To repeat a theme on here that we have signed no players yet. So no unforced errors just yet then. Phew.
We all want success and a team to be proud of. We need at least 5 new brave characters to elevate this team. But thanks to us having the biggest squad over the recent years and many of them not fit to wear the shirt, we are in a very tight spot. No crowds last season has financially damaged many clubs.

Our wage bill will have been crippling last season so the finances are obviously delicate. Do we rely on Mr M to just shell out a few more million or do we do things sensibly and keep our heads above water. I will reiterate that no news is good news and that all the paper talk is just that. I firmly believe that the club will be doing their business under the radar and we will be in a better place come August.
The revolving door is jammed, thankfully.

I agree that the revolving door should remain firmly closed. But we do need some quality reinforcements if we are going to improve on last season’s 17th position. If we don’t get those signings we will have to rely on a number of other things happening, some of which are more likely than others. Samba must rediscover the form he showed when he first joined us. All of the youngsters that have been out on loan must have good first Championship seasons. Worrall must stay or be replaced with a reliable partner for McKenna. Carvalho must finally show us that he is the number 10 we have been lacking. Lolley must rediscover his best form and stay injury free. Grabban and and/ or Taylor (if he is still with us) must rediscover their goal touch.

As I say, some of these are more likely than others. But if we do not get sufficient reinforcements we need a good few of these to happen. If not, I can only see another season of struggle.

Agree completely with your sentiments Red but think it unlikely all of the youngsters will hit the ground running, certainly not to the point of denting the play off places. I fear Carvalho is unable to step up to the physical demands of the Championship and had a poor season on loan. I am more hopeful that Lolley will continue to return to his best form that he was beginning to show prior to his injury. He has been back in training for some time now so he could be like a new signing hopefully. I think we must all put aside top 6 place and concentrate on reducing the bloated squad of average and below average players and begin building for the future.

Young rah. I hope so too. I feel for lolley as he is a battler and can drive the team. His best days were when cash was alongside him. But his injuries are dragging him back and i think insurmountable. But we can hope. The bloated squad will take time to rinse out and freshen up, but hughton, at this moment is the experienced head we need. Long term he might be limited but for now and stability he is more than ok.

I prefer the revolving door and hughton going out it.

Yep would make an exception for that Ff.

To be replaced by whom? Someone else to jump on the merry-go-round and leave by the same revolving door in 12-months time? Come on folks, let’s get real. We all crave success but Hughton deserves a proper chance given his promotion record elsewhere. I agree with Rutland in that longer term he may well have limitations but right now he’s a steady hand on the tiller. Let him shape his squad and then judge him but don’t blame him for the here and now!

so far nobody has got under the radar and if they are going to get a proper pre season they need to be counting em in soon.

Thank you RedOctober for a welcome rose of realism.
