Apparently Forest are trying to sign Dion Charles from Accrington Stanley.

He is a left footed, striker/ forward. Scored 19 goals in league one this season, is 25 years of age and recently broke into the Northern Ireland squad.

If he has pace I'd say that looks like a good signing if we are willing to put up the money. His contract is about to end. They have a one-year option for another year so will probably cost £1.5M plus add-ons.

Apparently he presses high which would probably suit Hughton.

worth a try, forget prem cast offs, they have to much money and are not botherd, [ colback, knockers], mid 20s from div 3 why not.

You say that, but you only have to look at Lyle Taylor as an example of lower league players out of their depth in the Championship.

Murdock, if we had said that about Birtles, Collymore, Keane we would have a much worse history.

Buy few of these then even if one does well you get a profit when you sell them later. Look at Brentford and Peterborough. Develop players, give them games. Make a profit or get promotion. That is the formula.

With our record of developing players we are attractive to younger players and should be in with a shout.

Taylor is 30 or 31 and wanted a good payday. He’s a decent striker but nothing more.
Signing a 25 year old shows ambition imo as he’ll want to prove himself at championship level. For the right price could be a great bit of business.

Hopefully if Taylor stays he will do a bit better next season. He looks ok apart from not scoring enough haha.

Taylor needs offloading spends all his time falling down and his arms up in the air wanting the ref to explain why he didn't get a foul.
Bad signing which i said at the time.
Bought because he played one good game against us.

Agreed RC, bought because of the goals he scored in League one and the Championship for Charlton, decent striker at this level if given service.

Captain downer strikes again:)

To some extent I agree that Taylor has been a huge disappointment but let’s be honest the service he has had has been woeful. We could play Ronaldo up front- if the ball doesn’t arrive to him in the correct areas then he won’t score. No creativity, pace or guile in the side . That’s the truth wether we like Taylor or not.

That's a terrible comparison to make RC. The players you mention all clearly had the talent and ability and you could see that. Taylor scores 14 goals in the twighlight of his career, I'm afraid we bought the hype rather than anything else.

We should have given walker more time just my opinion he's still scored more than our forwards even though injured for a chunk of the season but his problem was playing in a sh#t team and all the expectation was on him to save us poor lad, read as well that landsbury has been let go by Bristol fans said he was pants I tend to agree with them he had the odd good game when here another player who thought he was better than he was again just my opinion.

Walker made thirty one appearances but only fourty four percent of those were in the starting eleven.

He scored seven times and made three assists.

Forest did not make much money from him so it was not a case of selling him to balance the books, it does not make sense why he was not given at least until January of last term to prove himself.

FF79. Tellingly Taylor's got a far better goals per game/ minute ratio than your mate Grabban. Are you sure you aren't sulking 'cos you were completely and utterly wrong to back keeping Grabban last summer? Grabban cost us so many points this season. Even when he got 20 goals he was the most likely main striker in the division to miss an "on a plate" chance.

Hughton favours certain players even when the evidence points to them being dropped. I hope - if he stays which doesn't look a certainty yet to me - the worrying trend stops. Sharpish!

I totally agree with you guys about Walker. He did score when given a chance, we sell him and can't score goals. Stupid decision.

I predict Kyle Taylor will come good given a run of games. He’s got a difficult job atm with being the lone striker and woeful midfield support.

Thats Lyle Stokey, but agree, he needs support and service.

Murdock, I didn't compare Taylor to those players. I used them as an example of why it is BS to talk about League 1 players not being worth looking at.

I feel sorry for any forward playing for us under hughton red cyclist.
Taylor isn't the answer and a league one player.

Taylor may not be the answer. Your mate Grabban is on more wages and is worse.

Sorry to say lads but until we get the team playing as a unit from back to front through midfield and creating good chances, no forwards no matter who they are will score goals for us, we just don’t cause other teams any trouble either through the middle or out wide. We are so easy to defend against because we don’t have any danger. Grabbon, Taylor, Walker, Charles, Ronaldo, Birtles, Woodcock even Collymore, would struggle to score goals with last season’s set up and personal .
All we need is a tight defence, which we almost have, a midfield that we surely don’t have, to good wingers that can cross a football properly, and a good young hungry striker to push Grabbon and Taylor all the way, out of the club if they don’t improve sharpish . Were we find thoes midfield players though is anybody’s guess, Johnson maybe the start.
