So southgate has been given a bit stick even though he took the lads to the final, remembering nobody ever wants the England job (from what i can gather) my question is this reds.
Who would you have as next England manager?

Good question bowie and i don't think you need to look elsewhere, for on paper Southgate has done exceptionally well. Not my cup of tea as he is an FA stooge. However he conducts himself well has encorporated youth and i believe he is a man of dignity and integrity.
If he continues to learn and blends in a bit more experience, developing a more expansive style of play and recognises his errors then no reason why he should not continue. As you say its a poison chalice.

Thing is bowie as much i think southgate is a stooge if you look at the viewing figures and how a lot of non footballing people engaged with England you have to say southgwte took the nation with him. The dust has settled now and looking at the big picture, even for me who disagrees with many issues around southgate he deserves recognition and credit.
However if he dies not learn and change then from a footballibg perspective he may have peaked.
Mourhino is a great shout. He loves England and has that edge. He may upset a few but he is made for this arena and would get the very best from this pool of players. A bit like cloughie whom the FA would be very wary of.

I would respectfully request that the FA look at Hughtonosaurus in the vain hope that they take him away to pastures new. With a whole country’s worth of talent available he could then complete his dream of fielding 10 defenders and a keeper in his 10-0-0 formation.

No brainer Houghton for England.

Just heard Ethans interview he sounds like a top bloke comes across well and seems eager for success really good signing IMO as samba has had some howlers but as also made some great saves, hopefully Ethan can be more consistent and push samba for the number 1 position.
Bowie HM was a proper shout but steve evans is my number one shout for England manager 😉🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿👍.

For me I would take someone like Howe or maybe even Dyche. Both have done solid jobs with little budget and elevated pretty average teams to higher levels. The other guy I think would elevate us is Rodgers.

Southgate is an FA man who has not skeletons hiding or illicit affairs in the offing . He, however had easy opposition both to the final of the Euros and the World Cup . Germany were not the Germany we know but about the only team of note we have beaten . Losing against Belgium and Spain . The lads gave a great account of themselves but in the end, football is like a game of Chess . Mancini out flanked Southgate it wasn’t the players that let him down . If let’s a pawn to advance it’s weaker than a knight etc .
For me, he should fall in his sword and resign . Can anyone out there imagine we will do better in Quatar. Our luck will not hold and he will need managerial guile which he does not have eg not playing Sancho or Grealish
My choice is Brendon Rogers a successful manager in the premier league.

Yes Southgate got a lot of stick before the competition started reminds me a bit of our manager let's hope Houghton makes the forest fans eat humble pie like Southgate as some of the England fans 😜.
