It is alleged we are after James McClean from Stoke.

That would be because he's an Irish International chosen by MON to play for the national side. He knows the player, and what the lad can do, begorrah.

I'd love it if we got him just to stick it up all those fans that gave him a hard time for not wearing the poppy 😂🤣😂😋

3.) 18 Jan 2019
18 Jan 2019 19:37:57
There are quite a few who do not fully understand his reasoning for taking such a stance.

4.) 18 Jan 2019
18 Jan 2019 20:15:59
That's his problem though Sgetty and I have read it,but sport is sport and politics and religion are for the players to keep to themselves,if you come to these shores and want to make a living from us,then we wouldn't be here but for the brave soldiers,one of which was my dad,hadn't fought for freedom against the Nazis.
Like I say politics and belief should be a private matter and not broadcast,lots of people lose loved ones in many different ways,being bitter about it and passing it on through generations is not the cure.
Just daying

He’s a wind up merchant. I remember him trying to wind up the crowd when he played for Wigan, I also remember the times when he called his own fans idiots. I personally don’t care that he doesn’t wear a poppy but I do not like him as a person, but we aren’t after the person we’re after the footballer, and he’s a bloody good one!

Has no problem taking English pay ,Don,t want him here .
CARLO

{Ed007's Note - So a UK citizen born and working in the UK shouldn't be taking 'English pay'? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 James McClean has paid more in British taxes than you ever will earn your life time. People slagging James McClean while celebrating Martin O'Neill's appointment and wanting Keane back is just irony off the scale.}

I remember meeting Larry Lloyd about 25 years ago. He was arrogant and condescending! That still doesn't detract from the fact that he was and still is a footballing hero to me.It does not mean I have to like him.

8.) 18 Jan 2019
18 Jan 2019 22:25:23
They are both Catholic edd and I didn't care less about religion and just because he pays more in tax than we will ever earn is a great insult from you,as we don't get that chance,so get off your high horse,leave the politics and religion out of it and get on with football,not that you will print this

{Ed007's Note - It's not me that's deviated things away from football - what's a poppy got to do with football? And what has 'taking English pay' got to do with anything? maybe McClean should just 'go home' eh?}

9.) 18 Jan 2019
18 Jan 2019 22:33:33
It's worth remembering 007 we are often dealing with Philistines.

{Ed007's Note - That's being polite lol.}

18 Jan 2019 22:43:47
Thanks edd like I say I didn't start it and I hate sectarism as you put it,religion has no place and politics either for me in football,sad that it brings out the worst in people.
Black ,white,pink it makes no odds,as blue mink once sang,what the world needs is a great big melting pot,big enough to take the world and all its got.
No one benefits in the long run though if you can't forgive.

If I remember right a poppy is a symbol of sleep and peace and to remember the dead mainly from world war 1 where football was played Xmas eve I think between people that were killing each other before and after that game but for a hour or so football became a friendly kick about and bought together enemies .so I would say football was kind of involved with the world war 1 as is the poppy but as in any walk of life and even on this site everybody as different opinions and everybody is different and have there own beliefs so for me if McLean as is own reason for not wearing a poppy then that's is decision because of his reasons and his belief I where my poppy every year with pride that's my belief now let's talk football it brings everyone together 😆

12.) 19 Jan 2019
18 Jan 2019 23:42:39
McLean would not consider himself a uk citizen, hence his representation of the Irish republic, he appears to hate everything about the uk except the high wages in the English football system

13.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 03:12:11
Puzzles me that people even on here think the Poppy is either a religious or political symbol. They are neither. It’s a symbol of remberance.

14.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 09:22:44
Sgetty / ed if your accusing me of being a ‘philistine’ that’s your prerogative, I don’t know your background and vice versa maybe some on here have more reason to despise what McLean supports than others

{Ed033's Note - It's all opinions. My view is that we shouldn't let the politically correct ones shut down freedom of opinion, freedom of speech by using 'magical' spell words.

Carlo,
All that matters is any player does the business on the field and does nothing that constitutes gross misconduct in his employment contract.

I'll wager anyone IF he ever ended up playing for us and scored the winning goal in a play off final he would become a hero and Forest legend?

16.) 19 Jan 2019

I am seriously concerned about some of the names that McClean has been called by some posters on this site.

Carlo is entitled to his opinion.

Sgetty why? You should have tried patrolling the streets of the area where he comes from as a British soldier name calling I can assure you would have been the least of your problems,

Boys let it go,there are only losers in this thread,we all have an opion but life is short and we all say things and make mistakes,it's called being human and none of us are perfect,although I'm very close,lol😉😉

Red in Brazil thanks mate glad someone does maybe some people on here should check out the picture of McLean with his Wigan training top attached to which is a badge of a terrorist organisation hope to god we never see that on a forest top, but that’s my last word on him now.

25.) 19 Jan 2019
19 Jan 2019 23:38:29
Seriously mate. didn't see that. let's be honest about this, the Irish, sweaty socks and taffs hate us. let's not kid ourselves

Like as been said wearing a poppy is to me neither religious or nationalistic just a mark of respect to the fallen and injured in various conflicts , plus nearly every family has had family involved in these conflicts ,least we should forget and learn , nothing more .

Well I for one can say i will not be attending the City Ground again if we do sign him until the day he leaves. Anyone who is happy to ply his trade and take the money from a country he hates so much, quote Bobby Sands, list Martin McGuiness as one of his heroes and list 'Broad black brimmer' as one of his favourite songs ain't going to get anything from me.
