Rumours that the 'Kuwait City Ground Stadium' deal could be worth up to £500,000,000 over 10 years. If this happens. do you reckon it will stop the moaners about the name change ed?

nffctrickett

{Ed034's Note - if it happens I'll add 'Kuwait' to the front if my name. Can't see it being this at all

1.) Just read the reported conversation. If that's right then this club will be catapulted up towards and in amongst the big boys before too long. let's wait and see though, best to be cautious till the facts come out.

2.) That sort of sum would be crazy, let's hope it's true

3.) It's not beyond the bounds of possibility! £500m over ten years is £50m per year. Etihad's sponsorship of the CoM stadium is £40m per year and that deal was done 3 years ago. I know we're not in the same league (yet!) but don't forget our money is coming from an entire country, not just an airline ;-) Just saying, it COULD be true :-)

4.) 28 Jul 2014 11:40:41
There are a lot of rumours going aound, I belive the original source is a credible journalist who has contacts in the Middle East. Seems a lot though. I have heard rumours about significant investment in stadium redevelopent form another source over the weekend, the two could be lnked, mabe be not to the tune of £500m though.

5.) This, I think, is a bit of a conundrum.

On one hand, you have the optimist, £50m a year to Kuwait is nothing, 10 year renaming and investment deal in the UK seems plausible and NFFC's links to Kuwait through Fawaz make it believable.

On the other hand, the pessimist. £50m a year for a Championship team? Really? £500m over 10 years. That takes us in to the PL big boys territory.

Maybe Fawaz and the Kuwaiti Government want to emulate Manchester City and don't want to wait. Buy the best players, in effect buy the title and get the Reds to where we belong.

I for one will accept what help and investment the Kuwaiti Government will offer to Forest as it will all help and if this means 'buying' titles then so what. If it's good enough for Chelsea and Manchester City then it's good enough for us.

COYR!

6.) Keep the faith kuwaited034

{Ed034's Note - let's hope lol

7.) I agree with KuwaitEd034.

Unlikely to be that amount, surely?

8.) Hope on top of that miserly sum they're paying for the shirt logo. lol

9.) The airline is essentially owned by the State. If there is any truth in this deal then what has happened at City would be happening with Forest.

It sounds too good to be true.

10.) Sounds like a lot of money, a bit wild!
But bring them in, yeah!

11.) Matt this can't be true mate just stop and think about it we are not in the prem we are not in the champions league that's what brings in the big sponsorship money we are a team in the 2nd tier of English football £500m is the kind of money Manchester United would get if they sold the naming rights to old trafford not in a million years is this true.

12.) We need to see the report and the names of the people involved in this story we take them seriously.

13.) Yes sum fans would still moan, they'd want a billion, COYR

14.) The Kuwaiti Jorno is apparently, the beebs go-to guy for information during Al-Hasawi's ownership of NFFC; so far he's been a reliable source; let's wait and see, 10days he says!

15.) Rumours have it that fawaz is talking to 4 major sponsors so this may be the first of good news. Maybe a new ground could be in the pipeline

{Ed034's Note - fawaz has said a few times he does not want to leave and is looking at the main stand

16.) 50 million over ten years sounds more realistic to me.5 million a year would still be a big sponsorship.

17.) The reporter from Kuwait stated that it will be half a billion pounds over 10 years, surely we can be premiership bound with that kind of backing, although I seem to remember all too often that money doesn't always guarantee success

18.) The reality is that Forest isn't worth that amount - in nottingham. However, fawaz target audience are obviously the 2 million soccer starved kuwsiti's. What's it worth to them, having a team they can call their own competing (albeit eventually) with Europes elite? This is the market where money can be made.

{Ed034's Note - exactly and I don't think a lot of fans realise that

19.) Remember the old saying" if it's to good to be true". I reckon something has got lost in all these talks and interviews and the actual figure is £50 million over ten years. Still a good figure for a championship club that has not been anywhere near the Premiership in over a decade.

How ever if it is half a billion over ten years then that is one hell of a deal done by Fawaz and Premiership here we come. January transfer window should be fun!!.

