Can a Ed please tell me when a player has either a release clause, or a selling on fee are there any restrictions as to the amount.
{Ed002's Note - I don't really underrstand the question - give me an example.}

As far as I am aware there are no restrictions on sell-on fees or release clauses, though I imagine things may vary from league to league. For e. g it is a legal requirement in La Liga for every player to have a release clause in their contract, same in Portugal I think too.

Ed002
For example if a club sold a player, could insist on say 50% of any fee that player fetched if the buying club were to sell him in the future, or do the rules only allow a certain amount.
If a player were to insist that his contract were to include a release clause where if a team from a higher league came in for him he could leave for certain fee. Is there minimum, amount he would have to he coul go for, so the club at least make a profit.
{Ed002's Note - (a) A club cannot insist on that but it is not on common to have a sell on clause of x% of profit made. A buyer may wish to reduce the fee they pay to compensate for this. (b) Release clauses are fairly rare in the UK.}
