with your paying customers? And yes it can make a difference because one of the issues with them has always been the lack of speed with which updates can be added. It must have changed if the clubs are now managing them, as they were always managed by the websites themselves in the past. Hence why press releases are in the public domain long before the sites get updated with the same info, as it is waiting on the FLI to get round to it on many occasions.}

8.) NFFCDave you have it a little bit wrong mate well can sell a player but we can't pay a fee for a replacement but we can use 75% of his wage to pay the new player aslong as its under 600k all in.

9.) 15 Dec 2014 17:59:18
I hope SP will be very cautious, and the club take advice and think hard before buying anyone else. By all means sell Lansbury, Abdoun, Collins, but I'd rather tread water for the rest of the season, give chances to our young talent, and get the club on to a really sound financial footing, so that we make sure roots and branches are clear and any omnishambles disappears for good. I'd like to be a fly on the wall at QPR when they reveal what is to happen to them and Happy-go-lucky Harry.

10.) If we obtain two players in the January window (I believe that we don't need any more than that with the squad we have got) then the embargo won't hurt us too badly. We have several players who won't be having their contract renewed in the summer and of course we can replace them under the one out one in rule if the embargo continues.

11.) Im sure there is a reason but as fawaz is our shirt sponsor why couldn't he have made the shirt sponsor worth say 50 million and stopped all this as its classed as income seems to simple so i'm sure there must be rule or regulation in place

12.) I think the owner is restricted to a £5 million cash injection. W just have to be cute. I'm sure there are plans afoot.
Lets face it we've some really good players in for very little money already this season.
Think its case of watch this space.

{Ed001's Note - £5m last season, £3m this.}

13.) As dazza said there may be other things on the go as the ground naming rumour has gone quite. This could bring in mega bucks.

14.) Response to Tricky1972. Like ED says it is good business practice. Even if the statement was simply about the embargo and that the ramifications were being looked into and considered. Any assurances they could make at this stage regarding minimising any future negatives would have been welcomed. I guess you must be into Mushroom Management, Tricky 1972, "keep em in the dark". Oh and rants will continue at mine and Ed's discretion

15.) Pedroalicante If you really think a rant demanding the sacking of an employee in the clubs admin department was what was called for, then I won't engage you further in question of professional management!

Scott Loach looking for a house in Nottingham (viewed my mates place). I hope he's planning on going to Notts or Mansfield otherwise this doesn't bode well for Darlow being around next season?

MattC

1.) Was De Vries on a one-year deal?

Wouldn't mind Loach sat on the bench but he's not good enough for the No. 1 jersey.

{Ed034's Note - two year

2.) If Darlow was to be sold (hopefully not) then i'd like to see De Vries given a chance in the team

3.) 16 Apr 2014 14:46:28
I thought Scott Loach lived in the area anyway? Maybe looking to buy a bigger house!

4.) I'd have no problem seeing Darlow go in the summer as long as we get the right money for him eg 5m+ as I know we have a class back up in de vries.

5.) He got family who live in Nottingham and he is always up there

One of the leading betting comparison sites has Gus Poyet odds on for the Forest job with at least 2 bookies. Whilst this might not be a bad shout I'm struggling to find a "connection with Nottingham" plus, he certainly isn't English!

MattC

1.) 11 Apr 2016 11:53:01
None of the mangers mentioned will entertain coming until they know what division we will be in. I cannot see Martin O'Neil coming or Nigel Pearson as they will easily get jobs if they want with a Preniership Club. Pearson is still on gardening leave and it would cost him too much money to join any club at present. Derby tried to get him but financially he would have lost out, he may go there there next season. Same applies to David Moyes for a joining a Club now. They will not want a Fawaz sacking on their CV. Nigel Clough's Burton Albion are slipping badly, he will only come if Burton albion get promoted. Don't think Fawaz will want him if Burton Albiojn do not get promoted anyway. I cannot see any manger where there is compensation to pay.