20.) Weve spent more than any championship club over the last 12 years. and we still can't win a playoff. joking apart what's good for the club. has my backing.FTD

{Ed034's Note - just to make sure, you are joking about the money aren't you?

21.) To put the fee into context, Derby County recently sold the naming rights of Pride Park too sports drink manufacturer iPro for £7 million over 10 years, 1. 4% of Forests supposed fee. An even more disturbing comparison is Arsenal who struck an extension deal for naming rights with the Emirates in 2012 worth £150m over 5 years.

22.) Ed, it's looking increasingly likely that you will soon be known as Kuwaiti Ed as there are more and more rumours coming out from Kuwait that this deal could soon become reality. You Reds!

{Ed034's Note - I said if the deal was for the £500m mentioned

23.) Yeah come on, let's be realistic. Counting your chickens and all that. Until its posted officially I'm taking all this with a pinch of salt.

24.) 28 Jul 2014 19:29:02
Can I just make a point? Please, correct me if I am wrong but doesn't Nottinghamshire County Council still own the City Ground? If so I would imagine that they would love a large portion of sponsorship of a ground they own? I wouldn't get too excited just yet.

{Ed034's Note - they own the ground the city ground stands on, but they do not own the city ground and have nothing to do with the name of it

25.) 28 Jul 2014 19:42:36
Cheers ed. Wasn't sure how that may work.

{Ed034's Note - no worries

26.) Id swap all this for 3 points against blackpool we havnt beaten em in ages and now they have signed that bloke from a differant planet c)f (a or wot ever his name is

27.) Just come in from specsavers and that amount is still there.

If it turns out to be true Fawaz deserves the freedom of the city award

28.) Kuwait is one of the richest countries in the world per capita. Fawaz is clearly a great businessman and has had his sites on making nffc a household brand in Kuwait since buying the club. This deal is huge and seems out of proportion but the truth is it isn't. Being in the Prem would make this deal a lot easier but let's just hope Fawaz has pulled it off. Why would a well respected journo make up something so audacious.

29.) It's worth noting the journo says he thinks it will be at least 500m. Could we dream of it being even more.

30.) There may we be a clause in there that if we are promoted, the figure per year could rise! Let's wait and see. Ed was I the first to mention an massive figure? I mentioned a few days ago the deal would be the best in English football history that I heard from a mate of mine associated with another football club.

{Ed034's Note - I don't recall mate, sorry

31.) 28 Jul 2014 21:19:07
What is happening with Silva is he still on trial

32.) 28 Jul 2014 21:21:15
Don't believe for one minute this is true anybody who'd invest 500m in a championship club who aren't guaranteed premier

33.) Cannot see this being true at all, maybe £5 million, not £500 million.
Off course it`s going to happen. We`re just that lucky ;)

34.) Are we sure that the figure is not in Kuwait currancy which would make most of us millionaires lol

{Ed034's Note - do you know the exchange rate??

35.) Will it mean we can have some decent burgers at half time then maybe?

36.) Hi Ed to my knowledge 2. 08 dinars to the GB £, blimey even if that was the case it would still be 250 million lol!!

{Ed034's Note - other way round pal

37.) Ed the dinar is 1 dinar = £2 therefore it would be a billion

{Ed034's Note - I believe you are right bags

38.) Now you say it that way it really is possible. 250m Kuwaiti Dinar is chump change in the back pocket for a group of wealthy sheiks.

39.) I recall an interesting story from last summer. How much would it cost to part own the land from Nottingham City Council, redevelop the main stand and also change the roof on BC stand and part fill the corner between BC and Trent End?

This should still leave a few hundred million to buy players?

Surely the deal must also include shirt sponsorship?

{Ed034's Note - the deal includes ground and shirt sponsorship

40.) The name change was on the cards from day one; anybody buying a football club these days would be interested in the exposure of branded properties.

