Harsh bans for Nuno and Gibbs White, but with MGW he was probably not going to play this game so no great loss! As for Nuno I'm not sure that there is much difference if you can communicate from the stands? I would like to see consistency in the FA rulings, it's like saying that common sense still exists, it's a hope and memory of long lost beliefs!

Just wondering what a touchline ban actually means? Perhaps we could benefit from your usual expertise Ed 1. Obviously Nuno will pick the team and decide the tactical plan but can he communicate in real time to his bench regarding substitutions or other changes. For example is he allowed mobile phone or radio contact from the Executive box?
I remember reading somewhere that Jose Murinho ( Nunos mentor) was smuggled into Chelsea’s changing room in a laundry basket, gave his team talk then left the same way. …… I’m not for a minute advocating this …. ??????.
{Ed001's Note - the original idea was that they were not allowed contact, but that seems to have dropped away and they tend to be in constant contact now with the bench. It is really a pointless punishment now.}

Many thanks again Ed. I’ve always thought a coach could see more from the stands than at pitch level. I guess they need immediate control and consultation with the assistants, subs and match analysts. Plus, the players knowing the boss is watching them.
I remember years ago when Steve McClaren was coach of Forest in a third tier game when he left the dug out and spent a long time on the scaffolding ( no jokes about hanging himself please) of a building site of a stand being renovated but I can’t remember which ground.
{Ed001's Note - many coaches have spotters high up in the stands anyway. McClaren used to often watch the first half up high and then come down for half time and stay in the dug out second half.}
