With the young players we have got coming through, and also the senior players who want to play for the club, I believe we do not need any new players. Defence and midfield we are sound, and surely Grabban and Taylor cannot be as bad as last season.

It all depends what our ambitions are. Settle for lower mid-table and a flirt with relegation or challenge higher up the table. There are no guarantees that all of the youngsters will come good. The defence may have been solid last season but we have lost Christie and Ribeiro and could well lose Worrall before the window closes. Midfield was solid defensively but no where near creative enough going forward. That’s why Grabban and Taylor struggled because they didn’t get much service. I don’t think we need lots of signings but I would certainly feel happier if we could attract 3 or 4 championship quality players to add to the mix. That might give the younger players the opportunity to develop without pressure being heaped on them.

I agree with both of you, with the lads returning from loans there is no guarantee they will come good or if they do will it be for the whole season. But what they hopefully will do is give the club breathing space to pick up new players after the season has started and in the Jan transfere window.

We need a winger, number 10, striker and a LB and RB. That is 5 players. I think they want Clark from spurs on loan and are expecting an attacking player from Man U (maybe along with Garner) . If correct then we still need three signings.

If we don't get a number 10 or striker then we are going to have to pray that Carvalho has a good few months before January and Grabban and/ or Taylor get decent service and also pick up their form. Grabban in particular was useless last season.

I'm counting 6 players needed. Both fullback positions, a No6,a No8, a winger and a quality striker. Other than that I think we have more of the same from last season.
