And so to bed.
All you older reds will remember the the chopper bike, i highlighted as my number one xmas present and my mother, bless her probably got it on 2000 week terms now listen closely. The repair shop had a chopper bike in and totally repaired it. Now the bike was bought for two brothers. from a family struggling. And again brought me to tears, soft ar#e to see the love of what there parents brought to them. Now what i'm getting at is this. Its not the chopper bike that to this day brings the memories, but the thought and love my parents put into the simple machine to benefit my love of life. Forest are much the same you reds. don't look for players / extensions to grounds etc. And be happy with life and health the greek is such an easy way out, i see in a lot on here. Its not the owner to blame. But your dreams. And believe me there's nothing wrong with dreams. Just remember your health and that of your families is the utmost starting point of your day. Respect them around ya, never take them for granted. And thank you all reds for carrying me through a difficult year luv ya reds all the best ❤❤👍👍🎅.

My Chopper got "borrowed" by a so-called mate, and he rode it into the canal. Loved that bike as well. I should have asked for a new one this year. Sob, sob.

Hope everyone is well and families are safe this year. We all need next year to be an upgrade. Hopefully we will be in the Prem!

COYR!

Great post Bowie! I was blessed with the best of parents and a loving family home with 2 brothers and a sister. My Mum and Dad worked so hard. We were very lucky with bikes as my Dad worked as a welder at Raleigh. He once walked some massive concrete slabs on a pair of roller skates from Radford to Bestwood and made a coal bunker in our back yard from them. I later asked him how on earth he managed it and he said it was ok but the bit near Shippos at Basford was a bit tricky because of the cobbled streets! And, of course, he took me to the City Ground aged 9 and introduced me to the love of my life there ( no disrespect intended to either of my wives) the mighty Reds! What a journey that’s been eh mate?

Talking of Christmas presents my wife has just bought me a pair of tortoiseshell shoes. It took me 2 hours to walk out of the shop! ( I’ll get me jacket, sorry about that)!
I think Hull will be a tough proposition today. They are on a good run of form like us but at least they should be set up, like us, to counter attack so that gives us a chance to have a go.
We need to score first otherwise it could be an anxious grinding game like Peterborough and Luton. Coyr!

Bowie your a lovely soppy git, but I understand exactly what you are saying mate, my mum what a fantastic woman, I lost my dad when I was only nine he was killed in a accident late November and I had asked for a bike for Christmas, you guessed it with all the stuff she must’ve had on that December the bike was ther on Christmas morning, from then on she went without to make sure I didn’t. I know most mothers would try to do the same, but this was my mum and I’m so happy and proud to say that, family first every time mate 👍, sod me Bowie your making me as soppy as you are, I’ll be crying in my pint soon. 🍺
Hard fort 2-0 win for the lads this afternoon Bowie, happy days 🤣.

Cant thank you all enough for such brilliant replys lads, so sorry to hear about your old man dreamteam mate. I guess i do get sloppy at times. But what i always try to get over to people especially the younger people on here is the respect parents deserve. don't just have them around at xmas or there birthdays etc. Visit them as much as possible. And listen to them. don't just go through the motions. My mother and father died of cancer. Neither seeing there pensions bless them. What i'd give for just one day with them. And stokey loved the tortoise joke 😂😂😂 redcyclist i may come ovwr soft but if anyone done that to my chopper they'd have followed it in. Tied to two shopping trolleys. Thanks again reds .3-1 forest 👌.

Great post Bowie and as we are of a certain age our Christmases would have been similar. From a family of eight and brought up in a steel town I lived my whole childhood in shorts and hand me downs, the town was rough even the milk float had a rear gunner😂.

My dad used to send me to the shops for a tin of tartan paint and a jar of elbow grease. But he made me my first bike. Xmas was magic in our house and those memories drive me on every day.

Life is about the simple things and kindness to all….you never know what people are living with when we are impatient, kindness should be a given. Merry Xmas all