2.) 11 Apr 2016 13:24:07
Let's be honest, the chances of us getting a quality manager are slim for obvious reasons. The only reason we would land O'Neil would be because of his connections to the club, I'm sure he wants to see Forest succeed just as much as we do - let's hope that's enough.

Forest to announce losses of £17.1m according to SSN. This would breach FFP rules. Fawaz says the problem will be fixed by the end of the season with sponsorship deals in Kuwait. Let's hope so. We don't need a transfer embargo and/or fine for the start of the Premiership season!

MattC

1.) Apologies Ed, I've tried posting a couple of time but not gone through.

The losses must be seen in context and don't forget it will be the 2013-14 accounts that will be under most scrutiny.

If we cast our minds back to 2012/13 - Fawaz had a siginficant initial outlay namely due to us not having a team. We remember the number of players coming in. Expenditure on the screens and LED adboards.

As I've said, 2013-14 will give us a much truer reflection of NFFC's financial health. It will be the first full year of Fawaz's sponsorship, Al Jazerra, and the various Kuwaiti deals which Fawaz himself said in the interview with Nat, covers all the losses. Our brand is growing in the middle east and north africa. We will see increased revenue streams as Middle Eastern companies utilise our LED Ad Boards for all Al Jazeera viewers. Add to this that the wages of Miller, Derbs, Gillett, Tudgay etc will drop off, will only serve to improve our finances. Appreciate that we have higher earners in Abdoun, Djebbour, Hobbs and potentially for Lansbury re improved contract. But overall, we are much more stable and finances will begin to improve. Fawaz is a billionaire, not through luck but business and commercial accumen.

Best to let Fawaz get on with the business side of things and us fans to do our bit by supporting the club.

Dee

2.) Whole lot of fuss about nothing tbh, if fawaz says a sponsorship deal will cover it then that's the end of that. Just aload of media hysteria making a big deal out of the figures.

The Beeb is reporting that DJ Campbell's future at Blackburn is in doubt following his alleged involvement with unsavoury betting practices. If that's the case and he leaves Blackburn I can't see them parting with Jordan Rhodes no matter how fat Mr Al-Hasawi's wallet is?

MattC

{Ed034's Note - the reason they will sell Rhodes is for the money. if dj leaves, this will not change the fact they would still need that money. in fact they'd probably need it more so they can bring in replacements

1.) D J Campbell has said that he will clear his name before Saturday's 3-3 draw against Millwall at the New Den.

2.) Genius comment

3.) So the guy on the pitch on Saturday with no name on his shirt is DJ Campbell?

I think even the police will work out who they are looking if he tries that stunt!

100% a wind up! The language and grammar is appalling and there are hundreds of typo's. No professional agency would ever produce a document that bad. Don't worry about this ever coming true ;-)

Petrescu the favourite on most betting sites. Way shorter odds than any other. Tim Sherwood second in the running.

PitPony, that's why I put "failed" in quotes, i. e. he didn't fail but was sacked anyway because he was considered to not be the one to take us forward. I'm just emphasisng the point that changing the manager is not the right approach.

I read Birtle's column. Spot on.

Let's be sensible about this. We have had 7 managers in the last 3. 5 years (inlcuding Gary Brazil) each of which has "failed" for one reason or another. The definition of stupidity is "to keep on doing the same thing and expecting a different result!" Changing the manager again is not the answer. Plus, who would come given that we have a transfer embargo hanging over us? No manager wants to inherit a team that is perceived as failing and not have the ability (other than loans) to make his mark by making changes.
There is something else wrong. Personally I think it's the lack of a leader. With Reid and Cohen missing there is no will to dig in. As soon as we can have a leader on the pitch things will change. With Hobbs back this might help us (but I saw no evidence of this at Spotland on Saturday) so it seems we need to get Reid back ASAP. Patience fellow Reds, the ship will turn ;-)
