The problems they tried to address:

1. Keep our best players. Success! Caveat being that means financial fair play restricts spending.

2. Full backs. Not enough experience/ numbers. Drago is an experienced player, Spence has experience at THIS LEVEL and is young enough to improve. We also have Desmond (Tutu) if he is ever fit. Success! Caveat, Drago not played in England before, so may not settle quickly.

3. Midfield 2 too static and not creating enough. The Paraguayan is a definite attempt to add technical ability, passing and mobility to the midfield 2. Not sure whether he will adapt to the English game quickly enough. We already re-signed Garner who we KNOW can help. The Jury is out but promising.

4. Lack of goals up front. No idea whether the signing of a promising former youth international will help. We dodged a bullet in Maja. Risking FFP rule breaches to sign, an injury prone player, would have been STUPIDITY BEYOND BELIEF. We should play Mighten up front against slower defenders. Think Michael Owen. Mighten is our best finisher in my opinion.

My opinion. We kept our best players. No way could we replace them if we sold in our current league position. We have signed players who should improve and have tried to address the issues with the squad.

The problem. Hughton is too predictable. We are bored with watching paint dry. If the team don't start picking up wins then we are in for a battle.

Pick up wins now and we can still have a decent season and develop our promising young squad. Many of us have been wanting the club to do this for years. is Hughton the right man to do that?

My take is if Hughton doesn't get wins, then we already have the perfect boss for the transitional phase for the next two seasons. Gary Brazil!

GK: Horvath, Samba

RB: Spence, Desmond, Back

LB: Max Lowe, Spence,

CB: McKenna, Worrall, Soh, Figs, Fernandes

DM/ CM: Garner, Yates, Odeja, Colback, Cafu

AM: Zinkernegal, Silva (yes, not really a striker), Johnson, Lolley, Mighten, Carvalho (! )

STR: Taylor, Grabone (every ten games), Silva (? ), Mighten (I hope)

Desperately need the strikers to get good service and hit form.

totally agree.
the remmit recently has been to reduce the bloated squad and reduce the average age. Made big in roads to that end and 5 more of bomb squad will be gone next June.
Many have advocated we take a risk on young hungry players. well with the academy products coming through and these signings we may just unearth a gem or two. No matter we haven't heard of them, we aren't in the know re world football. We had heard of Arter, Freeman and look what happened there.
Agree a good striker would have been nice but everyone is looking for them. i'm just hoping that we now have the creativity to atleast create some chances for front lads, putting them away is another matter.
Re Tunisian lad. Dad Gereman, brought up in Germany and played in their top two leagues so culture shock/ climate should not be an issue.

Fair post, RC. don't agree with Mighten being a top finisher and not sure he's got the tools to play CS, with the exception of his pace, but agree with the rest. Good stuff.

Maja failed a medical yesterday by all accounts, which is why it didn't go through. I see he didn't join WBA either, so perhaps there is an issue with his condition and it's good that it's been spotted.

Perko, it would be funnier if it wasn't true.

Wonky, Mighten's stats regarding finishing are VERY good. Better goals per min ratio that Grabbon, Taylor etc. He also gets more on target per shot and more goals per chance than both. That is his stats playing from outside the striker position. It might not work, but his pace against slower players could be devastating. We won't find out if we don't give it a try. If Brazil comes in then expect to see Mighten scoring goals.

Trent, if you're right about Drago then he should be able t do the job. He is not inexperienced so.

Completely agree with giving mighten a run up front. The only problem with that is CH will have to adapt tactics and we all know that's never going to happen.