I'm in favour of change. We need to reinvigorate the club and stop reassuring ourselves by past achievements. The last 10 years + have been really wearing on us fans. We get a new squad and manager each season and instantly assume promotion is in our hands. The reality is that we will lose games and new signings may turn into boo boys. Indeed we could get promotion too, but I say that with a bit of balance having watched Burnley, Southampton, Wigan, Norwich, Hull, Blackpool, Swansea and Reading overstep us with a fraction of what we have.

I think that it's good to see that we are starting to move with the times.

{Ed034's Note - I don't see how having the stadium called 'the city ground' has held us back

41.) I'm not sure his point was the the city ground has held us back, the main message I got from the above post is we do have to move with the times, but with no guarantee it will work out - we are always in the top half of the champ in terms money spent, but are still here, whilst others have a spent a fraction of our budget and out achieved us. I'm all for the sponsorship and the cash, but will stay realistic about going up anytime soon - every yr in the champ you get a surprise promotion - hoping it's our turn this season, but won't be too aggrieved/surprised if we don't make it

42.) What makes us attractive is history!
Doesn't matter how bad things have been recently, history doesn't change! we have done it! there's only handful of clubs who have 2stars on their shirts, and we're fortunate to of done it! but it's nice to think one day we could be challenging and making new history.

Rafik Djebbour is being courted by his former club AEK Athens. Forest want to get rid ASAP and are willing to pay him off so he can leave on a free as it is said he could be on, wait for it. £30,000 A WEEK!

nffctrickett

1.) 23 Jun 2014 11:49:33
Never had a chance. Up front on his own in a country he has never played in. Then everyone got on his back.

2.) Get shot of him, wouldn't have payed him 30 quid nevermind 30,000

3.) I still don't think BD had much of a say in this signing

4.) By all accounts he is a bad influence in the dressing room! SP will not want players like that!

5.) I was of the impression that he was on £20k per week with HUGE add ons for goals and games played etc would which have taken it to nearly £30k.

Either way it is an enormous amount of money for a Championship club. I really don't want us to start paying over the odds for players like this. Get rid and move on.

6.) The HUGE add on clause for goals was a masterstroke. Do the deal with Athens & ill fly drive him there myself.

7.) From what I was told, the reason it took so long to confirm Djebbour was because of wages and is also on big bonuses for goals etc. If he stays with us, I would like to think SP could sort his attitude out and maybe given a fair chance in the squad

8.) Where does it say that he has reached agreement? I can't find it anywhere.

{Ed034's Note - nep

Heard from a guy at the gym that plays golf with the backroom staff that Lansbury is going Nowhere. Jenas is coming back on a free. Micah Richards is coming on loan due to his relationship with SP and him wanting GUARANTEED playtime. And that Darlow is off with many big clubs sniffing around.

nffctrickett

1.) Isnt jenas out with a very lengthy injury?

2.) 17 May 2014 18:21:13
Would love richards can play cb or rb
Macormack lefondre up front
Rodwell for midfield on loan
Dyer or routledge for wing
Job done

3.) Would love for all of this to be true, but let's hope we can hang on to darlow.

4.) Darlow has been tweeting about having to mow the grass in his new home - doesn't sound to that he's thinking of moving.

5.) There is no chance we will be signing Mica Richards there would be tons of prem clubs after him.

6.) 17 May 2014 21:00:27
Don't think Jenas fits the SP plan, too old, injury prone, and on big wages.

7.) Richards would walk into numerous PL teams and l cannot see him dropping down to the Championship. Jenas is out for months and whilst a quality player has a horrendous injury record. I can see Darlow leaving for the right money, one out of three ain't bad!

8.) Richards is signing for Liverpool

9.) Micah richards coming to forest come on plz. what? Not a cat in hell! Ok everyones heard this or that but please! I wish but" let's be patient n see be interesting summer at forest. 3/4 to clear out. Maybe. Majewski. harding. n then yes let's go for quality if available. then I believe we all agree with the clearout n quality over quantity. 2 good strikers n ball winner in midfield n back up r back ain't far away

Not too bothered about this really. If it happens then great as it will add to our already strong squad but it's not vital we get another CM in I don't think.
