Sad to see Larry Lloyd died.
So many great memories from that great era. How we could do with Larry and Kenny now. RIP great man.

Very sad East Coast. One of my all time heroes. Had a few drinks with him at the Stage Door with some of my former CID colleagues back in the day. He came and did a brilliantly funny talk at a Charity Evening in the bar at Radford Road Police Station. He told some very interesting stories and took questions from his rapt audience. He started with the words “Good evening, can you all see me behind this microphone stand”? He told us how Peter Osgood at Chelsea was the dirtiest player he’d ever played against until the day he seized his opportunity to head butt him which nobody saw “as the fog had come in from the Trent and everybody was watching a Peter Shilton goal kick. ”
Cloughie and him never got on but Larry said he only realised later that the great man’s windups ( and fines) were motivational as the big man played his heart out to prove him wrong. He said 90 % of his “bespoke “ training was heading because “that’s all I want you do, nothing else because you can’t effing do anything else “. I never ever saw Larry lose a ball in the air or in a 50 50 collision. Him and Burnsy were the team “enforcers” so nobody took any liberties. A man with a personality as big as his build.
Some great stories and some heavy drinking that night
RIP big man and condolences to your loved ones.

Why not Carlo buddy. Just reading a few posts back and Stevie f be proud you served your country in the army. 79 be proud of your dad and brother. My dad served in thr RAF in the war and I'm proud of him.
ED7 Well. and I quote " people who join the army are psychopaths who aren't wired up right to function in a normal civilised society. "
My god so I suppose the Dambusters, and all the people that hit the French beaches are psychopaths too.
Typical comment of today's Lilly livered Liberals most of which are vegans who buy Gesture (Easter) Eggs and agree with the change of the George cross on the England shirt. No wonder the UK is like a 3rd World country these days. Gutless generation in tow. 🎈.

Agree2 0Disagree

{Ed007's Note - I turn 50 this year and grew up in a shithole of a council estate just outside Glasgow so you're judgement of me is as stupid as it is expected from racist right wing clowns who tug their forelocks over anything English/British.
The men who fought and died in the World Wars had no choice in the matter, ever heard of conscription? It was the bastards hiding in their cosy offices and sending young men to their death that were the psychopaths, your Churchill's, Hitler etc.
I'm talking about people who voluntarily sign-up, who in the their right mind volunteers to kill innocent men, who kill and rape innocent women and children, you know all the stuff the British Army have been doing for generations to make their masters even richer. Fighting in wars that we either created for no reason or we have no business being in.

And yet all the while there is a chance they will get shot or blown up themselves - you seriously saying that people who willingly put themselves in those situations and risks are wired up in the head right?

Oh btw, moaning & crying about a cross on a football top - really? 😂😂😂😂 I bet you all will still be wearing it when you get battered up and down Germany this summer 😉

28 Mar 2024 12:27:33
Marvelous ain't it, Ed7 can post "people who join the army are psychopaths who aren't wired up right to function in a normal civilised society. " Yet when you post a reply with an alterative view it gets binned.
My way or the highway Ed Putin strikes again. Like I said gutless. Thank god the WW2 generation saved us from tyranny
Hero's and Legends every one of them 🎈.

Agree1 0Disagree

{Ed007's Note - I'm starting to wonder if you're wired up right, you do know it was the USA and Russians that won the war and that D-Day was a failure, you do know all this surely or did you get your history lessons from Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon? I've no idea why you're starting on wee Vlad either.

{Ed007's Note - Never heard of the Azov Brigade? Just to be clear hear you think the Allies were in the right to crush the Nazi's in WW2 yet you're on the side of the Nazi regime in Ukraine?
It always confuses me why so many England fans are into Nazism, swastikas, England flags with the Totenkopf (Hitler's SS emblem) singing about 10 German bombers while racially abusing people and giving the Sieg Heil salute.
Maybe it's down to having a German royal family.}

28 Mar 2024 13:43:35
Well, when I worked at Central I was Sergeant on a shift of 12 of whom 7 were ex military. We were routinely known as “F” troop and included 2 paras and a Royal Marine who had served with in the Falklands. I can only say they were excellent coppers and outstanding human beings.

My Dad (RIP) a great bloke was a National Serviceman in the RAMC (the Medics). Bored with his posting to Folkestone he volunteered for the Korean War which was raging at the time and he was sent to somewhere in Scotland by train in the dead of winter for special training ( which apparently included being blown up in a house with his mates then having to dig their own way out? ). He remembered his train being stopped by heavy snow and having to walk on his own with backpack, rifle etc through the deep snow around a big curving bay to the training camp at the end of it.

He was a very handsome man, a double for Paul Newman with the same piercing blue eyes) and he told us that some Scottish ladies were leaning out of factory windows as he trudged on, wolf whistling and inviting him in out of the cold but he assures me he didn’t because he was engaged to my Mum.

