Here’s a thought finish the season now nobody relegated or promoted
Start the new season in the positions the teams are now and the same points and the same squads so basically it’s a prolonged season all prize money frozen so nobody gains financially and all the hard work of the teams are not thrown away
Thoughts?

Sounds ok Fred BUT the fixture list will have been unbalanced, some teams will have played the weaker teams twice, and the stronger teams only once, best just scrap it and start again, when the situation allows.

I think they need to complete the season and have a shorter season next year, ie only play each other once.

Maybe football could have a special cup competition to recognise those unsung people that the government seem to ignore in this pandemic, the poor low paid social carers who have to go to work and risk getting infected or infecting the elderly and vulnerable that they may have been caring for for a number of years and grown quite attached to.

If the season can't be finished by 30th june which it can't anyway then it has to be cancelled.
Players contracts are up some clubs have changed shirt manufacturers after that and we know already that lockdown is into may.
Players would then need testing and the government would have to relax the number of people in gatherings to 100.
So then if all clubs had no signs of the virus they could start playing?
Testing hasn't exactly been fast in the nhs so you'll be looking at quite some time to get that done.
Then if a club or a couple of clubs contract the virus there would be postponements.
Its just not going to happen imo.
Next season won't happen for spectators to attend so put their efforts into next seasons strategy.

Even if it takes 2 years for covid 19 to be sorted to the degree sports can resume this season must be finished then start a new season given plenty of time of rest from this season.

With you completely on this Football Waits. Surely one season completed is better than 2 disrupted. It would make more sense to me if anything to scrap next season to get things back on track. This season needs finishing at the first opportunity. Contracts, sponsorships etc are issues to be sorted by clubs and agents and shouldn’t determine what’s best for football in general. What needs to happen is the money at the top of the football pyramid is filtered down through the leagues to stop small clubs going bust.

To scrap next season would be the end of football altogether perks.

Football was banned by King Edward lll but came back, football has changed in different ways since its beginning, it has evolved if you prefer not having the new season untill a whole year after this season closes would not finish football.

Football will have to change/ evolve again because of this enforced break that could well be for the better, so missing a season will not end football altogether.

King edwards are good spuds a season without football, albeit behind closed doors would end it.
Trust me.

How can any buisness survive a whole year without income perks?
You tell me?
Other than the elite, clubs struggle to survive losing 39 million over three years.

And why do they lose so much money?

Ff79 - last time I looked only about half of the prem or elite clubs made any money, I appreciate ‘clever’ accountancy may blur these figures but is there really all this excess money floating around for the clubs? Obscene wages should and could be limited and that could allow a lot of clubs to be financially viable rather than just 7 or 8 prem clubs.

Because players salaries exceed what clubs can afford.
If you have no season then there is no sponsorship, no tv revenue, no advertising revenue and one thing they won't get next season, no matchday revenue.
You do the maths.
