Lolley
Brice Samba
McKenna
Colback
In my opinion if the above nucleus of players keep fit and play out of their skins then I believe we have a chance of a respectable season. I've not included Worrall as I suspect he might be sold (if it's for £10/ 11M then probably not bad business) . I think we might see a lot more from Colback this season? Yates has reached his ability level and probably won't improve (hopefully keep his headers on target! ) . Grabban is finished. Lolley is our best player by a long way a needs to be looked after (like Martin O'Neil started to) . A fit and on form Lolley would walk into any of the bottom half Premier League teams - we are lucky to have him. If Hughton starts keeping him on the bench or playing him out of position consistently then Hughton should go.

McKenna is the only one on that list that is any good, Colback is done, Lolley is to injury prone and Samba is a flapper.

Lyle Taylor could be some good given a chance.

With the right service there is still a good season in Lewis Grabban ,still in excellent condition for his age ,obviously looks after himself .
Also needs confidence, hope he doesn’t read our site.

Hope Grabban does read the site Carlo and it drives him on to prove people totally wrong - I'll happily clean his boots for him if he scores 16 goals and creates 10? Hope Colback doesn't read it 😀.

Red hot red, I’ve always said colback is the best dm we have, gets plenty of ridicule on here but just my opinion,

Stevie f mate the lad is over paid for the job he's supposed to do. How can you say the lad is good with eyes in the back of his head, i actually find the lad a joke. Geordies couldn't believe what we done.

Stevie f my friend i apologise to come over as negative. Iv'e if you seen any of my past comments have never liked taylor, not through his abilities but his confidence. And he's well overpaid for having none. Colback, another to which battled none stop in his loan spell. But once got the golden egg, played the easy ball which is back. Maybe it came with his training. Its forward football is all i ask mate.

I don't think Colback is any worse than the average defensive midfielder at passing back. At times our midfield/ forwards didn't exactly show themselves or make themselves available for a pass causing him to have to pass back or sideways to avoid being tackled. that's what we need to do more, play for each other and help eachother.
I know its a different standard but watching the Euros, Spain, Italy, France and Portugal regularly passed back and along the back line to keep possesion. Not exciting to watch but if executed well very effective.

Trentender Think people tend to forget what a dm’s job is, basically to break up opponents play and pass it to someone better than them, as I’ve said on here before, i don’t remember John McGovern playing many defence splitting forward passes,

We do not want average Championship players, a defensive midfielders job is to get the ball and pass the ball to someone in front of them, where possible, not to make defence splitting passes, though if the were to all the better.

Why be sheep and follow the trend when you can be trendsetters.

Nordic Irish sadly above average championship players cost a lot of money, not sure we’re in that market anymore, Think well be relying heavily on the academy, the parachute payment mob will be hovering up all the better players available,

We need to be looking at players that might step up from abroad, and the lower leagues even though that is a gamble.

Average Championship players are not the answer, and we are out of the market for above average Championship players as you rightly mentioned.

Colback is in a comfort zone of being paid big bucks by Newcastle without playing.
He settled for that and wasted his career.

Myself i look for a midfielder to bring the young kids through, a man that can step up and take the reigns. A hero that can play the ball forward . somebody we can look up to . We need heros . We need to believe again. Most of all we need balls again .

Colback will be important this season. Try not to write him off before pre season.

I agree fully Redtree also i can see our young guns ie Johnson, Gabriel, konte and fornah and may be a few others that preformed poorly last season due to whatever will have an important part to play this season.
Keep the faith times of change are on the way.

Lolley is a great player. He might stay fitter now he has had his operation. Colback might do a Watson yet too. neither are anywhere near as bad as some of you guys think, in my opinion.