Anyway, to cut a short story long (😁) the War ended as his training finished. Family legend has it that the Chinese had heard he was on the way and immediately surrendered! 😂😂😂.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed007's Note - The Chinese were on the US side fighting against Japan in WW2.}

28 Mar 2024 14:00:33
So now it's ok to kill innocent kids and elderly because Ukrainians are a nazi regime your argument is worthless and these soldiers that go out to fight for there families and countries and don't come home and leave there families without a son a dad a brother not forgetting the ladies soldiers that's there families fault for having a psycho is it unbelievable I would say your the racist one.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed007's Note - But it's ok for the Brits to go out killing & raping innocent women, children and the elderly?
Your argument doesn't even make any sense, there isn't one single British soldier fighting anywhere in the world that is helping to keep me or anyone I know safe and hasn't been for years. What about Russian families left without a son or dad, or do they not count?
As I said if you're stupid enough to volunteer to go and kill people while risking your own life it's not really a surprise when you find out the other side have weapons too, why is it a shock when soldiers are killed, their job is to kill or be killed.
Just imagine the levels of their stupidity of choosing that as a job.
You're backing a Nazi regime here btw and calling me racist 😂😂
Don't waste your time replying as you don't have the intelligence or morals to debate with me and I'm done with educating you, go and read something else apart from The Sun.}

Agree0 0Disagree

28 Mar 2024 15:40:12
I didn't ay he was a nice bloke but compared to MBS he's not that bad. MBS is killing innocent people in neighbouring Yemen like Putin but with our help. He beheads alleged criminals, mutilates, tortures and dismembers journalists, restricts the rights of gay people and women. There's a difference between needing an army to protect us and needing an army to protect oil prices which is what we used them for in Iraq and Libya. Or to protect our 'special one-sided relation' with the real terrorists of the world, the good ole U S of A. There's a fine between brave and stupid. That's when deciding to join the UK military.

The vultures are circling for MGW and Murrilo as summer transfer targets but I think that when we stay up they will want to stay and be part of our future

But both of them are crucial to our survival we need them to be at their best against Palace on Saturday as 3 pts are a must and the Londoners do not travel well

My team and formation to beat them on Saturday

Evening Skegs. I seem to remember reading that you have Bowie's mobile number? If so, can you please forward on the following to him for me? I would love to put this issue to bed and move on:

Hi Bowie. I'm sorry that I caused offence to you with my recent post. I thought I was being amusing, but obviously you didn't find it so. Lesson learnt on my part. I have always enjoyed your posts for some time before becoming a member of this site. You speak from the heart and I love that. No-one, particularly me, is trying to force you away from this site. Quite the opposite - the messages of support for you have been overwhelming. Please come back and let's re-boot and move on. Apologies again if I caused offence. Al (Legless).

I can't help thinking we've made a mistake appealing. On the one hand, I like the rebellious nature and will illustrate how broken everything is when relegation is decided post season the courts. On the other though, I can't help feeling we are going to get docked more points and it will weigh on the players minds when we need them focused. No such thing as a free hit and if anything, we've already seen how vindictive the PL can be and how penalties are made up on the spot. Hope I'm proven wrong.

Agree4 0Disagree

26 Mar 2024 18:18:36
Be our luck to get an additional deduction

Anyone see our wage bill, somewhere in region of 95mil a year! Puts us tenth in league on spend yet we in bottom 3.

Agree3 0Disagree

26 Mar 2024 19:24:30
I'm thinking the same way as you RSAN. I'm in two minds about this appeal too - but overall I'm erring on the side of the fact that we could be making a big mistake. Maybe it would have been best to take the points deduction 'on the chin', draw a line in the sand and then move on with everyone knowing where we stand.

26 Mar 2024 10:19:28
If the reports are true about sarri this is bad for maranakis Nuno hasn't helped himself with poor run and zero points but if your going for a new manager make sure you get him nunos definitely not going to be up for a fight now thinking he's going to be sacked so not good maranakis you might as well sack him now and let someone else step in total mess with 10 games to go and everyone needing to concentrate on what job needs doing.

Agree2 0Disagree

26 Mar 2024 14:07:51
All this about replacing the manager/ coach should have been left to the end of the season. Mr Marinakis trigger finger is itching, and at the moment we don't know if we will be in the Premier or Championship. If the championship, we may need a manager/ coach with a proven record of getting teams in the play-offs, I wonder where we could find such a man🤔🤔.

Agree5 0Disagree

26 Mar 2024 14:15:34
And what happens if the bloke gets us back up to premiership Barron back to square one because he can't cut it in premiership you really need to get past it mate you will never see the bloke back why maranakis owns the club thank god we should be concentrating on the future not the past 🙄🙄.

Agree1 0Disagree

26 Mar 2024 15:11:37
Yes Skegs, we should have been qualifying for Europe when we were restricted to spending less than all the other teams in the division. OBVIOUSLY! 🙄

Changing managers mid-season when we were not looking like going down, at risk to our position in the Prem, was definitely the sensible thing to do. OBVIOUSLY! 🤡.

Agree5 0Disagree

26 Mar 2024 15:16:25
Exactly right Barron. Why do it mid-season? Stupid decision. It makes you wonder how these guys who own clubs became billionaires. Surely they aren't all crooks using football to launder money? 🙃.

OMG, someone who doesn't know me doesn't like me! Just give it back but try to make it about what people post rather than personal nonsense and it's all just jokes and footy chat. Great distraction.
